SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case
Cody_53027 replied to ZombiPL's topic in Cases and Mods
Has anyone got a successfully configured Sentry 1.1 OR 2.0 running a Ryzen 7 3000 series CPU, specifically a 3700x, 3800X OR 3900X? I recently swapped my 2400g with a 3700x and I'm running a Cryorig C7 and it hovers in the 90s and has to pull back clocks and sometimes hard crashes too. I'm certain the Cooler has sufficient CPU T.I.M. and is mounted well because if I remove a synthetic load the temps quickly fall. I'm running an Asrock AB350 board. It's "technically" a 65w TDP chip as was the 2400g but only now am experiencing thermal issues after more than a year with prior config w/o issues. I should add I even have the fanspeed on "full-speed" in the bios. I am running a blower style Vega 64 so that kind of helps with exhausting in-case air too. Any feedback is appreciated. -

So I have a DS216+ and it randomly goes offline occasionally and cannot be summoned on the LAN via any software means. Even the router does not see it on the network. If I hard reboot it, it wakes up and acts totally normal. It's offline state (see video). Anyone have any ideas? video-1527963444.mp4

I haven't tried a clean install of Windows but I've done everything else. I'm really leaning towards Radeon driver optimization

Fortunately I've built this as an HTPC and is not my primary PC in any shape/way/form. In fact this is built in a Dr. Zaber Sentry. 1 of only about 1000 in existence. No. 358 to be precise. So I'm willing to wait for some amount of driver optimization. But I want to make sure I'm doing everything in my power. My specific Ram Kit is not explicitly listed on QVL for Ram but other G.Skil kits of same 2x8GB lower clock speeds are listed. So if I down-clock the ram I feel like I eliminate this possibility.

Ever since I built my AM4-Raven Ridge system I haven't been able to do any sustained compute tasks without experiencing BSOD always with the Erron "DPC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" I am running stock-clocks on an AB350 MITX board with all the latest BIOS and Drivers. I even tried adding a 100-150mv offset to see if that helped stability, also added some to the SOC/GFX. I even down-clocked and loosened timings on Ram. That didn't seem to help stability either. It is 100% stable just sitting on the desktop. Here is my PCPARTPICKER link to my build. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cody_53027/saved/xB8BmG Any and all advice is appreciated. Should I try changing multiplier to less than as-shipped? I've had crashes in-game, I've had crashes during video playback. In both cases I've had it happen within a few minutes of use but I've had it be fine for over an hour. The random nature of my BSODs are proving challenging to troubleshoot. Also, peak thermals are showing highs in the 50-60s via Ryzen master under synthetic load so I don't believe heat on CPU to be an issue. I can't prove it, but my thought is that the Radeon Driver needs improvement.

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

Just waiting on my R5 2400G at the moment. I am still going to order stuff from cablemod too but I think stock cables will work just fine for interim. Gskill 2x8GB @ 3000mhz, Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 (bootdrive), 2x 2TB Seagate 2.5" HDD in Raid 0. Cryorig C7 w/ Thermo Grizzly Kryonaut TIM, Corsair SF600. Oh, and I might wedge an RGB strip in there too. I will likely put in a GPU in the future but Raven Ridge is looking pretty awesome for an HTPC and Plex Server for the near term. I've waited over a year to do this build. Super looking forward to it finally coming together. -

Amazingly, I have had my case since August and I still have built in it. I'm thinking it is going to be an HTPC. Like R5 1600 w/ 1050 TI. At this point I will wait for Zen+ in Q1 -

EVGA's SC2 actually fits, according to specification and isn't a "Tiny" cooler -

Has anyone built one with a 1080ti open-cooler? I'm concerned it might be a little thermal limited in the sentry even though there there are a few that will fit. I.E. EVGA 1080ti SC2 -

@ZombiPL I have to admire your packaging. The thought and care that went into just that, WOW!. The craftsmanship is beautiful. I am waiting for Intel Coffee Lake to be released this fall so I can put a 6core Intel CPU in my sentry. My feedback would be that (1) 92mm or (1) 120mm option could be made in the far end of the GPU chamber when shorter PCBs are used. A 14/15mm thick fan would work perfect in this case. I might take to modding my case to allow for that and adding a piece of mesh for intake filter. For some purists this might ruin the clean aesthetic but this would make 95watt+ CPUs a little more plausible in this case. I know it would be a headache but offering custom or at least less-common case colors even if it comes at a premium cost. Would be an awesome differentiation in the crowded PC case market. I might take to spraying a metallic blue over the powdercoat. I know others have done vinyl wrap though, haven't made my decision yet. Keep up the good work! -Cody Case v1.1 serial #0358 -
Should i get an i7-3820 or i5-2500k
Cody_53027 replied to eggbox1's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I would get the i3-8100, but that's just me -

According to Indiegogo there were only 1100 case in the first round of Funding. We'll see, I waited a long time. I travel a lot but I like to take my gaming rig with me, so this is a perfect fit for me. -

I FINALLY received my Sentry. Yayyy!!! Thanks @ZombiPL -
Anyone seen NCase M1 Hardline?
Cody_53027 replied to TheSlicingEdge's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
The NCase has mounts for 2 120mm Fans right below the GPU so an good air cooled GPU will do just fine. I run a 240mm Rad on my 6700k W/O issue. If you can fit a 120mm GPU AIO and a 120mm CPU AIO in there, that would be ideal. There are some 92mm CPU Air coolers that fit well and still allow for some OCing
