  1. This is something akin to the Amazon Echo that was developed by a Japanese company for the purpose of being able to live together with a character. It can control your household appliances through the Internet of Things, so you can be returning from work for example and it will turn on your lights for you. However, the main purpose seems to be companionship for lonely people, and always having someone at home waiting for you. I'll admit, even I felt a bit cringey watching the video, but I'd totally buy one of these if they weren't so darn expensive and had more characters you could choose from. Maybe when they make a V2, it will be more appealing (as it always is with new technologies, you pay a lot for an unpolished product at first, but later versions refine the concept and make it more affordable.) Pre-orders are already available on their site, but I think it's limited to something around 300 units only. The price is 298,000 yen, which is about $2,500. Currently it only supports Japanese language, but there are plans to add English support later on.
