65W TDP power throttles after 80 seconds of any use? Huh. I better hold on to my unicorn 6700 for being able to hold 3.9GHz with MCE practically forever as long as I don't give it Prime95 (that's when it will throttle).

EDIT: Oh, and the cooler is rated for 95W TDP.

Maybe it's relevant from the context of the posts that are being shared, but I want to throw my two cents here.

I ran across an article on Kotaku about how one of the editors is building their first PC. In short, they ran into a lot of problems, but managed to get the PC to work and at the end, came up to this:

    Quote

I now feel familiar enough with a motherboard that I can tweak things without freaking out at how complex it all looks, and after going through this insane, convoluted diagnostic process, I feel like I’m prepared for whatever other problems might come up, because I’m sure more problems will come up. (Note: I am definitely not prepared for whatever problems come up.)

Granted the author sort of backpedaled on their statement about not really being prepared for whatever problems might come up, but what are the chances of other people going "yeah! I fixed a problem [that wasn't really that complicated to begin with]! I know everything about computers!"?

Dunning-Kruger coupled with backfire is not a pretty recipe, that's for sure.

That or trolling, in which case Poe's Law.

@CUDA_Cores the gameplay sucks, there are no cheats, no dev-console, there is no walkthrough and there are no savepoints.

For every one following here, that thread went down hill so much it hurts me,

I mean seriously we have that noob posting over and over a shitty video from AdoreTV which is all about fan boyish for AMD to begin with.

Even so he distorted the entire video, what was a complain about the bad toothpaste Intel uses what leads to the need of a delid to overclock become a ludicrous and completely wrong assumption about the i7 8700, I mean for crying out loud I have the CPU myself, I have seen it 4.3ghz all day long.

Then comes that Stefan Payne which is another AMD fan boy that can't lose the opportunity to annoy me as well, and keeps saying "It is all facts Intel uses bad thermal paste on the IHS why do you think people delid", AGAIN for an unlocked processor and overclocking sure but why the hell can't people stop being ignorant for a second and understand the locked one is the very opposite, the lower TDP means less heat, any good cooler tames it, Jesus.

Can't we seriously report people for being far too ignorant @Morgan MLGman? LTT is an amazing place, it's only issue is that we have far too many kids that knows nothing of what they are talking about and gosh they are insisting to the point who does know gives up on the thread and the OP is fed with bulls.

@Princess Cadenceyea the included cooler will be fine and will keep it at a reasonable temp even under full load

    i have a 6600 btw

@Princess Cadence Unfortunately you can't create a rule against stupid :\

On a random side stepping, does anyone feel my view on overclocking recent Intel K processors not even worth it anymore is crazy? Not because you have to delid them, but because they can't really be pushed that far anymore because they're already clocked so damn high that you have to push them even harder to even get an appreciable performance gain that's worth spending all (better cooler, good motherboard, etc) the extra money on

  12. Princess Luna

    Princess Luna

@M.Yurizaki You and I both have been addressing it a lot lately no? and some people really says we're crazy for sayin' it specially for gaming because their mentality is locked on 8 years old rule that frequency was all that matter for gaming.

Still on the note about the Coffee Lake i7, it has been the very first time we had the locked i7 performing identically to the stock unlocked i7, also I believe we never had a locked processor boosting all the way up to 4.3ghz on all cores, I mean I know we are on the 5ghz rush however 4.3ghz on the latest IPC already is so absurdly fast! and yet so many people treating it like not worth any one's time.

I make a well detailed reply with benchmark and videos and every thing aside my own personal experience on the matter showing how the i7 8700 is the best value against the i5 8600k and i7 8700k and usually what I get from it is what? being roasted by the "overclocking experts" saying I'm dumb.

    Quite frankly, it is disappointing...

I think the problem is twofold:

    • People are still stuck on the days of Sandy/Ivy Bridge where you could give the unlocked processors an appreciable boost in performance due to overclocking (the i7-2600K could go up to 4.8GHz easily I recall, from a stock 3.8GHz, which is ~25%). That pretty much ended with the Haswell refresh when it dropped to about 10% to go to the same speed and most people couldn't get any higher than that.
    • People think they can leave it stock and then overclock it later, giving it a boost. While that's fine and dandy, that'll only stave off one more generation. Even then, it's pretty telling Sandy Bridge held its own pretty well until Coffee Lake, when that finally offered something more that Sandy Bridge couldn't.

@Princess Cadence Sadly, we cannot intervene in case someone is wrong or spreading misinformation... It's too hard to determine whether it was intentional or not, and we can't go around warning/banning people for being wrong unless it's deliberate... If you recall a user zMeul, he posted a crapton of untrue shit during his time here, and while he eventually got banned, it was for other reasons than that :P You need to get used to this, it's the same on every other tech forum, maybe even worse than here...

P.S. I find it odd that we were both born 16 days apart lol, just noticed your birth date on your profile xD
