If it's just your WiFi that's bad then you could buy a new access point like something from Ubiquiti
-
Correct, I'm not sure what kit you have but just make sure it isn't an EPS 8 pin, The PCI one will fit very easily whereas the EPS one will not.
-
The braided one equivalent will be just an 8 pin, That's a 6+2 which only exists so that power supply manufacturers can save money and cater for two different connectors with the same cable. Example from my computer:

Which to upgrade (or stick with existing?)
pbx2 replied to Radium_Angel's topic in New Builds and Planning
Those chips have very poor single core performance, Most games can't take advantage of more than 4-6 cores let alone dual sockets. You'll need a whole new platform though since all of that generation's xeons are pretty crap for anything other than workloads designed for them. Ryzen 3600 is my suggestion. -
Yes, Give it some airflow - that's way too hot for an SSD Electronics always last longer with less heat.

Most power efficient Ryzen 3000 capable motherboard.
pbx2 replied to Totsuzen's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Pretty much all motherboards with the same chipset use about the same amount of power, If you want the one that uses the least you should look for the one with the least features. (no lighting, no wifi, no 2.5/10gbit ports etc) Asrock B450m Pro 4 is generally one of the better cheap boards, MSI tomahawk if you want less shitty fan control -
I only have a 8pin GPU cable and need a 8+6 for new graphics card
pbx2 replied to JHINTON's topic in Graphics Cards
Buy a new power supply, If your power supply doesn't have two 8 pins it probably doesn't have the rated output to power a card that needs them. -

phase change mineral oil cooling
pbx2 replied to barrysmoke's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
The chilled block had refrigerant running through it which has a much lower freezing point than Mineral Oil or Water. Sadly it's not possible because of that. -
I use a 27 inch monitor on my computer with a 34 inch TV next to me (so i have some sort of sense of scale), The 27 inch is more than big enough and unless you're sitting further away, The 32 inch will cause you neck problems in the long run. - Or at the very least you'll be having to move your head around to see the screen.

Counter strike is CPU bottle necked, Your CPU is mid range at best. The 1070 should get about 180-200

Discussing Programmer focused Laptops

Asus's G14 sounds like a good option to take a look at, It's well priced and has almost everything you want. - Good battery - 1440p screen (the high refresh one isn't so great and has poor response time so i'd miss it) - Good keyboard - An actually nice design - A superb CPU - Light and thin compared to other laptops with similar performance The only negatives seem to be that you'll need to wait a few weeks for the release and you'll have to live with no Home and End keys Sorry I seem to have skimmed over your post a bit too fast and I missed your bit about the G14 already but still, It's probably the best option at the moment - Especially with LG and Dell going the Intel route with the latest Gram and XPS. -
I'm not very familiar with how networking on Virtualbox works but it might have some weird routing that doesn't allow it to be accessed from the host, Have you tried a different computer or a phone?

It can either be the clock speed, something in the background that's taking up CPU or FaH being weird (which could probably be fixed with a restart)

PC randomly freezes and display goes off , motherboard CPU debug led lit
pbx2 replied to souvik200's topic in Troubleshooting
The 12V rail technically should be between 11.8 and 12.4 (and on better PSUs it should just be 12) My RM850i reads 12.047 I'd go for a different PSU and if that doesn't fix it then just return it. -
Gpu temps at 27c while cpu is at 70c (Custom loop)
pbx2 replied to ZeratorRules's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
You either have bad contact between the CPU and block or it's just the fact that your GPU block is directly contacting the die and the CPU one has an IHS between it and the block, I'd go for the latter. -
Firewall could be an issue, Alongside your VPN. I also see 2 different IPs in the nav bar, Does the one showing the page in your VM work on windows?

pbx2 replied to souvik200's topic in Troubleshooting
I'm looking at the MSI BIOS page and I'd probably argue that there's no reason to not update that board, Unlike Asrock they don't say you should avoid upgrading. -
First, Be aware that some work units don't provide as many credits as the others and you might have just got unlucky a few times in a row, You can check the credit and PPD of specifically your CPU in the advanced control client. (Open task bar, Right click on FaH logo and select advanced control) Check to see if your chip is overheating or something else is taking up a large chunk of resources. Then make sure that FaH is set to use all of it by opening advanced control and setting it to use 11 threads (always one less than you have in your system so your GPU isn't affected)

Sounds like a bad power supply -
Not really, X570 didn't exactly add anything to the game apart from Gen 4 either (as well as some properly shitty boards but that's irrelevant) You could claim future proofing but most GPUs don't even use a full 16x of PCIe 3.0 bandwidth which makes 4.0 somewhat unneeded (and AMD knows that too, The mobile 4000 Zen 2 chips don't use 4.0 either) Unless you're running a lot of PCIe cards and or you actually need fast storage it's not really worth it. I've heard AMD is moving sockets for the next run of Ryzens so it's probably not even future proof, They might as well not even bother with B550
