WikiForce reacted to Krypt0s in What graphics card should I upgrade to?
Yeah, I am upgrading the whole setup. I recently got new RAM(I used to have 8gb) and now I am preparing to get new PSU, because the current one is not working well. And the CPU... As I mentioned, I sit at home most of time, studying, not earning money, so it gotta be step by step and I thought that CPU still does the work, so it can wait. btw. Thanks for your response. 😉

WikiForce reacted to Skiiwee29 in Tempered glass sidepanel, are they OK? Ive heard some horror stories online of them sporadically shattering :(
I have 3 machines with tempered side panels with zero issues. Never had one breaking on me. If it breaks, its usually from mishandling. Just treat them with care, and they will respond.

WikiForce reacted to Stahlmann in why do some dual channel motherboards have 4 slots
You can use either 2 or 4 sticks and both will run in dual channel. But of course you can achieve much higher capacity with 4 DIMMs. And then there's also the conversation of dual and single rank, but that's another story worth a 2 hour rambling video.

Most people are fine with 2x 8GB DIMMs for a total of 16GB.

WikiForce reacted to Oshino Shinobu in why do some dual channel motherboards have 4 slots
Channels and DIMM slots are different.

On a dual channel board with 4 slots, there are two slots per channel.

WikiForce reacted to hihihi8 in Primochill Coolant is NASTY! 15-day review
My recent upgrade also involved a loop rebuild, during which pretty much overhauled the entire loop. My old loop used deionized with a silver kill coil, and I never had any real issues with it worth mentioning - coolant stayed clean and temps were good.

    - EK ROG CH8 Dark Hero Monoblock (new)
    - EK Monarch X4 RAM blocks (reused but with full disassembly cleaning)
    - EK 6900XT full-cover block (new)
    - Alphacool NexXxos UT60 480 RAD (reused, thorough flushed, left to dry fully before being refilled)
    - Primochill RSX Fittings
    - Primochill Res (new 360mm, forgot exact model)
    - D5 pump

With the rebuild, I moved from colored tubing and water to clear tubing and colored water. I'm definitely one of the "water is best" people, but I thought "hey, how bad can it be? plenty of youtubers use coolant," and went with a gallon of Primochill True Opaque in pink. Man was I wrong. Within 15 days I've been getting this white frost-like sediment that clings to the tubes and the "opaque" coolant is becoming visibly less opaque by the day.

And before anyone asks, no I am not mixing metals, at least nothing really bad. Nickel and copper in this loop, no aluminum. Primochill also advertises this coolant as corrosion and sludge inhibiting. The kill coil was also removed.

WikiForce reacted to mariushm in Is pcie 1x a bottleneck to a gigabit Ethernet port
    No.

    Gigabit ethernet is 1gbps or 125 MB/s

    1 pci-e lane is :
    pci-e 1.0 is 250 MB/s
    pci-e 2.0 is 500 MB/s
    pci-e 3.0 is 985 MB/s
    pci-e 4.0 is 2 x 985 MB/s

So even the most ancient, slowest pci-e x1 slot would have twice as much bandwidth as a gigabit network card would need.

Even on old PCI, it wasn't really a big deal.  Standard PCI 32 bit 33 Mhz had a maximum of 133 MB/s shared between all PCI devices. You could still get 110-120 MB/s just fine.

🤪 This is weird to me.
Why would I come to this forum if I wanted to be seen?
I got a face and look that will make you throw your camera away. 😄
If I was photogenic I'd be on facebook with everyone else and the pretty people.
If I was pretty, heck I might even have a struggling poser video channel. 🤩

I'd rather hang out here with the Linus crowd and just talk with people. 🙂

Took a trip to Micro Center today. Needed to get some thumb drives for when I move files around or make a Windows installation media drive; time to move away from the Windows install discs as they take too long to install and then update Windows.

    2x 32GB thumb drives ~$10 dollars.
