antoipod reacted to Azumi2 in [Resolved-Explanation] Strange blue lines in explorer, videos and games
Hi All,
Yesterday I had a weird occurrence where blue lines were appearing on the desktop, during youtube videos and on the cloud outlines of COD WW2. I'm still using a GTX 980 ti overclocked via a modded BIOS with no overclocking on afterburner.
At first I thought it was coming to the end of the graphics board's life. I switched to my living room TV and the problem stopped. Then I remembered something... My daughter had been up on the PC chair, knocking the webcam off the top of the monitor bezel that evening. Sure enough she had knocked loose the DVI cable on the back of the monitor. Plugging it back in and securing it with the screws attached completely solved the problem.
This may seem like a "duh" post but others may come across the same issue and think they need a new video card. It's always worth checking the basics first rather than jumping to conclusions. I nearly spent 80,000 yen on a new rtx 3070 because of this issue when it was nothing but a cable all along.

Become a wizard at soldering and replace your GPU die.

Wrong, it makes a cool looking paperweight. But in all seriousness, I think your right, It gets outperformed by other xeons in single core and by gpus in multicore, I can't think of why someone wouldn't just buy a gpu instead.

I think it uses string theory and does some anti aliasing in a different dimension.

Bullshit to infinity and beyond

I tried to argue that it would still be valid for an episode of Useless Tech Over $100 since the two cables had totally different claims.

Exactly, the only way in which it could "increase frame rate" is by offloading AA fromt eh GPU into its integrated processor. In other words, you don't get a higher frame rate, you just get "a higher framerate that you would obtain if doing the same AA in your GPU", assuming your GPU would choke with AA on, because if you are CPU bound with and wihtout AA, enabling AA won't reduce your FPS, and therefore this cable could not claim to "increase it" in any sense.
In other words, what they advertise is "free AA" as opposed to "spend GPU power in AA". Whether they deliver, and whether the AA effect is the same the GPU-based one, my crystal ball can't tell. It only shows this:

On that note, a pretty damned cool show piece.

So can it run on my system or do I need a server board and a xeon cpu?

That's basically how it went down.

Alright, a nice showpiece it is then.

I have heard of people using DDU, I have not used it myself but here is a link. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
