    My HTPC Build

Quick questions regarding this: - What home theater software would you be installing for your build? - Also, what peripherals apart from a keyboard and mouse?

    My HTPC Build

Nah, don't see myself OC-ing this.

    My HTPC Build

Hmmm, interesting. AMD X370 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update. Also, I went with the WD SN750 because it's an NVMe SSD. Not sure if there's observable differences between NVMe and M2.

    My HTPC Build

Buid -- https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PdcWWD CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($79.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI - B450I GAMING PLUS AC Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ($129.97 @ Amazon) Memory: Kingston - FURY 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($69.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital - SN750 250 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($69.89 @ OutletPC) Case: Fractal Design - Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 @ Newegg Business) Power Supply: Thermaltake - SMART 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($53.98 @ SuperBiiz) Case Fan: Noctua - NF-S12A PWM 120 mm Fan ($19.79 @ OutletPC) Total: $533.50 Location: USA Budget: ~$530 or less Primary use: HTPC (Home Theater PC) for streaming 1080p / 1440p movies. Plan to add a graphics card in the future to support 4K movies. The HTPC will be connected to a 1080p Projector (and in the future to a 4K TV). Why are you upgrading? On my previous home-theater setup, I was running Kodi on a Raspberry Pi and it was woefully inadequate. Couple things apart from the build itself: I would like some recommendations on media center software to install on an HTPC. Currently, I am planning to use Kodi for streaming content from my NAS, but I'd be open to considering other alternatives. I will also be streaming live sporting events, Netflix etc. I'd appreciate recommendations on peripherals for an HTPC in the living room such as controllers, remotes etc. Thanks!

    Please review my build

Great thanks.. Think I'll stick with the cry h7 at the moment.

    Please review my build

What's a better CPU cooler for overclocking? I got the Z-series motherboard 'cause it supports overclocking (something I may not do right away, but in the near future).

    Please review my build

Thanks a lot everyone! Mixed and matched some configurations as suggested by @TheRandomness and @stconquest and created a new build. I wanted to stick with a non-hyperthreaded CPU so going with an i5. The latest build is here: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mxv2bj Cheers! Dev.
  9. Hello All, This is my first post on this forum. I would like your opinions on my (slightly modest) gaming rig. The location is: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/9CtWBP Here are my answers to the standard questions: 1. Budget & Location My budget is in the range of ~1200-1300 USD (US Dollars). 2. Aim 1. Gaming (FPS games like Doom, BioShock, Crysis etc) 2. Software development (coding, running Android simulators etc) 3. Movie watching in BluRay & DVD formats 4. Web browsing ( fast network card preferable ) Will be dual booting (Linux & Windows). 3. Monitors Currently have a 1080p monitor. Planning to upgrade to 1440 or 4K in the future. I will be using a single monitor. 4. Peripherals I will need an OS. Windows 10 Home 64-bit. I will be installing the latest version of Linux Mint as well. I will need to buy a good mechanical keyboard and suggestions on a good 1440 monitor / 4K monitor (with Gsync) will be helpful. 5. Why are you upgrading? This will be my first build. I am upgrading from my laptop which crashed recently. I would like to buy the parts this Thanksgiving (4 days time). I would appreciate if someone could let me know if Fry's / Amazon / NewEgg has discounts on Thanksgiving. I would also like to keep the DVD RW and Blu-Ray players separate on the system though I don't have it configured that way at the moment. Would appreciate suggestions on the best Blu Ray player and DVD RW player. Thanks a ton in advance!! - Dev.
