  1. I thought it was interesting because these professional grade CRTs back then could reach 120hz refresh-rate and already had great contrast/colors, though they can't keep up with modern ones on resolution. The video argues that on CRTs even on lower resolution games still look great, and running on lower res might let you max out some heavy games like Metro, RTX enabled games, for instance.
  2. So, i was watching youtube vids like one does, and the video below came to be via autoplay suggestion. TThe video covers how they've been rediscovering the advantages of CRT diplays for modern gaming. Wonder if LTT would do a video to test these out? A lot of what they say makes sense, but it's hard for me a -tropical pleb- to judge from watching a video.
  3. I'ma try a clean install of all drivers and let you guys know!
  4. I have a set of semi-decent 2.1 speakers, connected directly to the motherboard jack. To game (where i haven't noticed this) i use my HyperX Cloud 2's
  5. Guys, how's it going? So, for the past month or so, i've been having consistent audio/video sync issues on Netflix, Prime Video and Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player. It starts off fine, but after 10, 15 minutes the audio slowly and subtly starts to fall out of synchronization. If i let it go it gets more and more evident. Until i pause the video for a few seconds and it goes back to sync. It is super annoying. What's weird is that i don't get it watching neither Youtube or Twitch. I'm not really sure if i'm posting on the right section, but i'd like to see if you guys could illuminate why this is happening. Because i don't know if the audio or video is the culprit for this nuisance. I'm running: Intel Core i7 7700 Strix ROG - H270-F Gaming 16gb of DDR4, Corsair Vengeance 2400 EVGA GTX 1070 SC MP300 Corsair M.2 Nvme SSD OS: Windows 10 64-bit (up to date) Both drivers, Audio and GPU are up to date.
  6. So, after staying at work til 10pm last night i took the morning off work today.
Wasn't feeling very fresh so i slept in. During the morning i had the weirdest dream and i know why i had it.

(Just a primer, i am a brazilian illustrator/graphic designer, name is Paulo, love the channel, it helped me build my very first PC on my own and i've been using computers since 1994)

Probably, i'm watching way too much LTT on youtube.... lol
I had this weird dream where i arrived to work at LMG, i was greeted by Linus and Yvonne, both super nice.
They helped me settle in, and assigned me the oddest of jobs: to design/diagram their new bills (you know, like credit card statements you can pay, it's more like the brazilian model). It was a Itau Bank (a brazilian bank) statement/invoice, and they said i could use this as a base model for what they wanted. Linus called it (internally) as the Middle-finger. (HAHAHAHAA). I suggested the name pay-up-byotch. He dismissed it.
Later in the dream i found myself in hot water (warm, really) because i had opened the 2L bottle of coke in the office fridge, so i could drink some, and there was this unwritten rule that Linus was supposed to always be the first one to crack open any bottle of coca-cola in the building. Everybody looked at me nervously not knowing if they should tell me. Linus was upset and i just stammered "Uh i'll go get a new one".
I left to do that but i was, weirdly, not in Canada, but in a very familiar Rio de Janeiro neighborhood, i went to a local grocery store to get some coke. When i came back folks in the office had set up a table with a PC for me to work on the MIDDLE-FINGER-bill hahhahaha. Strangely enough, there was a bed right next to it.

I woke up a few moments later with a splitting stomach ache (gas, woof) and when i went back to sleep it was pure black, oblivion.

Maybe i should give the channel a break?
    This is fucked up

hahahahahahahahahaha ha ha hahahahha hah ...

