  1. Wow 10 years! I am extremely happy for this milestone... so much it literally resurrected me apparently xD While I cannot be as active as I once were around I've had a great experiences and this place has its little room in my heart so I can suffer of nostalgia time to time hehehe~ hope the celebrations are all in good cheer!
  2. Oh believe me I know how they look hehe I ran an i7 6700 on these too and it was loud then I imagine it only got worse with these latest chips x) I'd say get a great cooler, that will help your CPU a lot, the cooler it is the better clocks it can achieve and like right now you're likely bottlenecked by heat hehe, I'd say you can see performance gains from doing it to a degree plus the much quieter operation. Something high end that will be useful to any new platform you put together.
  3. Which one exactly? Imagine a locked CPU since you got the stock cooler... also damn mate, stock cooler is such a ear rape had my time with it too x) Would pick a cool cooler because those are like good forever, Intel at least keeps good air cooler compatibility so shouldn't go to waste. About lower scores, well you have a locked CPU on a shitty board, it's a bad place to be because expensive motherboard would help but doesn't feel all that worth the hassle for a locked cpu, y'know? It kinda sucks. That said, is the computer failing to meet your usage needs? What GPU do you have?
  4. I have played The Witcher 3 twice but never quited finished the game either times, took this opportunity to finally finish it properly including the extra content, so far it has been a very pleasant experience. I am currently playing it on a 2060Super which can play it at 1080p all maxed up (no RT) just fine so should the 5700XT I presume. Ray Tracing is w/e the game is already drop dead gorgeous and realistic at the same time, with excellent soundtrack you get sucked into immersion in a way I rarely see, no wonder Assassin's Creed sought out to copy the model so hard /s
  5. This has bothered me so many times, for crying out loud, that today while experiencing the frustrating of missclicking again I just couldn't not rant gaaaah~

  6. I hope you don't intent to run a RTX 3080 with this thing
  7. If MSRP existed, in my country you can still buy the RX6900XT for cheaper than a RTX 3080 goes for, given my need to use Linux which plays out much better with AMD drivers it is actually a better purchase all around.
  8. What could help is Intel GPUs being a good product though I'm not too hopeful with their continuous delays.
  9. A thread about brand loyalty in some form? Gosh it has been a decade and things are still much the same here /s It's totally pointless to ever consider brands over specific models, now you could just ask what's your favourite which becomes a personal matter, in which I'd say Corsair and BeQuiet has the products I'm most familiar with.

  11. The only reason I use Firefox is so we don't end up in a Chromium monopoly. Alas I know this is a losing battle where only the inevitable is being delayed.

