  1. Ok, possible hot take. As someone who ran a medium sized organization for 20 years (I sold, took the $ and retired one year ago) there comes a point where the little biz that you started as a dream becomes something greater than what you might have expected or even have been properly prepared for. I sympathize strongly with Linus as I too was driven to constantly push to the next step, even if procedures weren’t yet in place to deal with the complexity and size that I had created. Net result was a sh*tload of running about putting out fires for a while. I also didn’t have the luxury of an Yvonne or Luke to keep me from going off a cliff. BUT, I learned my lesson and made the necessary adjustments and investments into staffing to rein things in. Procedures were created (not by me) that everyone had to follow - starting with standardized training. Now, did I stand up and tell the world “F*ck, I’ve been doing it wrong all these years”.? Absolutely not. The company’s image and mine were so intertwined that would have been counterproductive to the earned respect and goodwill that we had amassed over the years. I also spoke a lot with my peers, many of whom had much larger SMEs than mine. They all confirmed that this was an inflection point that they had experienced, and once successfully overcome their businesses grew at even quicker rates. Granted, it could be a poor sample as those who didn’t adapt probably didn’t fare as well. Linus is proud of what he built and I can confirm that it’s a bitch to stand up and say “I’m wrong” publicly. I fortunately never had to and I doubt that I would even have been as contrite as he was. It’s very much a personality type thing. I suspect that’s why there’s a different tone in his part than the others. But, from experience, I can tell you that it’s the “others” that will implement the changes. Linus is the guy, yes, and the major shareholder. But he’s clearly reassigned himself to a figurehead position and the reserve of LMG’s goodwill. I know that from and outsider’s view this all seems weird and even sketchy. It’s greatly magnified by LMG being a social media enterprise and everything happening in the public eye. I couldn’t have imagined been subjected to that stress as well. In summary, what you are witnessing amounts to normal growing pains of a medium sized business as it transitions to the next stage. It’s really perfectly normal and to be expected at some point. I suspect that L & Y saw this coming and that could be why a professional CEO was brought on board. Really, the drama that you all are witnessing is pretty run of the mill stuff and is only topical and controversial because of the public nature of their business. BTW, Steve wasn’t wrong either to call them out. I find his criticism very on point and he’s extremely faithful to the processes. Frankly, if I were LMG I would do everything in my power to bring him on board. He would be a clear asset.
  2. I’m going to agree with the general theme of this topic. Anthony is a surprisingly great host. Granted, at first blush, I didn’t think he was YouTube material - he has that ‘nerd computer dude’ air, but his presence and obviously deep knowledge of the subject quickly overcomes that. He’s entertaining and engaging and a great foil for Linus’ antics. moar anthony pleez
  3. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/pc-case-maker-caselabs-latest-news-bankrupt-liquidated-us-tariffs-a8487416.html « Trump tariffs have forced us into bankruptcy and liquidation, says PC case maker CaseLabs » i don’t want to be political, but these kinds of results are predictable to anyone who has taken Economics 101.
  4. I’ve never seen this before. A stand-alone VRM board? What does one use this for?
  5. Hmmm. I installed the update and restarted Windows, but I am still getting the error message “ASUSGPUFanServiceEx.exe has stopped working” .
  6. I said passive in the title. Those who suggested and showed heatsinks answered the question.
  7. Not really a problem per se, but I was wondering if anyone has seen any aftermarket cooling solutions for these SSDs. They do run hot and the way they are positioned they don’t always get great air cooling. I am guessing someone makes one, but I haven’t found it yet...
  8. No. Nail polish to insulate the copper(gold) contacts near the die. But it’s a moot point now. FOLLOW UP: I had that G4560 on hand as well as an Asrock B250 motherboard for a build I was going to do one of these days for a basic browser/ MS office box for the wife. So I set up the mobo open bench with TH Pentium just to make sure all was good. Posted ok. I the removed the Pentium and dropped in my delidded i7. It posted 1st shot.... So i grabbed a loupe(crappy old eyes) and took a good look at my Z270 socket on the other board. Yup...bent pins. In about 3-4 different places. I have absolutely no ideas WTF i did. The socket was open for a while when i was delidding. Also has a few distractions and came and went a few times over the course of a couple of hours. So at some point the socket experienced an insult. ill try to see if I can straighten the pins, but I will likely be buying a new mobo...
  9. I was suggested nail polish on another forum. I might try that
  10. Yes. I remember seeing 4 small dots of gold on the die side a few mm from the die. That's what I'm going to check today.
  11. I used the liquid metal included in the kit. That stuff scares me. I might open the lid again just to be sure I didn’t overrun the die and short something. Yikes.
  12. I doubt it. I sincerely hope not, anyways. I’m going to pull the chip again tomorrow and take a look. I’ll find that G4560 and give it a go too. I fear the worst.
  13. Ok. Removed GPU, reset CMOS via jumper pins and even reseated the memory. Plugged into intel graphics HDMI on the mobo and ...nothing. I'm not getting this. If I had forked the CPU completely, I don't think that it would be behaving so 'normally ' otherwise. Here's a video of the boot and what I see...(it ends abruptly cause I had to edit and compress to fit the 20mb max upload) IMG_0328.MOV
  14. Thanks. I’m good. I have the users manual on hand. Just have to jump the jumpers
  15. If that’s English, then I’ve had a stroke too.
