  1. I got around to using one of the 3D printers at my school and found that the whole process is quite easy. It sparked a bit of an interest for me and I decided that I want to look into buying a printer of my own. I’m not sure what I am looking for other than what I need it for. I have an interest in model rockets so I will likely be printing some parts which are larger than small and perhaps taller than they are wide (I know I am being vague). I will probably have a relatively low budget of (likely) below 500 cad. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
  2. My mom asked me today for advice on headphones. She said she was looking to buy a pair of wireless beats but she did not know what price point to go for. I told her I would do some research and come back to her. Naturally, that means asking someone better versed in audio equipment. First off I know that beats are often overpriced for what they are so I will not restrict the search to any one brand. She says that she wants something wireless which she can wear for working out and for general use. She did not give me a price point, she just said that she wants them to be good quality. I am open to any suggestion, Thanks. Edit: I should add that she insists on them being over ears, she does not like in-ear earbuds.
  3. Ok cool, I’ll probably get the 58x when I have a chance, thanks.
  4. Ok thanks, that’s very helpful. If I am able to stretch for the hd 650’s is that something I should stretch for. What kind of difference would I find between the 650 and the 58x
  5. So I currently have a hyper x cloud 2 headset which I use for gaming and music. I originally used it’s built in mic but when the 3.5mm jack bent it stopped working so I bought a stand alone mic. I ended up replacing the 3.5mm jack with a 3.5mm screw terminal jack to fix some weird audio clipping but there was a trade off in the form of excessive jank. It’s easy enough to forget about but regardless it’s time for an upgrade. I have been looking for something a little higher quality which does not have a built in mic. I looked around at some Sennheiser headphones but I am not much of an audiophile so I don’t know what to look for. I have a few hundred dollars cad to spend. I don’t have any particular preferences besides them being over ear. It would be nice if they would interface with a 3.5mm so I can plug them into my yeti mic but a USB set isn’t a big turn off. I am not looking to buy any other audio equipment unless the benefits of doing so are substantial so no professional interfaces. Thanks.
  6. Alright, then I guess I will wait and see what the next gen looks like. thanks.
  7. I got my paycheck recently and I was hoping to pour some money into my computer. My current system has: 6600k (oc to 4.5ghz), 2x8 gigs of hyper x predator at 2333 (default speed because xmp is broke) asus z170-a, Corsair h100 i, asus strix 1070, Corsair cx650m. I am looking at replacing my mobo and cpu with something more recent. I can get ryzen 7 2700 and an Asus prime mobo for under 500 cad however before I go ahead with this I want to know if there are any other options which may be more compelling. My parameters are as follows: Asus rgb mobo to go with my gpu and rgb ram, total under 600 cad (preferably under 550), atx form factor, and overclocking capability would be nice. My use case is primarily gaming.
  8. I have all of the couplers set the same for fuel pass through as they were on the land test. They all display "disable crossfeed", I also tried with them all saying "enable crossfeed" but that did not work either. There is no way for me to run fuel lines with a ship assembled in orbit. I could do that in the VAB but this one went up in pieces and I often swap that bottom section out when I unlock new stuff.
  9. I assembled a large and relatively modular ship in orbit recently for the purpose of interplanetary travel. I wanted to attach a nuclear engine to the bottom of the ship for more efficient long-range thrust however it seems that It isn't drawing fuel properly. It is attached using a few sets of decouplers and a few service bays and a few hitchhiker cans lie between the engine and the tanks. I make this configuration on the ground and it works just fine but no matter what I try in space it won't fire or even recognizes the fuel being attached to the engine. The only real difference between the ground config and the space one is that the space one was assembled in space and the ground one being assembled in the VAB. Here is a picture, any ideas?
  10. what is the correct timing? and I might try the 3000 profile to see if it is any different.
  11. It is on the default 3200 xmp setting, I have reseated them once.
  12. I recently got a 16 gig kit of Hyper x 3200 rgm ram. I installed it and it is properly detected in bios and in windows. The issues started when I opened rust and joined a server. All the sudden my mouse and keyboard randomly disconnect and reconnect causing unavoidable issues when typing and navigating. My yeti usb mic also is outputting strange crackling fragments to my 2.5mm headset. I was able to fix the keyboard and mouse issue by plugging them into my pc instead of my monitor however the mic issues persist. I have tried different headsets plugged into the yeti but it's all the same. I installed new usb drivers but that did not help either. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could fix this? Thanks.
  13. Im looking at upgrading my pc soon and I've got about 300 cad to throw around. My tendency to hoard chrome tabs while in games is a problem I don't intend to address so a ram upgrade is nessicary. I've found a set of HyperX Predator RGB 16GB DDR4 3200MHz at my local MemX on a big-time sale. After this, I am still left with a storage issue, I've got about 16 gigs left on my ssd and 60 on my hard drive. I was looking for an upgrade for the ssd and thought I would go for an NVMe drive. There are a lot of options and thought I would ask someone who is more experienced with storage. I have about 100 cad with some flexibility and I need something with either 240 or 500 ish (my current ssd is a sata drive with 128 gigs). I'm looking for one available at this store because I would rather go in store than get it shipped https://www.memoryexpress.com/Category/HardDrives. Thanks!
