  1. The laptop that you're mentioning. Does it happen to be an ideapad laptop by any chance, 'cause I'm getting a 710S which is a 13" model, which happens to be the perfect form factor I'm looking for. And there was a 700-series with the specs that you mentioned. It had a 15.6" display. I'm looking for a 14" screen or less
  2. What are your thoughts about these laptops? Lenovo U41 Lenovo Ideapad 510S Lenovo Ideapad 500 (14) Lenovo Ideapad 500S All are 14-inch models. Their highest variants have the i7 (with generation differences) Up to 8-16GB RAM (I require 8GB) And I need a 1TB storage option with a discreet GPU for modest gaming performance to run games before 2015-16 All on a budget. Your thoughts?
  3. Wow. You two teach a lot of stuff when you argue... Thanks!
  4. Mr Freeman, you're saying "Go for the i7?"
  5. haha, good question. I also need portability. I've been running fine for 2 years with an i7-3610QM on an ASUS KV55M. And I really need my machine on-the-go, so I can't give up portability...
  6. In that case, an i7 would be better (for its resale value), would it not? I mainly need it for: heavy multitasking, all-day general computer'ing, modest gaming, photoshop
  7. Okay, I know this is a super vague kind of question, but my question is particularly related to the new Intel Core i5-7200U for laptops, released only recently. Should I go for a laptop based on that "Latest 7th Gen i5 based laptop buying advice", or am I better off looking for a previous gen i7 in that segment?
  8. I guess I'll have to manage anyhow. From what I researched, I could narrow it down to these three. (If you could suggest me something even better at this price or less) My use is moderate gaming (but important), and heavy general use. On a portable 14-inch machine...
  9. Meh. My aim is to run games that I missed. For example, I played the best titles from before 2012, on my current laptop which I bought in 2013. (i7 3rd Gen, 8GB, 1TB, 630M 2GB) So, in this case, games from 2015 and before. Oh, and including GTA V at least.
  10. I hope most games would be satisfied with 2 gigs... Otherwise, only heavy multitasking, photoshop, and reliability is what I want
  11. Agreed. That's why I'm trying to get my hands on one before I buy. But what about the GPU's? Is there any considerable difference?
  12. Thanks for the input. Reliability is a big factor here as I'm a heavy user (sitting almost te entire day on my machine). So yeah, I definitely will consider that. However I am thinking of waiting for Lenovo to release another variant with more respectable specs, to say the least. Anything less that 6GB is a dealbreaker.
  13. Which one is the best? New Dell Inspiron 14 7000 HP Pavillion 14-al111tx Lenovo Yoga 510 80VB000DIH All have 7th gen Intel i5-7200U CPU’s, 8GB RAM except Yoga (with a 4GB model only), 1TB HDD HP: NVIDIA GeForce® 940MX (4 GB DDR3 dedicated) Dell: NVIDIA GeForce® 940MX (2GB GDDR5)Lenovo: AMD R16M-M1-30 DDR3 2G In addition, prices and specs may also vary across retailers and regions with extras.
