Not once, heck no. But I'd pick a publisher or developer I really hate and reinstall it 10,000 times. I also recommend thousands of other people do the same. I'm sure something will happen lol

I don't regularly watch GN, because I can see the paint drying up while he talks, and I need more than that when I put a video on background.
But when I need to check a review on something, I will always check his channel to see if they have a video on that, as I will check LTT, Jay, Paul's Hardware, etc.

My problem right now is that he stirred all this drama, painted himself as a paragon of morality and ethics in journalism, and when called on it, his response is to deflect criticism, make up his own rules, and when called on it again, he makes the video private and makes an empty statement about "not reading the room".
Never did he own up to his mistakes, and that makes me sad, because I want them to have quality, as it is good for everyone.

He calls himself an expert in journalism (in his personal Linkedin page), but then proceeds to ignore one of the basic foundations of journalism to stir up drama and take a competitor down a notch.
If this was about the true story, he would've given us both sides.
And when he didn't, he should've apologized for that, instead of doubling down.

And hopefully, LMG can actually fulfil their promises to do better, it would be great for everyone if they can get the Labs running full steam ahead with great precision.

I'm hoping TechTechPotato/Ian or someone with a journalism background can do another deep dive comparing GNs 'Reaching out' policies to other organisations 'Right to Reply' or 'Fair opportunity to respond' editorial policies. I'm reading GN's against Ofcom/BBC and others and they prima facie do not seem to align very well. The opportunity for a subject to make a public statement before a story is published, or reducing the impact of a story is not a legitimate reason to not offer the subject an opportunity to respond or seek comment according to other journalistic organisations. The reasons other places mention are "possible interference with witnesses or those to whom we have a duty of care, or other legal reasons."

DLex reacted to LinusTech in LTT Video Error Handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Internally this is a living document, and may change as we move forward, but as part of our push for further transparency, we are publishing it in its current form to help our community better-understand how we classify errors and what action we will be taking to rectify them.

    Types of errors
    Flubs: the host simply misspoke
Incongruencies: information within the video is not in agreement (e.g. host says “$45” while the product page shows “$47”
Bad spec: a table or MOGRT contains incorrect information (e.g. “48MB” instead of “96MB”
Bad data: a graph or visualization contains data (generated by us) that is erroneous, misplaced, or spurious.
Bad info: a statement or representation in the video that is misleading or factually inaccurate
    Types of error correction
Proactive (before the video is posted)
Video pickup: the segment is re-shot with both audio and video
Human audio pickup: new audio is recorded for the segment (visuals have coverage)
AI audio pickup: new voiceover is generated. In the best case this uses a voice model that sounds like the host. However, using a robot voice  can still work.
Text on screen: the editor overlays clarifying or correcting text
This will not be received by viewers who are not (or cannot) watching the screen
Reactive (after the video is posted)
Video Replace: replacing the video with a new version without re-uploading
This relies on YouTube and takes some time. There are fairly strict guidelines around the use of this tool and strong justification must be provided for all changes. This is preferred to a re-upload, but there is likely a soft-limit on how often we can use this resource.
Re-upload the video: Set the original, erroneous video to Private and upload a new version. This will have algorithmic effects, but must be done if replacement is not an option
Pinned comment: add a comment describing the correction.
This will not be received by viewers who do not check the comments (common, especially for those watching on a Smart TV) and should only be used for low-severity errors.

    Assessing & Responding to Errors
If any of the following types of errors are discovered prior to filming (e.g. during script review) , fix them before the shoot.

    1. Very Low Severity
    - The statement could possibly be misunderstood, but it’s generally true and most people would be fine with how it’s currently presented.
    - eg. The host says, “One of DisplayPort’s main advantages over HDMI is its higher bandwidth,” but this is only true when comparing certain generations of the standards. HDMI 2.1, for example, has much higher bandwidth than DP 1.1.

    Action: no action

    2. Low Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and we should try to clarify it better in the future, but we can leave it for now because it doesn’t meaningfully impact a viewer’s purchase decision or general knowledge.
    - eg. The host says, “This monitor features moderate pixel response times and contrast because it uses an IPS panel”, but the panel manufacturer is actually AUO, rather than LG, so it’s not an IPS panel - a term which is trademarked by LG - but rather an IPS-type or IPS-like panel.

    Action: Pinned comment
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    3. Medium Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and a minority of the audience could be upset or misled, even if it doesn’t really affect the outcome of the product evaluation for the majority.
    - eg. The host says, “This GPU has AMD’s AMF video encoder, which is basically the same as NVIDIA’s NVENC,” but while the stated functionality is the same, NVENC offers better image quality, which could be important to a small minority of buyers.

Action: Video replaced if possible according to YouTube policy, otherwise pinned comment and above fold mention of the issue in the video description
If doing a video replace, a pinned comment should communicate this is coming and note the expected changes. This comment should be un-pinned when the video replace is complete.
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    4. High Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and a significant portion of the audience could be misled or make a poorly-informed purchase decision.
    - eg. The host says, “This is a great gaming monitor,” when in fact, the monitor is a 60Hz VA display that, while ‘fine’ for playing games, lacks important gaming-centric features that could be easily had for the same price, making it a poor choice.

Action: Video replaced if possible according to YouTube policy. Otherwise, set unlisted and disable monetization until corrective action can be taken.
If doing a video replace, a pinned comment should communicate this is coming and note the expected changes. This comment should be un-pinned when the video replace is complete.
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    5. Very High Severity
    - The statement is VERY incorrect—basically the opposite of correct. There is no charitable interpretation that could make this anything but completely irresponsible.
    - ex. The host says, “Most games require only one high-performance core to perform their best,” when that hasn’t been true for over a decade.

