Here's to hoping governments start regulating this crap.  India is at least attempting to put pressure on it.

Crypto currency is the biggest waste of resources, just think how much scientific computing could have been accomplished with all that hardware churning.

WikiForce reacted to ooferr in Would it makes sense for LMG to buy/ hire Bitwit, etc
I was wondering would it make sense for Linus to but bitwit’s channel or employ bitwit under LMG? I feel like it could be a smart investment considering that just the news of Linus buying him would boost his channel and also that Bitwit doesn’t have such a well monetised channel as Linus. If Linus were to employ Bitwit under LMG, he could make him atleast 50% more profitable. Idk maybe this is stupid after all that would be like LTT monopolising the tech space but i still think it’s an interesting topic.

    Hey Everyone!
I acquired a Dell Precision T5810 off of Dell's refurb site for $250. The specs are as follows:
Intel Xeon E5-1650 V3 @ 3.5GHz, 6-Core 64 GB 2133MHz Memory Samsung SATA SSD NVIDIA Quadro K2200 (But it was broken so I put in a GTX 1660 Ti) I would like to upgrade my CPU to whatever the fastest one that would work in my system. Is there a straightforward answer to that question? The E5-1650 V3 uses the FCLGA2011-3 socket.
    Thanks!

Minecraft servers are basically single threaded, so it won't matter. Id probalby get something like a 10100 here, a bit faster single threaded, cheaper, and has a igpu.

Case he orignally planned to buy was around 60. and the PSU he chose was a lot more expensive (like 90)
with that im assuming op is planning to do upgrades. If not OP should go with a CXM or CX

WikiForce reacted to jaslion in What is the cheapest SATA3 SSD with DRAM?
Wd blue or mx500 would be good. Dram is important especially on lower end laptops as it does lower the performance impact on the laptop for having to handle the caching itself.

WikiForce reacted to Digideath in Does anyone know a good airflow red and black atx case for a basic pc build?
I have a black and red build. I didn't use a black and red case. Just a black case with tempered glass all round. The airflow is fantastic. Plenty of room for the fans to breath. It's pimped out with a black and red cooler to boot and red rgb all around. This case can be any colour but i choose red and black. My whole rig is. Even my computer seat.

Btw the case im using is a raijintek silanos pro

I'm honestly not really sure if it will succeed, let alone happen on a large scale.

But if it does indeed gain even a little bit of traction, given that Ampere cards and Zen 3 are already on tight supply, they'll be even tighter, especially for those machines powered by a Ryzen 5000 APU paired with a GeForce RTX 30 GPU.

    WikiForce reacted to warhammer23 in 32GB Team Group T-Create 10L Classic DDR4 3200 MHz
I found this kit to be very interesting just because on paper it looks slow but that's because it's geared towards extra stability. To further emphasis this, it does not use the popular X.M.P/D.O.C.P profiles for frequency and timings. Instead, it implements the full JEDEC memory standard, which the motherboard automatically detects and applies. Thus there is no need to activate anything in the bios, just simply install the memory and enjoy.

To further explain the goal here, unlike regular computer tasks, content creators can actually utilize sizable system memory. Editing raw 4K or even 8K video, can easily require 64 GB of memory. What separates gaming focused memory from productivity memory, are the timings and rated speed. Games don’t utilize all of the system memory for extended periods of time, but that’s exactly what professionals do with workstations. Because of the critical endurance required, workstation memory have to be focused on reliability and not pure speed.

There are 3 capacity options, 2 main frequency categories and 2 latency sets which gives you 6 kits to choose from. You can have 16, 32 or even 64 GB in either 2666 or 3200 MHz @ CL19/22. Prices start from $60 all the way to $229 which is quite good considering you get 64GB.

At just 32 mm tall they are perfect for any type of build, since they reduce the risk of any height interferences, like the CPU heatsink. The T-Create 10L DDR4 kit uses stamped aluminum for the heatsink which has a modest fin yet angular design that gives the heatsink more surface area for cooling and why not a unique style.

No further need to emphasise that this memory is not intended for overclocking nor to be a speedy gamer kit. That said, we were able to squeeze out a respectable low-voltage overclocked profile, which produced an excellent performance boost over the rated JEDEC profile for 3600 MHz CL18-22-22-42 @ 1.35v.

This is a great memory kit but it all depends on how you look at it. If you are a beginner in building your computer for the first time, this is the perfect solution, because of its plug and play nature. Team Group specifically made it like this to ensure bulletproof stability over raw speed. The fact that you can still overclock it to a similar kit that comes from factory with the XMP/DOCP profiles, is a great bonus because that’s the appeal of OC’ing – free performance. Its main purpose however, as they market it, is for content creators that require a a lot of capacity headroom and for its current price, it does just that. This 32 GB kit will be enough for 4K editing and if by any chance your workflow revolves around 8K, they have the 64GB variant as well. Combined with a low profile neutral colour heatsink, this can tick a lot of boxes even for small form factor builds. All in all, I don’t see why you can’t have this kit for all computer users, not just content creators and workstation professionals.

it's funny 1909 or 20H, it makes no difference to me... sluggish, buggy, unreliable...

1809 is where it's at, runs very smooth, very silent, very responsive...

Thankfully I do have backups, with a dead (I killed him sue me) update orchestrator so it can't "update" to sluggish version at all, even if it wanted. 🙂

On the Vsync side of things.... without using manual framecaps, just Vsync.. keyboard/mouse suffers,.. input latency to 16.6ms (60Hz)

With Disabling Vsync, Input Lag goes down even if your eyes only get 60Hz,.... your mouse/keyboard inputs without Vsync are much lower input latency at higher framerates. (8-12ms for example)

It's not as cut-and-dry as that, frankly. What you'll get is screen tearing as the GPU is pushing out new frames as soon as possible and as fast as the monitor can display them, but you'll also be able to reap the benefits of lower frame times, namely in terms of latency in controls being lowered.
