  1. PC is on and working. I checked the cables, replaced the ram with the ram I was using before (single stick) and jumped the CMOS again. Got lucky and now I'm not even touching bios because I don't wanna risk it. Can anyone explain how I can overclock my cpu without running into these issues? I did flash my bios for memory compatibility updates but my CPU was NOT overclocked when I flashed, and I made sure all the bios settings were reset to default.
  2. I recently bought new ram. Little did I know that a simple task such as replacing ram would end up with my pc not booting at all.I placed the new ram in and it booted fine, told me it recognized new components so I had to go into bios or launch with default timings. I went into bios to fix my settings (i had a stable overclock cpu at 3.7 ghz / 1.35V before replacing ram) and I turned on a-xmp for my ram. Exited bios, and it wouldn't boot. I tried to leave it on for 10 minutes so it could reset at POST but internal power was lost after about 6 minutes.I pulled the mobo battery for 5 seconds and managed to get it to boot again. This time i used default timings to get to desktop screen, everything worked ok. So i turned off the pc and went into bios. this time I ONLY changed my cpu overclock settings, again to what I had them before replacing my ram. turned of PC to restart and now I'm back to square one; no boot. I tried pulling battery again for 5 seconds, but this time it didn't work, still no boot. Then I shorted the CMOS pins as instructed in the manual. I turned on, no boot but the CPU and DRAM debug lights on the mobo are on, and the PC stays internally powered for as long as I keep it on. I still don't get any power to usb or monitor signal. Now what?MOBO : Tomahawk B350CPU : Ryzen 7 1700RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz (2x8GB)GPU : Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB SSC
  3. is it a fault with the power supply? or the way everything's plugged in maybe?
  4. nvm the graphics stuff I just want the machine to start booting right when I hit the power button as opposed to waiting 5-6 seconds, then beginning to boot. It did this when I had it at stock settings for the cpu aswell.
  5. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXCMxY - my PC stats. I am having problems on startup. I will hit the power button, and for 4-5 seconds (and some times even longer) it will do nothing. After that, the pc starts up normally. Why does it wait to start up? Another issue I'm having has to do with my CPU acting weird. I have it overclocked stable at 3.8 ghz with minimal voltage running through it in attempt to preserve life-expectancy. It seems, however, that some games do not run very well on the cpu side. Fore example I can't get fortnite on full graphics without dipping under 60fps when looking at large areas (cities, etc). Do I need to pump more voltage through it? I'm a noob EDIT: It may be worth noting that I only have 50GB left on my ssd harddrive (main) and I don't have a backup. however that shouldn't cause problems right? Thanks Ry
  6. Hello All, With hardware monitor open I stress tested my cpu using aida 64. I'm seeing two different temp readings; CPUTIN (under motherboard temp) reading 78C stable, and "Package" (under cpu > temperatures) reading 45C with a max of 56C. Also, the temp reading on aida64 for CPU is 45C. Which temperature reading should I look at? Is there a way to see all the core temps? I'm running overclocked at 3.975GHz (from 3.0) @ 1.45V with Corsair H60 water cooling. Here is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXCMxY Thanks, Ryan
  7. Negatory. I have it on now but I returned the ram settings to AUTO (2133 and auto voltage) Should I try again with a-XMP on?
  8. Hello all! Here is my purchased build - https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXCMxY I have had problems with the RAM I purchased. I purchased Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory In amd b350 tomahawk bios (which was flashed to latest update, 7A34v15) it tells me that the ram is running at 2133MHz. Therefore, I increased the frequency to DDR4-2400MHz as that is what the ram SHOULD be at. When booting, I ran into several problems and crashed several times (blue screen) giving different error codes, one of which was "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". Couldn't reach desktop. I then increased the D-RAM voltage to 1.35 (which was suggested online) and was able to get into my desktop, however programs that I'd open (chrome, hardware monitor) crashed frequently and it was not bug-free. Any reason why I can't get the ram stable to the speed it SHOULD be at? Thanks, Ryan
  9. Interesting... I was just about to head out to pick up arctic mx4. I don't mind spending the extra $12. I will be overclocking the cpu, for gaming and music prod. Even with this in mind, you would say pre-applied will work fine? Please let me know asap Thanks
  10. Hello all. I have a ryzen 7 1700 with a corsair h60 liquid cooler and was intending to overclock the ryzen most of the time. (Gaming, music production) This is my build for those interested: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXCMxY Was wondering if it's worth it to remove the pre-applied thermal paste and purchase new paste (recommendations please) or if the stock pre-applied thermal paste will do. Thanks! Ry
  11. what do you think would be more efficient? i have no clue where... my brother is gonna help me piece it all together when it comes.
  12. ok here's the final build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXCMxY went with corsair liquid cooling any last suggestions before a blow all my $$ ? (not actually) just don't wanna have to deal with any setup problems etc
  13. okay. all i'm worried about is mounting it... but if it'll be no problem then I can deal with the extra $40-50
  14. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ ight so i threw a tomahawk b350 on there. I don't really know how overclockign works..... but i took off the cooler and just wanna make sure i can overclock this right
  15. forgot about the chipset. apparently b chipset's won't support overclocking?
  16. Hmm i was told i don't need to manually overclock it it should do it itself when in game/rendering/etc? So what cooling should i get if the current won't mount? so that it will be able to overclock?

Please take a look n let me know if you would make any changes. 1) Will the liquid cooler mount on the ryzen? It shows a warning saying it may not or I might have to buy a mount separately. "The Cooler Master - Seidon 120V 86.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the MSI - B350 PC MATE ATX AM4 Motherboard." 2) This will be for music production after school and gaming on the side. Sound card is taken care of. 3) Is it worth buying the ryzen 1700x over the 1700 for the extra $50 Thanks all. hyped to buy this today!!
  18. Alright good to know. Thanks for all your help lads! ??
  19. I like this build and will be using it for any further changes. Would you choose the 470 4gb over the 1060 3gb as they are relatively the same price?
  20. Actually I plan to use this computer for music production after my schooling, so it is more serious with gaming on the side. Let's disregard the two monitors for now, as I have one already I can use. I totally forgot about a sound card and have absolutely no clue where even to start. Will need one for what I'm hoping to do, however my audio interface (Scarlett 18i20) has an internal clock which basically takes away latency for the most part so it's not dependant on my pc. In the event that I just use my scarlett for that, would you still recommend a sound card for other functions? Whats a good cheap option? I'm not 100% sure what the soundcard does tbh. Dont tell me to use a mac
  21. Cool! Do you think that would be overall cheaper than the 500 ssd alone? Or just more space efficient?
  22. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/WPbM4C Link to build ^^^^^^ 1. Budget & Location $1200 CA including tax & shipping ideally 2. Aim Gaming, music production, maybe a little bit of video editing. 3. Monitors Two would be ideal. With this budget though I'd be willing to settle for 1. 4. Peripherals I put a black widow in the build. My bro has one and I like the feel of it. Also only $90. Willing to look at others though. 5. Why are you upgrading? Nothing to upgrade from, this is all new. Suggestions? What do you all think? Anything you would change on this budget? Love yall, Ryguy
