Macimoar got a reaction from atxcyclist in Possibly Amazing Thrift Store Find
Found this at the thrift store today. I almost didn’t check out the tech section because they rarely have anything. But I lucked out today and found some spare parts in a handy PC case for 10 bucks.

    Possibly useable parts include:
    2x8GB DDR4 RAM
    Corsair 80mm AIO
    3 Corsair case fans
    Corsair CX750M PSU

Motherboard has some bent and missing pins, so I probably won’t be able to get any use out of that; but if the RAM and AIO are working, I’ll be well on my way to upgrade my rig (still need CPU/Motherboard). I don’t currently have a DDR4 compatible motherboard, so I can’t test the RAM sticks yet, but I should be able to test the cooler.

Honestly, if even one of these parts works it’s a good deal
Best case scenario, I’ve cut my upgrade cost in half. At worst, I have half a PC case

I lost my Airpods a while back (I think they were stolen but I'm not sure) and I've been holding out on buying new ones forever because Airpods 2 was always just around the corner.

I think a video streaming service could prove successful, but I'm not paying extra $10 for it. Bundle it with Apple music and we'll be fine. Even its a few dollars extra for the combined bundle, that would be reasonable.

This keyboard belongs to my friend who received it for free from his friend. His friend had gotten a new keyboard (presumably so he didn’t have to clean the old one). I knew it would be dirty, but when I popped those keys off the only thought I had was “wtf?”
Idk what this stuff is, but it’s gonna be hell to clean up.

Macimoar got a reaction from DutchTexan in Net Neutrality Might Not Be Dead: Senate Democrats Have Enough Support to Force a Vote on the Senate Floor
The thing I don’t like about net neutrality is how it’s being defended. Before the FCC vote, I had heard the phrase “net neutrality”, but was often confused as to which side was which (I’m the same way about “gun control”). So I looked more into it.
99% of the stuff I found was extremely for net neutrality, claiming things like “ISPs will be able to charge what they want for internet” and they’ll “throttle connection speeds whenever they want” and even “this will be the end of the internet as we know it” which seemed awful.
“I’m all for net neutrality!” I said. I signed the petition, I posted on Facebook. But then I thought: “I have never seen a post arguing against net neutrality” and it got me thinking why that was.

Why would anybody want to get rid of laws that protected against this? Those sound like terrible things!

So I did what anyone who wants to be further educated on a matter should do. I researched both sides. Because, if you only know the strong points of your side, you’re not preparing yourself for a debate, your preparing yourself for a pissing match in which nobody wins but you think you do.

So I found an article arguing against net neutrality , written by someone in the IT field. And you know what? It has a lot of good points. Maybe not enough to shake my pro net neutrality stance, but definitely enough to realize it’s not going to be “the end of the internet as we know it”.

I like debating. I like the internet. I’m less decided on this issue than when it started and I think that’s a good thing.

    Tl:dr
I was for net neutrality, I researched the other side, the other side has good points too.
