  1. That very well could be the case. It might have gone bad, or it might need a day to set in.
  2. Use a paper towel to wipe the paste off, then polish the CPU off with a micro-fiber cloth making sure there is no residue left at all. The pump seems like its running fine, It's running at the same RPM mine is (idk why its at RPM because pumps don't revolve). Try an AIDA64 stress test as well, and see what temps those are peaking at
  3. curious on how the CPU can be 6c idle since you cant go lower than ambient temp. Buttt im no expert in cooling. Did you already try remounting the CPU cooler? If not, try that, also, open up corsair link and see what kind of RPM the fan is running at and check the pump. alternatively, set it to performance mode Edit: Theres also a very good chance you could have screwed up while applying the thermal compound. I did it a couple of times, clean it off, retry, and make sure that you don't spread the compound out just set the CPU cooler down.

    ups

Plug your PC into a regular outlet and see if its the PC or the UPS. Make sure that all cables are securely plugged in, on the PC and outside of the PC/UPS as well.
  5. Pro tip, set it to heat, rather than power target for better results, the GPU won't worry as much about power
  6. He probably plans to do SLI, in which blowers would be better, either that or he just likes the looks of it. I personally would go with whatever is cheaper, and if there is a overclocked variant of the blower style card, be careful of that because you could hit the heat limit very easily. Don't hesitate to turn up the fan speed if necessary.
  7. Since money isn't an issue Assuming the IT Course he's taking is being ran by Cisco, you'll want enough RAM to run a virtual machine (+16GB) At least a quad core CPU that supports virtualization, a couple TB of storage So heres my recommendations 120/240/256GB SSD (whatever capacity you like for host os) 2TB WD Blue or Black (your choice, Black costs more because its faster) If you want that kind of room, a i7-6700/7700(k is optional, your choice) Z170/H170 based motherboard, You cant go wrong with Asus (if non k go for a H170, if k go for a Z170) 16GB of whatever RAM you like (you can't go wrong with HyperX(higher speed is typically better) GPU is really whatever suits whatever kind of games you want to play, if you want to max 1080p and high 1440p go for a 1070, I have the FTW and I love it. If you're a casual gamer go for the 1060 from a nice brand like Evga or Asus for Power supply 750w~ is a bit overkill but, eh https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vHBtr7 This is what I would do. Make sure you get a copy of windows if your curriculum is taught by cisco, they have a chapter on Windows I'd do it now so you get the experience.
  8. Titan XP is gonna be the kingpin for a while, well until the 1080Ti gets released (its rumored at Pax East). We don't really have any information on the next Titan card so, Just wait for the 1080Ti since the 1080Ti will have a nice aftermarket cooler, and if you absolutely cannot wait, go for dual 1080's, you'll get more p:p
  9. No luck there, I disabled it and enabled it again. Still stuck :c
  10. Alright will check it out Just restored it from two days ago, still no luck. D: thanks for your suggestion
  11. Yeah, I really don't want to do that I might as well try it and see if it works, Ill reply back with results.
  12. They hold across everything. Including CPU-Z and UEFI
  13. So I'm having a bit of a problem with my PC at the moment, My CPU won't go past .76GHz for whatever reason or 20% usage, It is not a temperature issue, as seen below. It occured after I installed Formula Overdrive (it did nothing so I uninstalled it) then saw that my CPU would no longer go past 20% usage or .76GHz A few things ive tried, Resetting bios, stressing the CPU. Specs 6700k, Z170 OC Formula, 750w G2, 16GB of TridentZ, GTX 1070 FTW, and h100i v2 Nor is it a power plan issue as seen here
