  1. So, I have an older desktop that's just used for email and web browsing now. Recently, it has crashed several times. It got the error codes IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I know both of these can be related to bad RAM, but before I go out and get new RAM to put in, I thought I'd have a look at the crash dump files. I've not had any experience looking at these, so what do y'all make of them? What should I be looking at to diagnose this? Attached are the two crash dump files I managed to pull. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.txt IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.txt
  2. True, however I would like to keep costs as low as possible. If a $25 upgrade to the existing system will do, I'd rather do that than get a whole new system.
  3. I'm just trying to see if I can upgrade it for less than the cost of a new system. I reckon I could get a new system for less than $300.
  4. I have been tasked with replacing or upgrading the computer at my flight school's office. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade our existing system, or if we should just buy a new one. We only need the PC for web browsing and record keeping, as well as accessing our online scheduling program. Our current system has an AM2 socket motherboard, an Athlon 64 3200+ processor, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, and a Radeon Sapphire R7000 GPU that we're just using as a display adapter. I was thinking of getting a used Athlon 64 X2 5600+ for $25 on eBay, and maybe some more RAM, and probably a new hard drive. Would the X2 5600+ be good enough for our workload?
  5. Ok, I fixed it. The white latch had to slide in beneath the upper bank of pins. From there, it snapped into place.
  6. It's a Lenovo Y40-80. I did some checking, and it looks like that's the keyboard ribbon connector. Do you by any chance know which way is up on the latch? I've tried both ways and it doesn't seem right either way.
  7. Can someone please tell me what this connector is and how to put it back together? Exactly how does the white retainer piece go on? Probably shouldn't have removed it in the first place... Thanks.
  8. Well, I opened up the bottom cover and made sure the monitor cable was not loose. It didn't appear to be, but now that I've put the think back together, it seems to be working. Well, problem solved, I guess.
  9. It's not been dropped, sat on, or otherwise mishandled. I will open it up tomorrow and see if the cable is loose, though.
  10. So my laptop screen started flickering at random. Any guesses on what the problem may be? Sometimes it's only for a brief second, sometimes for ~30 seconds, sometimes it will continue until I restart. Attached is a photo. I have a Lenovo Y40-80 (warranty expired) Intel Core i7-5500U AMD Radeon R9 M275
