    Monitor not working...

Ok, well the ram is definitely compatible because I checked - when you say seating, I'm assuming you mean plugged into the mobo? On the board I have 2 8mb ram modules installed in the 2nd and 4th slots. I unplugged the power from the gfx card rather than take the whole card off the mobo, should i do that? Would it help to upload a picture of my mobo as it currently stands?

    Monitor not working...

Just before I dive off and buy another monitor, could it be anything else?

    Monitor not working...

Ok, so I heard no sounds to tell me, was expecting that I think. So best bet is to grab a Dell or something fit for purpose.

Hi, I'm almost ready to start my build. I have my case, my PSU (already installed), my CPU, Motherboard, Memory, Graphics Card and CPU Liquid Cooler. Only thing I haven't got is an SSD or HD yet. However, can I still install the Motherboard? I'm not going to be able to get my SSD or HD until next month but I am just eager to get started. Is it an issue to get started with installing the CPU, Ram and Motherboard into the case, and then come back to the SSD and GPU?

I'm a nightmare for this kind of stuff. I could probably wait, not done this since mid 90s though. My case is a Falcon GameMax and the SSD is behind the motherboard, just above the PSU shroud.

Ok, could I at least install the CPU? Lol.

Hi, I'm about to embark on a project, which I guess for many is their daily job or hobby. I'm planning on building a moderately decent gaming PC and I'm going to do it over the next 6-12 months. I've started by getting a case, a Game Max Falcon. I'll be honest, I have no clue where to start. I don't plan on getting any other parts for a month or so, but I had money for my birthday so I got the case. I was told I could connect the lights up to the fan, but I just don't know what I am doing. Is there any advice, any tutorials to help get me started? Thanks Nick

Well that's not likely to happen, I am aware of getting stuff that may become obsolete, so that I don't intend on doing. I'll take on board what you have said, I may well save up, but surely there are things I can get that will last. If not then I know the case will last, so I will save up for the major parts and get them in one go. Also I may well buy the parts in one go if I can, but not necessarily put them together in one go. I'm a fairly busy in my day job and life in general, and this is just a hobby for me that I wanted to do. The guy in the shop suggested I can get a full PC in one go and pay it on 12 months finance, but that kind of defeats what I want to do really.

    Why is it stupid?

I bought this one. https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/game-max-falcon-white-pc-gaming-case-with-rgb-fans-a77xk Ok, I think I understand what you mean.

I don't really have any specs or budget in mind. I'm based in the UK so all parts would be sourced here I guess. Initially I'd just like to understand how to connect the RGB lights to the fan. I am a total novice at this, but I do have a basic understanding of a computer as back in the late 90s I had many PCs which I swapped out memory, graphics cards, etc... But I'm assuming its changed somewhat since those days.

Well I guess it's not recommended by Apple.

So I want to build a decent system. Not just for gaming, but for general use also. By day I am a front end developer and my gf is a graphic designer - so we are both Mac users, and sometimes the iMac we have is occupied. So I wanted to have a PC I can use for developing on, and of course for gaming too. I earn a decent salary, but I don't really want to be dropping a lot of my salary to buy all the best components in one go - I'd rather do it over a period of time. So my first questions is, can that be done, or could I fall into the trap of components becoming obsolete? Second questions is, what would be a good starter case and motherboard? Thanks.

Ok so I'm probably rambling aimlessly here, but its a learning process right? Researching watching videos and understanding what works with what. So with that, I have another question - this time about memory. I've seen a motherboard here in this thread that supports 64mb, but the i7 processor I was looking at as a reasonable option for my needs only supports 32mb. Does that make sense? Also how can I find out if a motherboard supports the memory and processor. Sorry for all the questions, but I am learning.

A bit pricey, but if money was no object would this be nice to have? http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/intel-core-i7-4930k-socket-2011-hexacore-340ghz-processor-a17qy

Ok I am going to start considering the case. I've seen this one (actually this is the most expensive in my local store) http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/components-upgrades/tower-cases/corsair-graphite-series-780t-full-tower-pc-case-10118419-pdt.html Is this overkill? All the reviews say its the best, but it's expensive - that kind of adds up for me though. It has a lot of expansion slots, which is a plus for me, I like that option. Hmm, so maybe not.
