    I believe the Precision 5510 is basically the same laptop as the XPS 15. According to this (http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/xps-15-9550-compatibility-with-m-2-sata-2280-ssd.790161/) it shouldn't be a problem.
     
    Also the windows key should be tied to your motherboard so don't worry about it. Cloning will preserve your key.

    Looks like you can, just find a drive that matches the connector and you should be golden.
     
    You will have to clone the drive, which is annoying because its M.2, Or reinstall windows.
    If you are going to reinstall windows, make sure you have the anniversary update, so that you can link the serial key to your microsoft account.
