  1. Things are derailing a bit in here, but it's sure getting spicy.
  2. Thanks for the PSU recommendations, but when you're as poor as I am, something even of that price would take months to get.
  3. Well, if my computer goes up in flames, my 2 y/o laptop isn't much worse than my 9 y/o desktop at this point.
  4. Thanks for resurrecting my hope of being able to resume gaming. :')
  5. RIP my lucky break then. Guess I really will have to wait 3 years until I can game again on a PC.
  6. Hey all, My friend was so kind as to donate their GTX 970 4GB (Well, I believe that's what it is. They aren't computer-savvy so they don't know what it is, and I've only looked at their specs once a long time ago, so it's a bit hazy. It might actually be a 960 or 950, but I believe it's a 970 4GB) to me since my Radeon HD 7770 1Ghz died recently. After sorting out the issues of if it will actually be able to fit into my ancient case, I went on to worry about if my PSU could handle it without exploding. Unfortunately, I picked the Corsair CX 500M PSU a while back, but don't worry, I am now aware of the CX series' infamy. I've heard conflicting things about the CX series, however. Some say to not game whatsoever with it (I've made it this far.), but others say just don't SLI with it, use it in a high-end system, or some other extreme setup. Here are my PC specs to show you what little the CX has to power: CPU: Intel i3-2120 RAM: 8gb 1333 Mhz Storage: 500 GB Seagate HDD, and a Biwin 256 GB SSD She's a relic, but still suits my needs. Thoughts? (Yes, again, I know CX PSUs are bad, but if you're going to just post that, please elaborate a bit.)
  7. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver multiple times so far and it's done nothing. Thanks, though.
  8. I right-clicked uninstalled it, checked the 'remove driver' check box, and hit confirm. I restarted my PC, attempted to install the latest driver, and it gave me "Error 173 - AMD Installer cannot continue since AMD graphics hardware was not found" again.
  9. All right, that it made it appear on the list again. However, its device status in properties shows message "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45). To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." The graphics card is currently fully hooked up to my computer, though.
  10. But I supposed I could pick a restore point that I think is the best option... I'll try that. EDIT: Never mind, there isn't a restore point before the problem occurred.
  11. ASUS Radeon HD 7770 1GB GHz-Edition. No, I haven't conducted a system restore. I wouldn't know which to restore it to since the thing that caused it to malfunction was sleep mode.
  12. Sorry, I meant flip the switch while the computer is on or off.
  13. Flip the switch it's off, or on? What'll that do? CPU: i3-2120 3.30 GHz. Motherboard: Intel 0GDG8Y RAM: 8GB DDR3; 1x4GB Samsung, 1x4GB Corsair. GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 7770 1GB GHz-Edition. HDD: Seagate Blue 7200 RPM 500GB PSU: Corsair CX500M.
