@LukeSavenije I mostly just lurk so I can tell people not to buy the WD black HDD

@Spotty Ended up getting the Ironwolf since it went on sale and, I love it so far. This thing is sooo quiet compared to my old 1TB wd10ezex drives.

Oh? That's good to know. I've only used the 7200rpm versions of the ironwolf drives (higher capacity) which can be a bit noisy for my likes, at idle the whirr of them spinning is the loudest/most annoying thing in my system, but then again it is full of be quiet fans so pretty low noise.

The spin isn't the problem, it's the vibration. I have two wd10ezex drives and, the quieter one is still super loud compared to this one.

Maybe it's just because those are 7200rpm so they cause that much more vibration. I'm not sure, to be honest.

In case you are wondering, you can consult the acoustics here in this link, which is on page 19: https://www.seagate.com/www-content/product-content/ironwolf/en-us/docs/100807039j.pdf

And I'm glad you found it for sale, it's hard not to buy it when the price becomes more accessible and, at a point where, for that money, you get a device of lower quality...
