  1. jumps in technology are not linear bro, games may very well start making use of 6 cores starting next year.
  2. Linus meant changing resolution from native 4k to 1080p wouldn't save much and it is true becuz you are still powering all the pixels. I contacted dell and was told the 4k model uses more battery power and has a larger power connector to support it so I cannot add a 4k screen to my 1080p model.
  3. Better of with ryzen bro. If you go with the 7700k you will start to regret in a few years when more and more programs start switching to using more than 4 cores. AMD would never have started off with 6 core cpu's with the ryzen lauch if they didn't also believe this as they could have produced 4 core cpu's with slightly less clocks for a lot less money and compete with Intel that way.
  4. Do 4k laptop screens use more battery life. I ended up purchashing a dell 7567 with the 1080p IPS becuase I wanted to max out battery life, however If the 4k screen does not use that much more battery life I am thinking of returning it and purchasing the 4k model instead after hearing everyone rave about 4k screens in reviews. Also, is the 4k screen worth it for me? I game very little and mainly watch youtube, do some coding, and do work in unity sometimes.
  5. okay thanks, I really only use it when I watch multimedia since I have them downloaded to that drive. would getting a 2.5" ssd installed use less life?
  6. Hi, looking to upgrade my laptop (dell 7567) and it has a stock 128gb m.2 sata 3 drive. Is the nvme worth it? I do not game with it mainly use it for college where I do lots of programming. Will this be a worthwhile upgrade for me or should I just get a 1TB 2.5" ssd instead.
  7. Would removing the 1TB 5400rpm HDD from my dell 7567 save any noticible battery life. I do not use it often.
  8. have had a few intel 730 ssd's for few years, since 2014 when it was released and used them a ton. I think hours on them , last time I checked , were around 21,000 each , and still rated at 100% health. I believe these ssd's are good for millions of hours and they had a 5 year warranty. To be honest though, I think crucial, intel, Samsung, adata, and WD are all good companies to buy ssd's from. Did have problems with Sandisk, multiple times, and do not recommend that brand. They are just a crappy ssd with slow speeds as soon they get a little hot.
  9. Will i get more battery life getting that laptop with the i5-7300hq quad core 4/4 vs the i7-7700hq 4/8? will be using it mainly for programming and web browsing with some unity 3d game development every now and then.
  10. Is the only difference between these 2 laptops the case?
  11. If cinibench is picking up a E5-2698 v4 cpu as "genuine intel cpu 0000" does that mean it a engineering sample? This cpu is supposed to also turbo to 3.6 ghz but but cpuz and core temp show a max turbo to 2.3ghz from a base of 2.0ghz?
  12. Hi, thanks for the reply. I have had that feature disabled for a week and it is still happening
  13. for some reason on both my laptop and desktop, they will wake up randomly when in sleep mode. I have checked the event finder and the only 2 errors are a event ID 137, some problem with sleep state s4, and a power_troubleshooter issue that has and unknown source. It is not Ethernet, becuz I have disabled the ethernet feature that wakes the computer up and laptop is wifi. How do I fix this? Thanks.

  15. A lesson I learned in the past is always get the cpu you want as all other parts can be easily added/ upgraded later on.
