  1. I'm trying to get some old strategy games working so i can play them with my brother. He's highly autistic, and as a result he has a real fear of the internet. I was hoping to play some games with him over LAN, so we could avoid connecting him to the internet. If there's only two of us is it possible to just run an Ethernet cable between our computers or will we need a switch, even for only the two of us. If we need a switch would it be possible to use an old router (we have some lying around at home) Sorry for the basic question, networking isn't really my wheelhouse Cheers
  2. are amd drivers still as buggy as they used to be?
  3. I was watching the video on the ltt channel about the 5700xt, and i got to the bit about AMD's method of parallel processing. The video said that a game needed to be coded properly, otherwise it wouldn't take advantage of half the GPU's power. Do indie developed games, and older games support and run well on the 5700xt, or will that cause issues?
  4. I used to know more, but i've just been running a 980 for ages, and I stopped caring with how many cards nvidia were launching. How significant is the performance difference?
  5. I've been considering buying a new GPU for a while now, and I was looking at nvidia and AMD options. I'm tempted by AMD cards, but am worried that this will mean I can't use features like txaa, HBAO+ and other such gameworks features. Is this somthing I still need to consider, or do AMD cards now perform these functions fine?
  6. i'm looking to keep this cheap, so I only really want to know if the diy solution will work, though thanks for the suggestion none the less
  7. In theory, that sounds good but I don't have room for an AIO in my case, any size.
  8. I've got a GTX 980 that I bought second hand about 6 months ago. It runs fine, but I have it at about 85 percent fan speed, and it sounds like a jet engine and it still throttles at an 85 degree limit. It is an MSI reference design and I was wondering if removing the shroud and stock fan and attaching a couple of good case fans to the top would be a viable way of improving thermal, and therefore overclocking performance (As well as making it a bit quieter). Here is the best link to show the GPU (I don't think it was that popular); https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GTX-980-4GD5-V1 Thanks in advance EDIT: this should probably be in GPU's but I don't know how to move it
  9. i wish i had liquid nitrogen on tap, the 980 is one hot running card
  10. In theory, if I replaced the motor in my graphics card cooler would that work, and would it aid thermal performance.
  11. I'm upgrading my system from an rx480 8gb to a 980ti, but I only have a 550w psu not the recommended 600w, should this be ok? Thanks
  12. I only have a micro atx lga 1151 motherboard with 8 gb ddr4 Motherboard:Gigabyte H110M-S2H Motherboard (Socket 1151, H110 Express, DDR4, S-ATA 600, Micro ATX)
  13. I'm doing my first build and I am considering an 8 gb rx 480. Should I go with a 8 gb 470 and spend the saved money elsewhere, or should I stick with the 480 Thanks
