Eddie Current got a reaction from Xiauj in Office/Game Room Remodel
Well, took a brake from painting and started doing some wiring. Still waiting on some longer power and display-port cables, but I got the Ethernet cables and the ATT U-Verse box done. There's more pics on my Facebook page if your interested

Eddie Current reacted to Shanock in First Custom Loop
Hey thanks for the help everyone. Here is what I ended up with. Pretty decent for my first custom loop. Sorry for the bad photo quality.

With those goals in mind, a good solid 1080ti will be your best bet for handling all you plan to throw at it, and it won't even flinch.

From kids room to office game room!
Started with an idea and some wood.
First time to hang tile. learned that having a tile saw is a must have.
Granite guys made did a great job installing the tops. If your in the Houston area give Majestic Stone Texas a Call!
Started putting the first coats of primer and paint on the bottom shelves. Still need to finish the ends where the tile meets the end and touch-up the walls..
Used Bondo brand wood filler for the most part but tried a water based filler on the end of the desk (below), not a fan, took way longer to dry.

I like your design, I think you did a great job. OK, yes it could have benefited from a few angled fittings but I have seen and done worst myself, cheers mate.

Ordered some RGB LEDs with controller, power supply and some extra RGB wire so I could add some lights to the desks. Each roll came with 16ft of LEDs and I used 12ft (6ft on top and 6ft on bottom). I cut and soldered a jumper (RGB w/power) from top to bottom (can be seen at the left corner). Please keep in mind i still have some painting left to do so the wiring will needs to be installed in a more permanent fashion at a later date.
One of the things I needed to do is remote the IR sensor so I could change the LEDs from anywhere in the room.

Didn't like the way the bottom shelf looked so I sanded both down and repainted. Filled some nail holes and repaint of the walls.
Grouted the ends for the desk.
Have a sense of accomplishment now that I have the moisture barrier (gray) down.

It's just big enough to put a mid tower, UPS or anything else on that you don't want on the floor or on the top of the desk.
and yes, you can rest your feet on it

Eddie Current reacted to W-L in What Grease/oil is the longest lasting that does NOT run? (for plastic)
Don't use bearing grease, you want something that is compatible with plastic, something like silicone oil such as this is good as it also has teflon to help.

I like it, a Wall mounted PC above the triple screens would just complete it !

THat does look good, I'd do it the same depth as the desk and same black with no gap between it and the table so its almost a extension but with a sick ass system on it.

Yes, it fine. Anyone who faults you for such practice either has never done it or wants to see you struggle as they did when they were learning to do hard pipe.

you may have to basically rub it down then, or try one from another manufacturer, ive got like Primochill, EK and Alphacool in my mans-nerd draw lol

Eddie Current reacted to 0ld_Chicken in What do you use to retrieve their silicon bending inserts from a multi bend?
I've got a 2ft insert and I've always been able to leave one end stuck out and I usually just pull it. Sometimes it takes a twist or even some mildly soapy water

Eddie Current reacted to 0ld_Chicken in What do you use to retrieve their silicon bending inserts from a multi bend?
at ppcs it's sold by the foot so I just order a qty of 2 and they just cut a 2ft section instead of giving me 2-1ft inserts

Eddie Current reacted to 0ld_Chicken in What do you use to retrieve their silicon bending inserts from a multi bend?
just thought, they might not all be that way, some are likely prepackaged. I checked to see which one's I've bought since I know I have gotten at least 2 sizes that way
it was these 2-
PrimoChilll 3/8" ID Rigid Tube Silicon Bending Insert Solid Cord EK Silicon Bending Cord - 10mm
They'll usually note that it is sold by the foot in the description or notes