    /cry

    /despair

  7. Hey guys My name is Paulo (or Pulyx as i am recognized around the tubes of the internet), i'm a brazilian ilustrator. I wanted o post a thank you note to the people in the forum who have helped me out and the guys on the LTT channel. I've been using computers since 94 (my first PC was an Intel 80286). And seriously doing it since 2003 when i started working professionally. PCs were always something that i loved even with the little frustrations it causes us (bugs, crashes, parts going bad). But it's the first time in these 22 years i felt i knew enough to assemble my PC on my own (i could pick the parts before but never felt comfortable to start one from scratch all by myself.) Without the videos from the Channel (also Bitwit and Jayz2cents) and advice and support from you guys here at the forums, i wouldn't have known enough to do so. And every time i panicked a bit and needed some support you were super quick, helpful and tolerant of my dumb shit. So thank you! I discovered the channel a few months ago (February when i was really sick and bed ridden for almost a month and a half) LTT is probably my favorite channel on youtube (watching stuff with PC hardware is relaxing to me? lol) currently, and i think you guys are doing a tremendous job and i'm really happy for the success you guys enjoy and you are an example to other channels on all fronts. The production value, the personalities and honesty in the information you guys put out. Hope you guys have a good one! LTT and Forums, keep up the good work.
  8. I did. I changed one of the standoff (the right botom one) wasn't catching the screw's thread. After that, i reassembled it outside the box, tested it, worked. Reassembled inside the case and it worked. Next time i'll be more careful with the standoffs. I didn't know they were more than just mounting pieces. Seems like this was the case. Thank you! IT LIVES!!
  9. Hey guys I need help with this issue i'm having right now. I built a system a week and a half ago: Intel Core i7 7700 Asus ROG Strix H270F Gaming 16gb DDR4 RAM (2400mhz) 4x4gb - Corsair Vengeance LPX EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 SC A couple of inherited SSDs (120 and 250gb) + 350 gb WD blue HD. EVGA 650 GQ PSU Corsair H80i V2 AIO I had assembled it on an older case a Corsair Carbide Spec Alpha, and while the build was a pain because the case is not very good. It posted on the first try. And it worked without any issue throughout the week. I bought a new case to make the system cleaner in terms of build, a NZXT S340 Elite. Today i disassembled it to put in the new case. I didn't touch the CPU, memory or the AIO installation. I just took out of the old case, and placed it on the new one. Routed the cables, Plugged in everything and... When i was finally done i went to turn on the PC and this happened: When i flipped the PSU switch No fans spin (not even when they try and stall). No Beeps. Just the Stand by power led (picture attatched). Flashing orange. Like Flash, slow fade. I press the power button, nothing happens. I tried unplugging and replugging the 20-pin power cable and the 8 pin CPU power. Nothing. I checked my front panel conectors and they seemed to be installed correctly. Can you guys shed a light on what's going on? I'm at my wit's end here. Thank you for your time, in advance. This is a real bummer,
  10. Alright guys. Seems i freaked out a little bit for no reason. Thank you for the quick responses.
  11. Regarding the instalation I had to REALLY push down to get the screws to catch the thread for the standoffs. It felt weird to me because i've seen a bazillion watercooling videos online and it always looked so easy Now i'm worried something is caught below it.
  12. Hey guys I just finished putting together my new rig and it was my first time installing a AIO watercooler. The specs are Core i7 7700 Asus ROG Strix H270F 16 GB - Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400mhz 2 SSDs (120 and 250) - From my old PC 1 HD (WD blue) The AIO Cooler is the Corsair Hydro H80i V2. (i got it more for silence reasons and because it can get super hot here in Brazil). I had a super hard time installing it (because i'm not super experienced, this is only my first time putting everything together, i had done upgrades before but never a full system, with WCing.) I had difficulty installing the cooling unit (is it always that hard to push it down to screw it to the motherboard?) I saw around the internet that normal temps for watercooled PCs while Idle are around 10-15°C. But this is what i'm seeing: 30-40°C and a bit more sometimes. Should i reinstall the thing and reapply thermal paste? I'm not even going to try and game on it. The PC posted fine on the first try.
  13. Guys, i got a question.I started sourcing parts for an upgrade a couple of months ago.I got an Asus ROG Strix H270. And was intending to buy a i7 7700Is Coffee Lake a no-go for that board? (thinking i7 8700, i work with large photoshop files and some light 3d modelling)Because i have the opportunity to buy the CPU right now, but i don't want to pull the trigger if the motherboard is going to bottleneck it.
  14. Alright! Seems like it's quite clear cut. Thank you!
  15. How's it going guys? I'm posting to ask for some pointers on memory. I recently bought an Asus Strix h270F gaming Motherboard and i'm monthly sourcing the other parts to build the PC around december. (I already have the Motherboard and Video card (EVGA 1070 superclocked, ssds). I intend to buy the Core i7 7700 (because i work with 2d/3d graphics), it's not demanding enough to buy an Overclockable CPU. There's this store down here in Brazil having this sale and there are a couple of memory packs i'm looking at that i'm not sure if my motherboard will be able to acomodate. The H270F Gaming specifications say that the board can run: 4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 3300(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory I'm not sure if i understand correctly. I know that 2400/2133 are the standard speeds. But the faster memory frequencies are OC.Ok, But do i have to manually overclock them? Or if i just plug them in will they run at their native frequency? Or does this mean i can only run 3000-3300 memories if i'm using an overclockable CPU? Because there is this pack of dimms that are at a really good price but are 3200 mhz in frequency. And i don't want to spend money on faster memory if i have to manually overclock them. Thank you in advance for your help!
