  1. The biggest hurdle is the problem is very temperamental. It's only happened a couple of times, seemingly at random. I'm still well within warranty period, so the problem might become more frequent with time. I guess I could spend a day on it, doing extensive testing and such, but that'd be a pain. I'll try and pay attention to see if I can spot anything werid. Thanks for the input!
  2. Success!! That was the problem. A faulty windows update! After manually installing the update and running it, the GPU drivers have installed properly, and works like a charm. Thanks a lot for the help!
  3. We've recently found out the current version in the machine is in the 1500s, so pretty old. Windows update is having trouble updating it. Well try to format the machine with a new windows image. Thanks for the input!
  4. My little brother has recently bought a GTX 1660 by Asus, but his older system isn't able to recognize it. We get an output to the display, and the driver that came with it installs, but the device manger lists it as a generic adapter. When trying to download the latest driver from NVIDIA's website, the driver won't even install and will output an error saying it's incompatible with the windows version (we did select the right model and are using 64 bit windows). Card was tested on Win 10 & Win 7. Error occurs in both. The specs are: Mobo: ASUS P8H61-M CPU: i7 2600k RAM: 8gb of 1333 (I think) MHz RAM PSU: 700w 80+ PSU by Aerocool OS: Win 10 Pro 64 bit Just this month I was using that old computer with an RTX 2070 just fine, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't recognize a GTX 1660. We tested the 1660 in my new computer, and it is recognized, so could it be an incompatibility issue? Does anyone have any idea why that could be happening? Thanks in advance! [SOLVED] UPDATE: The problem was Windows not being able to Update! We were running version 1511 (pretty old version), and Windows Update was having trouble updating automatically. We manually downloaded the latest (Nov 2019) update, and installed it. After that, GPU drivers have been installed, and it all works like a charm!
  5. Hey! Sorry I took so long to see your answer! The mobo is an Aorus B450M by Gigabyte, and the GPU is an RTX 2070 also by Gigabyte (the one with 3 coolers). I've recently experienced a blue screen out of nowhere with the error "FAULTY HARDWARE CORRUPTED PAGE", and sometimes see artifacts in Red Dead Redemption 2. Haven't really played anything else, so could be just RDR2 being weird (not the first person to report that), but the blue screen got me worried. Sorry again for the delay!
  6. So I just built a brand new PC a few weeks back, and this started happening all of a sudden: https://photos.app.goo.gl/RBxEVxnHeSviYJQv5 Screen would constantly flash, no icons would appear, and I wasn't able to interact with any explorer windows but the task manager. I could barely even move it around. Seemed like the "Windows Explorer" task was constantly restarting (it said suspended in task mngr). It literally started out of nowhere, and didn't go away after a few reboots. Had to boo into safe mode, and use DDU to remove the graphics drivers. Now it seems to be back to normal, but the issue got me worried. Does anyone have any idea of what might have caused it? Could it have been just a weird bug and nothing to worry about, or would it be something more serious?
  7. Thanks for the response! I forgot to add that I live in Brazil, so CL14 RAM here is really difficult to find. Both of those I mentioned above are a G.Skill CL18 3600 kit, or a HyperX 3200 CL16 one. Does that change things in any way?
  8. Hey! I should start by saying I'm a pretty standard user: Never overclock anything or do any manual tweaking anywhere. This month I'll be upgrading my rig with a Ryzen 7 3rd gen, and an Aorus b450 M mobo (probably), but I'm having trouble the RAM. I hear a lot of people say 3600 mhz is the sweetspot for the Ryzen 3rd gens, but it's more expensive. I'm not into manual tweaks anywhere, so anything other than witching a profile in the BIOS is probably too much for me. I'm willing to go 3600, since I plan on keeping this setup for the next few years, but am I making the right choice? Is it REALLY not that big of an upgrade? Is it going to be easy to unlock 3600 MHz on the mobo? It it smarter to just get a 3200 kit instead? Edit: Is a 3466 kit a good choice? Thanks in advance!
