  1. Currently the 16TB Exo Seagate drives are on Sale.. https://www.newegg.ca/seagate-exos-x16-st16000nm001g-16tb/p/1Z4-002P-015K6?Item=1Z4-002P-015K6 Thoughts? Also I am looking at replacing my case, I dont want it any larger than the Antec 900 but more drive bays would be good (currently I dont have any way to mount them, so I only have room for two currently). the Meshify Looks reasonable for drive and airflow... thoughts?
  2. Will the 250gb cache handle that then? or are you talking about seperate SSDs. Also the one time cost for unraid is insignificant and can be counted outside the budget. More looking for advice on which specific drives to get. 4 or 6tb will work - my needs are not specific and can always expand in future.
  3. Hi, I am starting my first home server for Plex/general file storage, and maybe a small game server (Valheim/minecraft etc for me + a few friends if it can handle it). I am planning on running Unraid. Specs below: I5 - 4670k @3.4, 16gb Ram @3400mhz, Nvidia 770 Current Drives - two 250gb Samsung EVO SSDs I am wondering, what hard drives should I use? I am looking at 4 4 or 6 TB hard drives but I am looking for what is the best bang for buck, or if I should consider something else. This would allow for the two ssds to act as cache, 3 storage HDs and 1 for parity. I was looking into the WD Red or Seagate Ironwolf, does it make a big difference for the 5400rpm/7200rpm? Budget is sub 1k, more looking for thoughts. Also my case is the Antec 900 (I know, its an oldie - but its what I have laying around), does anyone know how I get more drive cages for these in 2023? I have room for the four drives but not a way to attach to the case since it was gutted. I haven't done any of this before so please let me know of any recommendations. Thanks Edit ** 250gb not 512gb SSD**
  4. Hey all; a local computer store has a 3080ti in stock for about $2100-2300 CAD (I think the Asus tuf 3080ti for CAD$2200 approx). is this reasonable for Canadian pricing?
  5. Sounds good - i'll try a different cable. Not a big deal since most games wont run at 144hz at 1440p on this machine either way so im not overly worried if im stuck at 100hz and i just wanted a sanity check, I am overbuying the monitor a bit as they last a long time, and i have a similar one already so i know what im getting without having to do much research. Thanks!
  6. https://www.amazon.com/Syncwire-HDMI-Cable-6-5-2-0/dp/B071WBWGBT is the cable im pretty sure I'm using... really not sure since this should support it?
  7. Hey all, I was wonder if my Razer Blade 15 (specs in title) will run my lg 27gl850b at 144hz? I have that monitor for my main pc. however i am looking to get a second (more likely the lower spec 27 inch 144hz, 1440p that LG has) at my parents place as I work from home for a bit. Currently, its only letting me push the gl850 at 100hz via HDMI, is there a reason for this? I am unable to find any limitations showing it shouldnt run it at 144hz. The manual for the monitor states I can run it at 144hz via hdmi? Thanks
  8. I bought the BOYA by M1 Lavalier Microphone for $26 CAD, however if this sucks because its so cheap (the reviews ive seen were pretty good tho so il try it), I have $230 left in my budget
  9. Hey all, I am looking into starting a youtube channel for talking about personal finance. I am looking at potential affordable starter audio options for this, and was looking for a cheaper/ yet still decent quality lavalier mic. Does anyone have any recommendations, or should I use a different type of mic (such as Shotgun). I am planning on using a Canon Camera.
  10. I was looking for a reasonable lavalier mic, but thats a different discussion. I have a good PC that would be able to edit in 4k and was thinking the same thing relating to the creative options. Might be out of my price range right now tho
  11. Sounds good, 4k was just a suggestion (depending on price point )
  12. Toronto Canada, a reasonable price is fine (under $1k preferred)
  13. Hi! Sorry if there has been a post already about this, but i am looking for recommendations for starter youtuber cameras (I would like to start filming personal finance videos). In addition, if possible I would also like something that I could use for Nature pics or general photography (if thats an option for both, im not 100% educated on camera body vs lens). Are there reasonable 4k camera options, or is it better to start w 1080p to begin with? Thanks!
  14. So update, seemingly after the 10th reboot (since i've just been doing the work around for the past few days to get back into windows) it updated correctly...... Odd that once i finally ask for help it auto resolves haha. Ty for the answer tho for if it happens in the future
  15. So im in normal windows now as it has undone the update, can i add those command lines into it there? or does it need to be in safemode
