  1. Hey guys, I wanted to get the opinions of how feasible it is to do a Home Server/NAS build? Long term goal is an on-demand (via WOL) NAS and Email server, short-term is an on-demand home-lab where I can spin up VMs remotely to use for various things, primarily networking (think GNS3). Would a Ryzen 1700/1700X be good with the high core count? I would be maxing out the memory at 32GB immediately--which is a slight bummer because in the long term I would prefer 64 GB. Since the memory cap is holding me back, going with something server grade like the upcoming Naples seems promising for a budget solution, but how much of a price jump would I be expecting? I was this to be a semi-long term server so I am willing to spend my budget anywhere between 1800 and 2500. Thoughts, suggestions?
  2. Hey, I decided on purchasing an XPS 13 9360 model(Kaby Lake) and was curious if anyone had experience with getting the XPS dbrand skin? I haven't had an XPS before, does anyone know if the form factor is the same, would it be compatible? As an aside, anyone used the marble finish? thinking of putting that on the top and a metal finish on the trackpad, does that degrade touch sensitivty? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey, thanks. I was considering the blade stealth but I keep reading about them running into problems sometimes. Is there any word if they're going to refresh those for Kaby Lake?
  4. Interested in i7 for hyperthreading, I do some GNS3/vmware scenarios sometimes.
  5. Hey all, Trying to look for a decent laptop that will be used primarily for anything. Mostly for day-to-day, but I like to virtualize stuff sometimes for whims or curiosity, so an i7 is definitely needed. Not really going to be used for gaming, I may do the occasional game of league of legends, emulation or something similar, but nothing witcher 3 level. Most importantly I'd like something that has a good build to it, a metal body is preferred, doesn't have to be the thinnest in the world but nothing bulky. Lastly, a good screen would be great. This is rather open-ended but every time I search I always tend to wanna' veer into a gaming type of book, which I don't really want. Any suggestions? Budget is anywhere between 1100 to 1600, I'm flexible on that.