  14. I'm yet to understand what's even the point of Win11 if they changed nothing of the core issues with Win10 and in fact made it even worse and more locked. For Windows I'll just stick to 10 until it goes EOL.
  15. I have prior experience with sway (i3 window manager ported to Wayland), and it was fairly straightforward to install it, and I've had packages like the app launcher, background, and everything installed in there. All the settings had to be edited via my text-only config files, though, no nice GUI menu to adjust the settings (as it was unimportant to me). You have to make sure all of the packages are installed and function properly before you actually switch to the new window manager / compositor. Although this probably wouldn't be helpful to you as I use quite an obscure Linux distro (NixOS), my config file may give you an overall idea of what packages you can expect to need to install to get a more or less workable installation (obviously you'd need to find equivalents for your specific tiling manager): here's my sway.nix config file I had to eventually switch back to gdm3 (GNOME) when I upgraded to 5.10 kernel series and open-source nvidia drivers (nouveau) just stopped recognizing my graphics card. I wish you the best of luck EDIT: Forgot to mention I also needed to bind a lot of the commands to some sort of keyboard shortcut, so when I press, for instance, Super+N, it opens the app launcher bar.
  16. If all you'll do is game with a 1070 Ti just get an i5 10400F for cheaper than all alternatives, it'll still max out your GPU any ways lol
  17. It certainly makes things easier to just have a second dedicated storage device for dual-booting purposes, and it also reduces the risk of you doing something wrong. I personally have Windows and Linux on two different devices exactly for the sake of this convenience, and not having to deal with any complicated partitioning.
  18. I personally dual boot. Wine/Proton are both still at a state of infancy, and a lot of games don't bother making dedicated Linux versions. A lot of games that happen to use weird dependencies, or anti-cheat would probably have issues and/or not run at all. Additionally you'll probably experience various bugs and issues which, if you're not very Linux-savvy, would be almost impossible to debug and fix. I also experienced quite a lot of lag and issues with VR when running under Linux. I simply use Windows for all my gaming needs. Simply waiting for a minute to reboot is so much easier than trying to get stuff to run via Wine/Proton when it doesn't "just work".
  19. Ever considered a RX 6800? Or even better a Radeon 7 second hand if those still exist. CAD likes OpenCL more than CUDA any ways so you'd be getting 16gb of fast VRAM and likely on pair rendering performance as the 3090 thanks to this GPU architecture/drivers peculiarities.
  20. ...which means it must never ever be connected to the internet. Or you could just use Linux and get up-to-date browser and networking stack.
  21. I am fairly sure you can configure Windows 10 to look and feel just the way you want it, disliking the looks of the OS should not be your main reasoning for a choice. You can also reduce its graphical fidelity if your PC struggles to run it. However, you should be fine if your PC runs Windows 7 well enough already. It is highly recommended to run the latest version of Windows 10 in 2021, as older OSes lose support for newer drivers, as well as programs. You may not notice it at this time, however fairly soon things like your browser will start losing support and you'll be stuck using insecure, outdated versions. Why are you discarding Linux as an option? Linux in general is quite lightweight and is perfect for older machines that struggle to run anything else. Though it has its own quirks.
  22. Apple's decision to stop including chargers on their mobile products has raised lots of eyebrows among Brazilian consumers leading to the Bureau of Consumer Protection taking measures after Apple's inability to satisfy the entity's concerns. Samsung was also affected however it worked out an arrangement with the entity. The Bureau of Consumer Protection [Procon-SP] announced on Friday that it applied a fine in the amount of R$ 10,546,442.48 (Roughly 2 Million USD) to Apple for selling iPhones without a charger. In addition, Procon-SP accuses the company of misleading advertising, of selling devices with factory defects, of maintaining unfair terms in the contract with consumers and of not having repaired a product that was still under warranty. Apple said the iPhones warranty will not be affected by chargers approved by Anatel [National Telecommunications Agency] however National Consumer Secretariat pointed out a Conduct Adjustment Term (TAC), which obliges manufacturers to sell their cell phones with the plug charger. Procon-SP told Apple about the alleged violation in December. Apple responded by reiterating its environmental angle, arguing that it would reduce CO2 emissions and rare earth mining. It noted that many customers already had spare chargers. The agency clearly wasn't satisfied with that answer, however. In issuing the fine, Procon-SP executive director Fernando Capez told Apple it needed to respect Brazilian law. Bureau's executive director Fernando Capez reportedly stated that Apple "needs to understand that in Brazil there are solid consumer protection laws and institutions. It needs to respect these laws and these institutions." Samsung had also announced it's new Galaxy S21 wouldn't have an included charger however was more willing to work out with the Brazilian agency and made a deal to offer a free charger as part of the pre-order bundle. Brazil is one of the world's larger phone markets, and defying the country's law can represent greater cost. - While there might be some weight on the argument to reduce needless tech waste it still comes to me as awkward the most expensive phones available won't even give you a charger in the package any more, even if you argue that those who can afford it won't care have in mind all of this originated from lots of actual consumers complains to begin with. 23. This is the general consensus, it makes no sense release an i9 that's identical to the i7 and even worse gets nowhere near competing with AMD's Ryzen 9. But Intel does not care about reason they care about profits and people have proven them since the i7 8086K that their fans will buy literally anything for premium $, just say it's "binned" and voilá. The truth is the entire 11th gen is pointless, you can can get the i9 10850K which with an OC is identical to the i9 10900K and it's 10c/20t goodness for cheaper than the 11700K and motherboards are equally cheaper, only 10th gen is competitive against AMD at all.
  24. Value wise the 10700K is actually a compelling purchase right now, you do get enough for any gaming and general pc usage you could want for a relatively good price. That said so should the i5 10600K... my i7 8700 system which is basically the same CPU horsepower does well on this sort of thing and wouldn't hold back a 3060 Ti

So it looks like the 6GB 3050Ti is a lie. It lo…

RTX 3050 Ti will have 24GB of VRAM, marketing go brrrrrr