    Action: Video removed or remade

Linus statement to verge "I was in a state of shock reading through these allegations, plain and simple. They aren’t consistent with my recollections. They aren’t consistent with our internal processes. They aren’t consistent with our company values."   yeah maybe he should have said he didn't know the depth of it instead of "it's not consistent with my recollections"
clearly he tried to address it the day after madson left so he knew something.
Also the incels here are disgusting people saying "She was asking for it" because she was making shitposts/memes on her twitter and jokes when she appeared on LTT videos calling her a hysterical woman questioning the timing when she clearly stated why she didn't reveal it earlier due to the LTT incels backlash, which proved her right calling her mentally ill and unreliable witness calling her a lazy/sensitive zoomer people saying she's doing this for attention when clearly revealing this does not benefit her in any way, and in fact makes her a target formore online harassment
waiting for more evidence is fine sure, but some people here clearly have problems with women

So a rape victim that comes forward and didn't immediately go to the police is lying?
A sexual assault victim that comes out and says X did Y and didn't run to the police is lying?
Anyone who accuses someone without involving the police first above all else is lying?

You have no f-ing clue what it's like to be a survivor of that stuff, how quickly people turn on you, just look at people in this thread how fast they just accuse someone of lying because they chose to speak out.

I'm sorry but this is a pretty broke take. Not everyone who faces a hostile workplace or sexual harassment at work files a lawsuit, nor does not filing a lawsuit mean definitively that it didn't happen. Victims of workplace or sexual harassment often don't file lawsuits (sometimes, complaints internally - Madison said there was no process because upper management at LMG controlled HR and ignored her complaint taking no action on them) because they fear retaliation from the current or ex-employer, or others (which, given the content of this thread, was totally justified in Madison saying she feared the fanbase harassing her, sending her death threats, and attacking her character).

If these were easily dismissed matters, Terren Tong as LMG CEO would not be hiring a third party investigator to get to the bottom of things.

The investigation will get to the bottom of things, in the course of some time.

Beyond disappointing to see the contrast in community reaction between the GN/Billet thread and here.

    < needless flaming removed >

Young female LTT employee opens up about being bullied, harassed, and possibly assaulted during her time at the company? Community proceeds to debate the timing, stroke their chins over what "inappropriately grabbed" means, belittles the work the employee did, and attack her professionalism and mental health. And of course the mouth-breathers are in here too adding some unveiled misogyny to the mix.

I haven't been on these forums much or at all the past few months because I was growing disenchanted with LTT's content and I was focused on other hobbies besides PC stuff. This thread makes me not want to be a part of this community at all. Although I'm not sure I would want to have to acknowledge "Yes, I'm an active member of the LTT forums, yes that Linus" after this week anyway.

Honestly, GN's stuff... I didn't really care at first, and the way LMG addressed it in the video made me feel comfortably that it would be resolved.

This stuff though... This is different. If this turns out to be true, I don't think I'd be able to watch LMG anymore. It'd be a shame. Tons of incredible people work there, and all I could hope for is them finding another place.

My next Floatplane billing date is 21 September, so I'm giving LMG until then to address this stuff.
Dankpods FP sub is yearly and is billed in July next year. I'll probably just want nothing to do with LMG anymore if this is not handled properly, so then I'd probably cut Floatplane out as well.

Been watching LMG for a decade now. This shit sucks, especially for all the good people who work or used to work for LMG. I don't want it to be true, but for some reason I fear it is. That is mostly gut feeling though, but still.

Being brutally honest, given some of the responses posted in this thread, there are definitely people here who would be a good fit for LMG, it seems.

Calling someone’s testimony unreliable because of their poor mental health, when the literal cause of that is what they’re testifying about, is stupid beyond belief. As is the belief that someone can just hire tens of thousands of dollars worth of legal representation to get justice.

Frankly, LMG, and tech in general, still primarily attracts… let’s call it people with not much experience of the opposite sex. Get a whole workplace full of people like that, and add someone of the opposite sex, and yeah. This is frankly not surprising, unfortunately.

    What an absolutely tone-deaf response.

You ignore a number of factors, such as the power-dynamics that would be involved in a position like such. I am a bit perplexed how you don't understand what "inappropriately grabbed" means. As you are completely unaware of sexual harrassment that occur in the workplace (perhaps you are and that is actually the issue).
I don't believe that she was "offended" by the fact that senior management wasn't "fire(d)" because she was complaining. She was discussing how the inappropriate management of the facilities/programs was not being addressed.

I'm completely perplexed at how someone could be this level of complete inaccuracy in their reading.

I've been a lurker on this site for years and have thought about joining for a while but haven't till recently and if you are a representative of the community here, I don't really think almost anyone would want to come here.

Also, if you wish you can try that "Oh you just haven't been out in a real workplace" thing - that is fine. I worked for the railroad for several years and have had to deal with being told a bunch of things when the issues weren't my fault. So that won't really land with me, but you are welcome to still make them nonetheless.

This is the nail in the coffin for me.
Madison’s experience is deplorable and should never have allowed to happen in any company at any size.

Even if she exaggerated (and why would she? She has nothing to gain from this), even if only 10% of this is factual that is STILL not okay.

I simply cannot believe LMG was like this after all the parades and talks about being a fun company that does things right.

I feel heartbroken but I will probably unsubscribe from all LMG channels. I’m done. Hey, maybe it will even help me from my YouTube addiction.
