  1. Hello everyone, My name is Ryan and I am at a complete loss with this one, and it's a long explanation so bare with me here. Any help would be much appreciated. So to start things off, I had just moved my PC (specs listed below) from my dorm to home for spring break. I started getting a GPU crash every time I would load up my preset overclocking file in AMD Radeon Settings (which is an overclock that worked for years before this). Even if I just tried to move the core clock 5 Mhz, I would get this checkerboard looking screen, my screen would go black, and then AMD Radeon settings would give me the "unknown error occurred, restored settings to default" message. I thought this to be particularly strange because I wasn't running anything graphically intensive, there was no game, benchmark, etc. running. Nothing would be open except radeon settings, and just changing that one slider (state 7 slider) caused it to catastrophically crash. This means the GPU was never reaching that 5Mhz higher clock speed, so the crash doesn't make sense from a stability standpoint. I also found this strange because I have been running an overclock of 34Mhz for years (1266 is stock) for years with no stability troubles. I tried increasing voltage too, no luck. It just boggles my mind that changing the state 7 slider up just 5 Mhz would cause an instantaneous crash when the card is running at it's lowest clock speed of 300 MHz. I can change everything else in Radeon settings fine with no issues. I played rocket league for 3 hours with the core clock at stock, the memory overclocked how it's been for years, the power slider up 50%, and my custom fan curve with no problems. Then upon trying to find out why this was happening, I noticed that my monitor was only being recognized as a generic PnP in device manager, where it has always said "LG ULTRAWIDE 34UC79G" previously. I have no idea if these issues are linked in some way, but since they popped up at the same time, I think they might be. It could be a possibility that since windows isn't recognizing this monitor correctly, but the Radeon software is, there could be some sort of confliction here, but I can't understand why the overclock would trigger that. This is also perplexing because when a monitor is only recognized as Generic PnP, the refresh rate and resolution tend to get messed up, but I am running both at native. Something else that could be affecting these issues is a complete uninstall of the Intel integrated graphics drivers. This solved a problem where all hotkeys within the radeon software would not work, including radeon overlay. I'm also not sure if that is related. I have tried re-installing the iGPU drivers, but I keep getting a message saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software", which is another problem in itself I would imagine. I have done this for troubleshooting so far: re-seat the GPU, run the windows file integrity check (the sfc /scannow in powershell), install previous and the newest versions of the AMD radeon settings / drivers, uninstall all video drivers with Display Diver Uninstaller in safe mode, uninstall drivers with AMD's own cleanup utility in safe mode, tried to update, roll back, disable, etc. both the generic PnP monitor and the GPU in device manager, restart a bunch of times, and unpluging power from the wall and holding the power buttons on the monitor and tower to get rid of any residual electricity / capacitance and letting it sit for 3 hours before powering the system back on. Here are the specs: Intel i5-6600K (OC to 4.5 GHz) Processor 16GB (2x8) DDR4-2600Mhz G. 2. Hello all so yesterday I had my Corsair H105 leak on me. I was replacing the thermal paste and the fittings came loose when i tried to move the tubes up to get to the bottom screws of the CPU block. I'm a little confused as to what to do next as everything online recommends different things and different materials to help clean the water out. The computer was unplugged and off for several hours before the spill occurred by the way. I removed and de-socketed everything I could think of. I even took apart the GPU and my main SSD to see if water got in there... it did but not a lot. I also have some airflow over the components via a window mounted AC unit and a fan pointed directly on the components Should I bathe all my comments in isopropyl alcohol given their current status or use some other cleaning material? Common sense would lead me to believe the alcohol would do the trick since it evaporates quickly and it would help rid any water that I cant see. But there are people out there that say it can hurt the components. Any help would be appreciated since I want the best possible chance of not bricking any hardware. Thanks in advance and the specs are below: i5-6600k OC 4.5 GHz Corsair H105 AIO CPU cooler Asus Z170-A Motherboard 16GB DDR4-2400 MHz G.Skill Ripjaws Memory Asus Dual RX480 4GB (the product lineup not running 2 GPUS) EVGA 650 GQ PSU 128 M.2 SSD for boot 1tb 2.5 inch OCZ SATA SSD for main storage 1tb WD Blue HDD Corsair 450D Mid tower case
  3. Hello all so tonight I had my Corsair H105 leak on me today. I was trying to just change the thermal paste and the fittings came loose when i tried to move the tubes up to get to the bottom 2 screws of the CPU block. The piece of plastic that locks the tubes in place broke somehow. Anyway I'm a little confused as to what to do next as everything online recommends different things and different materials to help clean the water out. The computer was unplugged and off for several hours before the spill occurred by the way. I removed and de-socketed everything I could think of. I even took apart the GPU and my main SSD to see if water got in there... it did but not a lot. I also have some airflow over the components via a window mounted AC unit. Should I bathe all my comments in isopropyl alcohol given their current status or use some other cleaning material? Common sense would lead me to believe the alcohol would do the trick since it evaporates quickly but there are people out there that say it's bad so any help would be appreciated since I want the best possible chance to not have any dead components. Thanks in advance! 4. Awesome thank you both @TheBeastPCand @Windows7ge I'm in the process of reinstalling windows so that'll take some time and ill disable the updates as well. If it doesn't work by the time I get to the computer in the morning (letting it do its thing and reinstall windows while I sleep lol) ill be back to ask more questions and ill let you guys know if it works tomorrow too. Thanks again!
