  1. Considering that people gain sudden interests in upgrading their PCs from a very old rigs, it's not unusual that people are willing to spend on new parts. Actually there is, go check it out.
  2. I said I can't answer which is bottlenecking which, thusly I suggest switching out the entire system because it's very old and unless someone is going for 1080p in e-sports titles, it won't hold up. That I can tell by looking at benchmarks for that specific CPU and compare it to other CPUs that I have personal experience of and can from that deduct that even though it is a good value, especially if one has been using it for quite some time, it's not unreasonable to recommend switching it out. Especially since it runs on a ddr3 platform and most games nowadays recommends ddr4 for performance stability. You can absolutely still squeeze a few extra miles out but you can right now get CPUs that will easily outperform it without spending even close to a fortune.
  3. That was 100% a bm comment for no reason.
  4. I wrote that I can't answer what's holding back what. Sit down kid
  5. I can't honestly answer your question, that's a 7 year old GPU and a 6 generation old CPU. My best advice would be to upgrade your entire system. Try finding used parts to get around a bit cheaper if you're able to.
  6. Please post full specs of your rig and we'll have better opportunity to evaluate what might be holding your system back
  7. Here's a video of some benchmarks with the R5 1600 paired with a GTX 1070 that might be of use. There are plenty of benchmarks made for CPUs in that price range paired with a GTX 1070 so just look around 'til you find something that suits you.
  8. That's a lie. I'm hitting 2933 without any problem on my R7 1800x right now and I hit the same speed with my R5 1600. The memory I'm using is Team Group Night Hawk RGB rated at 3000 MHz and they're not on the qvl so it was a long shot. I can show you some numbers later tonight unless you can find them yourself by browsing benchmarks etc but easily noted differences can be seen in i.e. cinebench r15 between the same CPU at the same clock but with different frequencies on the RAM. The difference between 3200 and 3000 isn't huge but there is one, the same with 3000 (2933) and lower such as 26** etc.
  9. I would go for the cheapest 16GB kit you can find that's on the qvl. RAM cost is so high right now and the difference between 3000 and 3200 is minimal so unless there's practically no difference in prices between the 3000 and 3200 kit, I'd go for the 3000 one. The Corsair Vengeance LPX is pretty reliable so if you can find them for a reasonable price, I'd go for it.
  10. Well, painting the GPU is a bad idea. You can paint the fan shroud with a rubber based spray paint. If you want to paint the backplate, I would choose a heat conducting paint such as ones used to paint engine parts or fire barrels. Using something like a rubber based for the backplate would cancel the heat emitting function of it and most likely increase your temps.
  11. That would certainly be a viable option if it wasn't for the small hickup that the 470 is absolutely impossible to find in Sweden. The 470 would come to use anyways as I would put it in my sisters computer that is currently running a GTX 770 EDIT: there is one place selling the 470 that ships to sweden, but I'd have to pay about 3000 SEK or $355 for it so I think the with the price considered the 1080 would be the more viable option
  12. So yeah, I'm definitely looking to upgrade my monitor when the time comes, but I've been putting it off because well, getting a more demanding monitor for the 470 is like tossing the money in the trash can. I would like something like 3440*1440 or regular 1440 or maybe a 2560*1080 UW but the prices for those panels rn are more or less a 1080 Ti so I might go for one if there's a good sale or the price drops somewhat, or I'll just have to save some more money
  13. Hello! This is my current build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XJ3YVY The GPU is getting kinda tiresome to use even though I only play 1080p 60 FPS. I mostly play league/csgo but then again I also enjoy my classic pick of AAA titles such as Witcher 3, AC, Ghost Recon etc. I found a used 1080 for sale for about 4300 SEK which is about $500. Before you say that it's expensive, bare in mind that the lowest price for a 1080 without reference cooler in Sweden is currently about 6000 SEK or $USD. The car itself is about 1 year old EVGA GTX 1080 FTW https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6286-KR Is it worth getting considering my current build and most importantly my current GPU. I was previously thinking about saving for a 1080 Ti and then getting something like a 3440*1440 high refresh rate curved panel but seeing this card for a cheaper price got me thinking. Any and all help is duly appreciated! Love, Ris
  14. My FPS is bound by the GPU not the CPU. I'm currently running a 470 which is trash but I can't decide which card to get and am therefore holding off for a bit. I can kick up the system tonight and give you some percentage numbers of load if that would help
  15. Mostly LoL and CS but occasionally also some Ghost Recon Wildlands, AC:O and similar titles
