  1. Thank you for the reply, all input is very helpful I do realize that asking for $1000 would scare the vast majority of people away, with that being said, now that I am closer to done sourcing components I am looking at just under $500 BOM cost before tax, shipping, labor and machine time. The kit/preassembled vehicle would have over 5hp and should easily be able to hit the 55mph goal in addition to having 8000mah hours of graphene 4s battery (easily over 1 hour, over 2 if youre just a bit gentle), comes with a good enough remote control and am thinking around the $850-$900 mark for the first release. I dont think thats too insane either, while the price may be in competition with the 100mph traxxas I think the cool and fun factor would put it on another level Also there is a community of people who love tanks so much there are $8k rc replicas https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Genuine-Henglong-1-8-large-scale-of-all-metal-German-Tiger-I-electric-remote-control-tank/32802024049.html not to mention the half million dollar ripsaw ev3
  2. i havent seen that before, certaintly not at my local RC there arent really any high end RC tracked vehicles, aside from the Blizzard snow cat, but thats not high performance without serious upgrades to the electronics did track down a supplier in china that manufactures rubber track for everything from firefighting robots to wheelchairs farm equipment and even excavators, and have several compelling options in the right size range
  3. ahh yes, the deathstar, would be a cool look if i ever get around to mounting that paintball gun..
  4. So I have long loved tanks, had been drawn to them since childhood, built some plastic model kits, in middleschool I got into the WoT beta and loved it. In highschool I learned 3D design and built a 3D printer, now I have this: This is a 1ft wide functional mockup. It has over 5hp of brushless motors and can go about 30mph in its current form, limited by the strength of my 3d printed track. I am currently in the process of sourcing parts for a more finalized version, which would use rubber track. be much faster, and much lighter. Here is a peak at what that may look like. Think im wasting my time? because I kinda think that if i were to try to sell these there would be enough people who would say "Shut up and take my money" to make this worth my while. It would not be cheap though, at least not the first version, I am trying to hit about a $500 cost of materials and about double that for sale price. Thought id just throw this out there and see what people think, I know one things for sure, everyone who sees it in person thinks its ridiculously cool
  5. I got infuriatingly close with ASUS GPU Tweak 1, in advanced mode it has the exact feature I want. You can click 3d, set clocks, switch to 2d set clocks. Only issue is the software is so old. No proper support for my gpu and the buggyness was a deal breaker although it worked for a short time fixing my flicker while allowing a custom overclock.
  6. Tried that, it was some really basic stuff, no mention of 2d or 3d. Monitoring my card indeed showed a trixx profile worked fine in games but would drop gpu core and mem to 300mhz causing the flicker.
  7. I have a Sapphire 7970, for witch there is a documented issue when using a multi monitor setup and almost any OC software. The problem lies in crimson/afterburner applying your new clocks to the 3D profile but when the card runs 2D the core and mem are running at only 300mhz causing awful screen flicker and artifacting. I am aware of GPU tweak II being able to force the 3d profile to always be on but does anyone have a suggestion for OC software that allows you to set a custom 2D AND 3D profile?
  8. So I just got an old Sapphire 7970 I think it was a miner and may still have a modified bios. I have two panels, a 21:9(Display Port) and a 16:9(hdmi), Both 1080p tall With afterburner or crimson it seems to behave normally when gaming hitting 1150mhz without much tinkering, and staying cool. But the problem is when the card no longer has a load it will now drop to 300mhz causing awful horizontal flickering and artifacting on only my 16:9 panel while with no OC utility the card never dips below 500mhz and has no issues. Any ideas? Thank you for your time
  9. yeah i already had a a/c converter in my car, though a backpack sized ups could be promising.. I will look into this more, thank you for your time
  10. I am pretty sure that the latop simply requires more amps than the portable battery has to offer, as the portable can charge phones, ipads, and a couple different laptops, although now that i think of it, it does the same thing to the only other dell laptop i have tried to charge. I have accepted that I wont be charging it with that battery, what i want is something that can charge it on the go. Know of any god solutions?
  11. yes, it is the stock power brick which works (though it drains the battery in less time than it takes to charge which i think is kinda ridiculous ). what wouldnt charge it is an aftermarket battery pack though
  12. so, i have a dell alienware m14x, and the battery pack that i normally use for charging laptops, phones ect refuses to charge this power hog. even when the computer is off, the most it will do is run on a/c meaning it wont charge but neither will it drain battery. the problem there is that is seems to be stuck in a power saving mode with the processor heavily underclocked as well as the gpu under performing leaving the whole computer feeling slow. I think this is due to the lack of the data from the battery that should be telling the laptop it is a trusted charger. so, i was looking into batteries with wall outlets on them so that it would see a trusted charger. the charger that came with it is 120v 2amp, by my math that makes it a 240 watt charger (though it wouldn't surprise me if it draws less than that) and the portable batteries ive seen are only rated for around 80watts. Anyone know of a good way to go about charging this on the go? Im willing to buy a good battery pack, though I also think it would be cool to do something silly like build a backpack with my own built in battery or something, idk.
  13. Me and my IRL friend are both 18 and both guys, we play a lot of pc games and our online friends have slowly disappeared. We are currently on a warframe binge, with a possible mechwarrior online binge upcomming. We also play minecraft, terraria, supreme commander, planetary annihilation, and more. We have also ditched skype and dont use team speak unless involved in a clan. Add me on razer comms if you wanna hang out and think we would get along @ DaGameFace / DaGameFace2 (mobile)
  14. Thanks for the feedback guys, after looking into it more im starting to love the idea of biomedical engineering, specifically a rehabilitation engineer. They are the guys designing bionic prosthesis for
  15. Hello, Im a high school senior going into college next year (well, later this year) and I haven't decided on a field yet. But definitely leaning towards some sort of engineering. I already am experienced with 3d modelling, scanning and printing and have always been good at math and science though i am artistic on the side. The couple specifics that stuck out to me were biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering, though there are doctors in the family and I'm not opposed to that. So, if you have any suggestions for fields of study for me to look into that's all i want. Just a starting point, things to look into see if anything else out there grabs my attention.
