If you buy a device, you should be allowed to do anything with it... If I buy a pc, and if I got a copy of DOS, I would be angry at *insert company name here* if they would disable my device. But hey, it's a console. /care.

there is a gray area to this, on one side, no one can cheat on games such as Pokemon or Smash now, on the other side, Nintendo should sell a GBA emulator for the 3ds, if they don't want people hacking it in.

Except these bans do nothing to prevent piracy, as a banned 3DS can still play pirated games, just not online. Hell, Nintendo isn't even preventing banned consoles from accessing the eshop to purchase games (or download previously purchased games).

I love Mint for this reason (for new users)!
It's super noob friendly with Cinnamon (it's Windows-like interface).
It's also based off of Ubuntu, so has active development and updated base code / packages.
It also has a fairly large support community.

Do you have Secure Boot enabled in your system's BIOS? I know that can cause some issues with alternative operating systems sometimes.

seangibbz got a reaction from Technous285 in Ubuntu Unity is Dead - Will switch back to GNOME in 2018
GNOME has more development than Unity as it's more commonly used across other distros (Debian, Fedora, etc).
Rather than doing their own thing, they're working to benefit the linux ecosystem as a whole with this move.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I do like this move and the central focus on GNOME should help improve development in the long term as there will be more collaboration between devs.

There's a fan project called Wiimmfi that can be used to play Wii/DS games (like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Animal Crossing) online again.

There's also RiiConnect24 which can be used to restore some online functionality to the Wii's home menu. This includes the News and Weather channels, as well as the Wii Message Board (aka WiiMail)
