  1. The answer is very clear to me. With that CPU a 1060 will defiantly be draging you doun and at that point you might as well get an I5. I have a 1070 and a 6600k and I have definitely found the sweet spot. Idd get a 1070 if I were you as it will run any game easy 144hz. There is no point in getting a 1060 if you are just going to use it while saving for a card 1 rung up in the latter. Just use your igpu for a while and go for the 1070. It's only a bit more (relatively) than the 1060 and it's on the price/preformance sweet spot. BTW ethereum mining is at a bit of a low rn so I would watch the prices closely if I were you. edit: I base this post on the CPU in the pc part picker page but the same would go for a ryzen 7
  2. Like I said before, It's likely a driver issues. This is indicated by the computer running faster in non sli. Try DDU and reinstall drivers. Also if it's possible, do a fresh windows install. I can't gaurentee a fix but I know that ddu saved my butt from some glitches yesterday. If that doesn't work I'd contact your manufacturer. Idk how much they will actually know... in fact I doubt that they will even know what sli is so.. maby contact nvidia. Idk if they have a support line but it's your best bet. Good luck! edit: also try to re seat the cards and see what fps you get on the other one in non sli. Make sure they both play with similar fps in non sli.
  3. Yo you guys are all off topic. He asked a question and you all are arguing over something he clearly said he doesn't want ("I realy don't want to buy used"), so a 780 is out of the question. From my experience the 1070 is a sweet spot. I was going to get a 1060 but I sprung the cash for the 1070 and I don't regret it. Even with the 1070 I find myself holding back a bit on some settings in some games to maintain the fps for 144hz. Many of those online fps type games are fine on a 1060 but many of the more graficaly intense games may be demanding for the 1060, not in vram but in core usage. However also keep in mind cooling. I have the 1070 strix in cool ambient temperature in a large water cooled case and I maintain decent temps however a smaller cooler in a smaller case may not be great for the 1070. I know that the 1060 is a cooler card.
  4. That low fps is quite strange, try to disable sli and see what fps you get. Might just be software. Keep in mind your monitor. If it's 60hz a huge fps is pointless. Anything like 144hz would ask for a lot more.
  5. You know... imm still trying to figure out how linus managed to not drop the vega OR the Alienware...
  6. Just got my new monitor in the mail and it needs some setup. it isnt hard to set up the 144+ hz or anything but idk how to setup gsync or calibrate it. when i first started it the screen saver definatly looked odd. its one of windows stock pictures of a starry night with a green tent. The darks look choppy and pixilated. the sunset is not as vivid as my other monitor and looks a bit washed out. Idk what els to do. can u guys help me.
  7. unless you want to crack for a higher price you are a little out of luck
  8. I haven't looked but i dont think that will be possible for a while still. mining is still a big deal so you might have to wait
  9. nvm imm partialy stupid.... i just restarted my computer and It was og
  10. So i just posted a thread because I thought that my GPU couldn't handle the mine craft shades I was using but it turns out my cpu was what was dieing. so i turned of shaders and I was getting 400 fps until i went to a city in the server I was on. fps doped to a brain tumor 30fps. Im stil suffering from ptsd from this experience. idk what to do. changing settings like graphics from fancy to fast makes it jump 100fps but it dwindles down to 30 shortly after. This is killing me. why
  11. thats what I was thinking. thanks for the help.
  12. and doing alt tab into the minecraft tab is painful
  13. update: while moving or panning around its smooth but gets random drops and micro stutters.
  14. its smooth for 50 fps but im still concerned a frame drop will induce crippling depression
  15. CPU doesn't like mine craft apparently. i had system up to 30% a minute ago
  16. btw do u need debug vew or somthing
  17. There are 2 packs ive been trying. The first 1 is giving me about 70fps and the second is giving me 40-50
  18. Crap how do I un solve a thread. That was a mistake
  19. I haven't checked yet if it is but I doubt it is because it is just a shader and the only other mod I have is for a mini map. If anything it's suing up graphics ram but I have a surplus. How do I do that
  20. 6600k at 4.7, 1070 strix, 8gb ram, corsair H100i,
  21. So i decided to play some mine craft on my new strix 1070 cause y not. So i got like 200 fps and got bored so i downloaded some heavy shades. They look great but imm concerned. fraps says imm getting 45 fps but the websight says that the lowest I should be getting is 60 fps... on a 960. I want to be getting way higher than 45 fps in mine craft! It is not incredibly noticeable but if i enter an area with a lot of stuff it will probably drop. I have the render on a sad 12 chunks (I need to max). wats up with my game or card. idk how to fix it.
