  1. Ok that is on the hardware level. What about the BIOS/UEFI? Should i stay on the safe side and buy an NVMe drive or can i try the SATA one? The SATA is 512 which would be nice to have. Thanks for helping with my totally noob questions.
  2. That would not be a problem. Having faster speeds than even a 7200RPM HDD and having more space than an Optane Drive while having two separate disks are my goal. RST is not my cup of tea to be honest. Again a would assume since the Optane uses NvMe i need to buy an NvMe drive to replace that. Or even a SATA one would be fine? I dont have options to buy a 512GB one. (Would be nice to have a bigger drive. I might want to run a dual boot setup.)
  3. What do you mean by bad? being slow? Or dying fast? The first is not a problem. My Asus only supports some obsecure SATA based ones. Like i found only one type being in Hungary. And that was like a legalised robbery. Almost 150 USD for 128GB and it is not faster than any standard old noname SATA SSDs. I've been looking into these two. TS256GMTS400 or the TS512GMTS400 as SATA and TOSHIBA 240GB RC100 as NVME. Hence the need to know the way i can config after removing the Optane drive. Thanks
  4. Ok that is clear, The model i'm looking at is one with a 1TB 5400 RPM HDD and 16GB of Optane memory. (Model Number if helps: Lenovo ThinkPad T480 20L50005HV) And what i was planning to replace the Optane drive with either an NVME SSD or an M.2 SATA based one. I don't really care about the connector either. I would be switching from an Asus Transformer Book TP500. And i dont really want to go back to having only an HDD or even use an Optane enhanced experience. Also having two separate physical drives is just a bit more secure at least in my mind. Thanks
  5. Hi there, At this point i'm confused, i looked everywhere i could but was unable to find any information. Long story short i'm planning on buying a T480 with a 16GB Optane drive, and a 1TB HDD. Seems reasonable for me with the computer prices in the country where i live in for around 1900 USD however i would like to replace the Optane drive with a bigger, preferably at least 240GB NVMe or Sata m.2 drive for boot while using the 1TB HDD purely as a data drive. In CTO configurators i have seen an option to add an NVMe or m.2 SATA, no idea exactly which (not a Lenovo configurator just a retailer here) and that would make it inpossible to install an LTE modem about which i care little to none at all. However purchasing it that way is not really optimal for me for a couple of reasons. So i have to upgrade after the fact. So i arrived here, hoping for a T480 owner here, or someone who is better at using google than me (at this point both is possible) to help me figure this out. The most clear information or clues i have is that yes its possible, however not sure about the backend of the drive, (SATA or NVMe or does ot matter). And that the drive size have to be 2242. Thanks for the help in advance.
  6. Yeah, that kind of defeats the part of only being just a notification device and also i would look like an idiot. But point taken. I might look into it. thanks
  7. Hello! I'm looking for a solution for my incredibly first world problem. I have two phones, one of them is my private and that has an LG GWatch Urbane Connected to it. However i need something for my work phone. I have a kind of phase at my workplace where i need to know almost instantly if i recieve a new email or calendar invite. Therefore i need a device that does nothing else but vibrates and displays lights (preferably with a comfigurable rgb led for each type of notificaton.) and does not have any other function at all. Or if it has than it can be turned off or easily ignored. Thanks in Advance