  14. Ok thanks for your information, I appreciate it. I consulted some of my teachers about this as well and while the did not know if it was allowed they did say that for the university programs I am looking into the Nspire was better than the 84. I am not very concerned about the price as it costs the same as an 84 which I would have been getting anyway so I might as well buy the usually more expensive one. As you said, if it isn't what I am looking for I can re-sell it and get something different.
  15. For context, I live in Alberta and our 12th-grade finals are the diplomas. So I recently lost my ti 84 and finals are just around the corner. I started researching calculators yesterday and found that I can order a Nspire cx for the same price as buying a ti84 in store. I also noticed that for also the same price I could get a Ti Nspire Cx CAS (normally a much more expensive calculator). My problem is that on my provinces website the Nspire cx is listed as allowed on diplomas but not the CAS version. I don't know if this is because it is an old list or they are just not that detailed (it is kind of the same calculator). I asked my admin who is basically the authority figure on the diploma exams and he said that as long as they can clear the memory of the calculators and information is not being stored the calculator is allowed. I would assume that because the non-CAS version fits these criteria that the CAS version would as well however I just want to be sure. Does anyone have experience with the TI Nspire CX CAS and knows if it fits the criteria?
  16. Thats alright, I appreciate your help.
  17. Ok, thanks for the advice on filters, I will definitely add a few to my list. Do you have any knowledge of the compatibility of the parts I have selected, my main concern is using both 1.25 and 2" parts. The focuser looks to have the ability to tighten evenly down to 1.25 but I am a bit of an optics newbie so I just want to make sure. Also, should I get a collimator?
  18. I am looking into buying myself a telescope for Christmas this year about I don't know a whole lot about telescopes yet. Imm looking for a Dobsonian which can view some interstellar objects like nebula and galaxies. I have a loose budget of 1k Canadian (loose means +-700). I have been experimenting on the Orion build a telescope page to get a general idea of what I am looking at. I chose a 10" tube with the 2-speed focuser. I chose a few deep field 2' lenses as well as a few 1.25' wide angle lenses. I took into account that I would get a 2x Barlow lens for both the 1.25 and 2' lenses. I threw in a case, right angle spotter, a raised base, and accessory case as well. This is the cart I made. First of all, I need to know if I am missing anything. Do I need a collimator and should I worry about a decent filter kit? Do I require an adapter for 2"-1.25" lenses on this setup? The focuser says that it is a 2". Idk if there is anyone on this forum with an interest in telescopes but any info is appreciated. P.S. I live In a fairly light polluted area. I don't plan on using it entirely at home but it would be nice if I could use it once and a while without having to drive far. Is there anything I can do to handle the light pollution better? Larger tube, filter, lenses?
  19. This is an issue I have only had in Kerbal space program. The issue happens when I load into the game and alt tab to access another window. I fixed it once by turning full screen off then on again. It can be fixed by relaunching the game. I have a 1070, 6600k, 8gb ram. I have a gsync monitor at 144 hz and a secondary monitor which is at 60hz. I updated my graphics drivers after the issue started. Not much else to be said, thanks.
  20. cool, ill look into that
  21. So I recently moved into a new house and in the time between the possession of this house and the sale of my last one I was without my pc. I watched a lot of Netflix on my iPad using my hyperx cloud 2's and later found out that I managed to bend the 3.5mm jack. One of the side effects of this is that my mic is super quiet and only works if the prong is turned in a very specific position. I've considered replacing the jack and I even bought a soldering iron but I am unsure if I'll be able to do a good enough job to have a properly working headset (i tried once with a sacrificial pair of headphones and sacrificial prong and I only got one earpiece working). Considering that the mic on these headphones wasn't fantastic to begin with I thought i might just buy a separate mic. Imm looking for anything that's under the $50 cad price point which uses a usb connection and is of decent audio quality. I might be a little flexible with the price within a margin of $10 if $50 brings up nothing. Thanks in advance for the help. P.S. If anyone knows the wiring arrangement for the hyperx cloud 2's (which colour corresponds to which pole on the jack) plz share. If i could know without a doubt where each wire goes idd be willing to just spend a few bucks on a new jack and replace it.
  22. Thanks a lot for the help. I now have working internet on 4 of my nine ports. I’m going to buy a bigger switch to acomadate the rest of these cables.
  23. I have some moving stuff to do. I’ll be inactive for the next hour or so. Thanks for the help so far
  24. that’s the closest thing I have to a switch. I usually use it for the tv, Apple TV, and consol in the living room. Otherwise all I know is that every one of the cable in that module run directly to an outlet.
