  1. There's a setting in "Mouse Options" that might be helpful. It shows the location of the cursor when you press "Ctrl".
  2. Greetings! So I just updated to the latest version of Windows 10 (As you do). Then, I got angry at all the things they changed that I originally liked (As you do). This time, it was the Start Menu. This is how I had it before I updated - nice and simple, beautiful, and functional. This is what it looks like now - Everything I want is squished up into the left side, and the all apps list has been blown up and stuck in the middle of everything. I took a look at the settings and everything was how I left it before I updated: So now to the question part of the post, where you (hopefully!) can help me. Does anyone know of a way to make the start menu look and function like the first example? I've been looking around online, but it's hard to phrase exactly what I want in Google. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :-)
  3. I hope this doesn't jinx it, but I bought a new power board and I haven't had any trouble since... I'm even going to restore my overclock to its former 4.7GHz glory! It only cost $40 AUD, it's got overload and surge protection, and an "RFI Filter" (I only just noticed that, I need to read a bit more about it). Thanks for all your help, Pixel. :-)
  4. Breaking news! It happened again! 4/01/2017 Symptoms are an aqua (I'm not an artist, if my colour perception skills aren't perfect, don't be too harsh :-) left screen with black lines and a solid light blue right screen. As usual, I checked in Event Viewer, however there were no relevant logs for 4/1/2017 at around 1:20pm. I was running Chrome, but apart from that the computer was idle and I was away from the keyboard. The only other thing I should mention is that the WiFi dropped out - that's the reason why I was AFK. I've noticed that the crashes sometimes coincide with a loss of internet connection - not always though, and it could be coincidence. Maybe I'll keep turning my router on and off every now and then to see what happens.
  5. Here we go, ran memtest for 7 passes (almost 11 hours) and there were no errors. Unless you have any other ideas, I suppose this case is closed until the next crash occurs and I can get more information about it. Thanks for all your help!
  6. Yeah, I've always thought it was a graphics card issue, so I ran a Video Memory Stress Test with the tool from http://mikelab.kiev.ua/index_en.php. The test completed with no errors found. I should note that I've never been able to force this crash to occur. I've tried using Prime95 and AIDA64 to no avail. I'll run another Memtest continuously overnight and see if it picks up anything. Thanks for all your help today, Pixel. Merry Christmas!
  7. Thanks for the suggestions, @imPixelTV. I ran memtest for 2 hours and there were no errors, but I do have a lot of RAM and maybe one pass wasn't enough. Would you expect memtest to pick up an issue like this within the first few seconds or could it really take a few hours to find?
  8. Greetings! My computer suffers from crashes where the screens turn various colours. The issue is very intermittent so I've been having trouble isolating the cause. Every time it happens I look in Event Viewer to see if an error was recorded, but all I can see is Event 41 (Kernel-Power, The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.). If I am watching a video when a crash occurs, the audio continues to play for a considerable time (10 to 20 seconds). Audio is the 3.5mm jack from the motherboard, not HDMI. I used to have a 4.7GHz overclock at around 1.295v (I can't remember the exact number), but I've brought that down to 4.4GHz at the same voltage to see if that would fix or at least reduce the frequency of the crashes, but it doesn't appear to have had any effect. PC Specifications OS - Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 build 10586.713 Motherboard - Asus Maximus VII Ranger CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K, 4400 MHz (44 x 100) RAM - 4 x 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury Graphics Card - AMD Radeon R9 270X Drives Boot - Kingston HyperX Savage (120GB) Storage - WD Blue 3TB PSU - Corsair RM650 (650 Watt 80+ gold) Images attached are what the monitors look like when the crash occurs. 30/09/2015 Both monitors are a solid colour, one blue and one white. 1/10/2015 Both monitors are white with vertical black lines. 15/10/2016 Left monitor is solid blue, right monitor is red with vertical black lines. There were other crashes between 15-10-2016 and now, but I didn't bother recording them. Eventually I thought "Right! That's it! Time to put a stop to this" and that's when I posted this thread. I'll keep a better log from now on and try to list what applications I was using at the time. I don't think it's a software issue though. 25/12/2016 Yes, I bought new monitors and a stand. :-) Both monitors are the same white background with vertical black lines. 4/01/2017 Aqua left screen with black lines and a solid light blue right screen. No relevant Event Viewer logs. If you need any further information, just ask. Thanks for any and all help! :-)
