  1. Unfortunately, that's likely. Are you still within the return period for your RAM? If you need 32gb, you're better off getting a 2x16 kit.
  2. so does mine, but it also depends on the type of RAM your using and its impact on the memory controller, as WereCat mentions. Check your motherboard's QVL, you should be able to find it on the website.
  3. I ran into the same issue with my Ryzen system. It turns out my motherboard has a "daisy chain" configuration, which means it's designed to pump more current into the primary 2 DIMM slots so that the user to achieve higher RAM overclocks. The downside is that the second two DIMM slots don't get as much current, so are unlikely to run at XMP frequencies. I would look into whether your motherboard has the same config. Hopefully your second kit is still within the return period so that you can get your money back.
  4. So, I still have much to learn about stocks, but one thing is clear: their pipeline is very strong. Next-gen consoles, increased EPYC adoption, 5000 series this year and 5nm in 2021, and their re-emergence as a strong GPU competitor; there's much to look forward to.
  5. same price? I'd say GTX 1660ti: newer architecture, better a-sync compute support and faster memory.
  6. Hey guys, Does anyone see a problem with the tube routing in this pic? I had to do it this way to get better RAM slot clearance. I could flip the rad around as well, but I'm too lazy atm. Thanks
  7. Thanks! Yeah, I guess I'd like to keep it under $300 CAD. I'm definitely not wasting money on an ultra high-end board ever again!
  8. I have a Crosshair VII hero, which I was hoping would last me quite a while. Unfortunately, I diagnosed my recent and frequent BSODs to a bad DIMM slot and I'm ready to scrap it for something new with PCI 4.0. I have a 2600x and plan to get a 5800X.
  9. I see. Thank you, that will help with my shopping
  10. Perfect. Will x570 and b550 boards support my 2600x until I get a new chip? I figure I'll buy a new board soon to fix my current DIMM slot issue. Thanks
  11. I just discovered one of the DIMM slots on my motherboard is bad. I figure I'd treat myself to AMD 5000 and a new board. Am I correct in assuming there's no new chipset coming out when the new CPUs launch next month? It's just x570 and b550? Thanks
  12. That looks so uncomfortable. Seriously, guys, I know it's expensive, but Herman Miller and Steelcase really are the way to go.
  13. If only they could also make the MS store worth using from the technical standpoint. It is an absolute nightmare to download games off of it.
  14. Wait till Ryzen 4000 is announced and released. Then, decide whether to buy a new 4600 or a discounted 3600. Also, what motherboard do you have? If it's a decent b450 or x470, you should be fine for new-gen Ryzen.
  15. How's the ergochair 2? The fact that the seat isn't mesh and the cushion rests on a hard bottom concerns me in terms of long-term comfort.
  16. If AMD somehow manages to implement ray-tracing without the 30-40% performance hit that both Turing and Ampere experience, it will be an definite upgrade for me. IMO, that's how AMD wins, even if they're not able to approach the raw performance of the 3080 in non-RT games.
  17. Good talk guys... So, I discovered this is only a problem confined to Windows sleep. When my comp goes to sleep, it can't wake because the system stops recognizing the NVME. I changed the settings from sleep to hibernate and the problem went away. It's just weird that this "upgrade" I did today killed a pretty basic function.
  18. Yes, the issue is that after it wakes from sleep it completely disappears from the boot priority list
  19. Hi all, I recently installed a WD Black SN750 drive. It's seated in the M.2_1 slot of my Crosshair VII motherboard. I did a fresh install on Windows 10 and everything went well. I'm pretty much up and running at this point. My motherboard BIOS is up to date. However, whenever my PC goes to sleep, it never wakes back up to my recent session. Instead, it reboots and tries to boot into my secondary SATA drive. When I go into the BIOS, the drive is completely undetected. The only way to boot back into my OS is to do a full power cycle of my PSU (switch it off an on again from the back). Does anyone have a remedy for this? Much appreciated.
  20. For real, the fact that y'all figured this out 3 months ago based on a couple of leaked pics is astonishing.
  21. It's about a 10 degree C difference according to Gamers Nexus. See: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3602-lian-li-lancool-ii-mesh-case-review
  22. That's not a terrible deal. Only thing is, even with the mesh panel, you're unlikely to maintain a good overclock with the stock cooler. Your funds will definitely be put to better use on that fuma 2.
  23. I agree. The big difference is that AMD now has boatloads of investor money they could put towards GPU R&D. I may be alone in this, but going from a ~180W GTX 1080 to a 350W RTX 3080 is a tough pill to swallow, even if it will be 4x as powerful.
  24. If AMD releases a 3080 competitor that draws <300W, it'll be an instant purchase for me.