  5. @Windows7ge Its at 0% almost the entire time with very occasional spikes, like the normal amount of spikes you would expect and the OS is factory. I'm also completely resetting the whole PC and completely reinstalling Windows so hopefully that fixes it
  6. Hello All! So my friends laptop is an HP Spectre x360 and everytime it boots the computer takes forever to load the desktop screen right after the login screen. So basically I was setting up War Thunder for him and I exited the game no problem and just closed the laptop. I opened it again and windows did an automatic update (which I'm confused about because it should have only been in sleep mode) and once I logged back in again I was greeted with a black screen for about 10 minutes and then the desktop screen finally loaded. I have tried reinstalling GPU drivers from both device manager and GeForce Experience with no luck. I also tried rolling back to the version of windows he had installed before this latest automatic update occurred and I still had no luck. Also during the black screen I can still do Ctrl + Alt + Delete and that comes up fine and I can open task manager and open the file explorer and successfully open anything that I can find on his hard drive. Windows explorer (aka explorer.exe) also gives me a "restart" option when I am in task manager while it is black screened, and whenever I tried that restart nothing happened until I just waited for the desktop / explorer.exe to kick in. I also tried the windows key + e which is supposed to open explorer.exe and I tried manually opening explorer.exe through task manager and that also didn't work. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance! Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-7500U RAM: 16GB DDR4-2133MHz GPU: GeForce GTX 940mx Storage: 512GB SSD
  7. Awesome thank you CableMod! That totally helped a ton and that if I cut it and then burn it and then use @zak rooley's idea that should work very well. Thank you all! Means a ton
  8. Okay awesome thank you! I think its because the little clips that attach to the end of it are designed for I think 3/8 OD tubing but i think the tubing of the h105 is 5/8 OD so I don't think the securing clips will fit but I'm not sure. That's okay with me though because I can just do a simple ghetto solution with tape but I don't wanna buy them and find out the tubes are too short for the tubes lol. I legit can't find anything on tube length so I'm not sure if I need to buy one or 2 kits to cover up the whole tube
  9. Hello All! So I have a Corsair H105 liquid cooler and I would like to use the white CableMod AIO Sleeving Kit on it. I know this product does not natively support the H105 but I was wondering if with some modification this would work on these tubes. I'm not actually sure why this cooler isn't compatible but I would figure it's either tube length or outer diameter so is the problem the fittings that secure the sleeve or something else? Is it possible to mod this sleeving kit to work with the H105? Feel free to post help no matter how ghetto the solution is. Thanks in advance! Here's a link for both products: H105: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-series-h105-240mm-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler AIO Sleeving Kit: https://cablemod.com/product/cablemod-aio-sleeving-kit-series-1-for-corsair-hydro-gen-2-white/
  10. Thats what I was thinking of doing and that's also the first problem I thought of but I figured I would post it in case someone had a fix that I could do without breaking the warranty
  11. Hello all! So I just purchased a Dell Precision 15 5000 (5510) and have been having some strange screen behaviors. This is what it looks like. It seems to happen at random times and the computer is not crashed. The very top of the screen still works as normal because I can open Google chrome while in this state. If I turn it off and power it right back on again the screen becomes even worse and shows part of the Windows log in screen and the web page I had open beforehand (they're like overlayed). If I power off and wait a while before the restart then this problem goes away but very noticeable flickering occurs and then the precious problem persists. I have updated all nvidia drivers and even the integrated graphics drivers before the screen did this and the same thing happened shortly after restarting after i installed drivers. I can't find any information on this problem and any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance! Specs: CPU: Intel Core i5-6300hq Ram: 8GB (4×2) 2133mhz GPU: Nvidia Quadro M1000M (2GB version) Storage: 256GB NVMe ssd and a 1tb 5400rmp hard disk drive Display: 1920×1080 IPS Panel
  12. Hello all! So I have a slightly older laptop, an HP Envy Dv6-7300t and the battery has gone bad. I have plans to get a new battery but even when this laptop was new the battery life wasn't that great, so I'm in the market for a mobile laptop charger. I am having some trouble finding a mobile laptop charger that is compatible with this specific and laptop. I can't seem to find one charger that has this specific plug that will actually fit into my laptop. Any help you guys can give me on finding a mobile laptop charger that will work with this laptop would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
  13. Awesome, well thank you both Tb428 and pwn_intended for your help!
  14. I tested the psu on another computer, which worked perfectly fine
  15. Hm but how could it be bad if it worked on the other computer?
