  1. I'll purchase the computer in US. Budget - Ideally less than 3k USD. Usage - Mostly office work during the day with some ML algorithm training, and gaming after hours Battery and weight - It would be awesome to keep the weight under 2.5kg, and maximize battery life. Thanks in advance! @Jurrino, yeah. Price is not the most important criteria. Looking forward to your recommendations
  2. Hi guys, Between the usual suspects: - Lenovo P1 Extreme - Dell XPS - Triton 500 - Alienware m15 - Aero 15 Anybody would have any specific experience with them that's not directly express in the spec sheet? I am looking for a laptop that's powerful enough to do anything while still having good battery life and inputs devices. The Dell looks really good, but it is running old GPUs and has some weird issues with QC and temps. If anyone has a suggestion, I'd love to hear Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey, thanks for the answer. According to dell, the average for their 97mWh battery is actually 90mWh. And my 87 is just slightly slower, so still all good for them. No action. I'll test the battery and if it is good enough, I'll just let it go. if not I'll return the computer. But buyer beware. This is how Dell handles stuff...It is a shame that the computer is really that awesome..otherwise I'd tell them to #$%^&*( Thanks for the help!!!
  4. Hi everyone, I just bought a Dell XPS 15 with a 97Mwh battery, but right of the box, I noticed something weird with the battery. Does anyone have experience with something like this? It says that the battery is already 10% deteriorated. Which is completely weird. I'll post pictures, if anyone has expeirence with the topic, highly appreciated. It is under return/warranty so I am not worried, Just want to get this sorted as soon as possible. I also owned an Alienware 13, which I returned for the exact same reason. That is why I assume it might be a problem with the reading, rather than the battery itself. The report also does not account for cycles and it is kinda weird at the end. I'll link it below. Thanks in advance everyone. battery-report.html
  5. Dizmo, thanks a lot for the answer. The PCI slot is for expansion, maybe thunderbolt just because it is the highest bandwidth. It is not necessary, but it makes me a lot more comfortable. Otherwise the SG13 is incredible. Fits almost in my backpack. Do you think that a noctua l9 can cool the 7700k? Thanks!
  6. Hi Dark, The machine is still awesome. But when you get yours, make sure you test everything in the computer. I found out that my battery, while was supposed to have 76mAh out of the box, it came with 71. So it came deteriorated out of the box. Right now, I would buy the XPS 15 if I were you, and didnt need the power of the 1060. Awesome machine!!
  7. Hi everyone, I need your help. I want to build a computer, but I am moving from US pretty soon, so I want something mobile. (must fit my luggage) My requirements are not much, but they are specific So here they are: - The smallest that fits what I need. - It has to have 2 PCI lanes, one for graphics card, one for perhaps upgradeability or Thuderbolt 3 - M.2 Slot for PCI SSD - Space for a small water cooler for CPU (Im going to be running a 7700k, don't plan on overclocking heavily) - Space for one 4tb HD for footage. That's it. I was thinking the Tiki from FalconNorthWest. Seems awesome, is there anything similar? If anyone has a suggestion. I am grateful already! Thanks everyone. Ivan
  8. To whoever asked in the past, Here's p95 and Furmark running. While AIDA shows huge thermal throttling, without the throttling it runs at 3.07-3.1 GHz, so not bad in that sense. This test was performed in a hot environment with undervolt. Hope this helps.
  9. Libman, did you end up repasting your AW15? Do you feel the need? I am quite okay with the temperatures I am getting, but some people feel differently. I would love to hear from another owner. Thanks in advance.
  10. Razer likes to let their computers run hotter, which doesn't mean that it is bad cooling. It is a choice. If they had decent warranty and support I would be personally fine with that. In exchange the owner get better acoustics. I ran with a slight UC and here are the results. GPU maxed at 83C and averaged at 76C During unlimited gameplay, CPU temps are around 55C and GPU maybe going to 69-70C. With limited (VSYNC) GPU = 65C and CPU around 50C sometimes even lower.
  11. Dark, I was observing for around 10 min, but took the SS on 7 min. The average fell 1C, not relevant enough to make me take another SS. I am personally fine with 95C on stress+rendering. During normal use I have never seen anything close to that. Plus, since the turbo boost is still strong, that tells me that the computer was made to run like this. I've had the GS63VR for a while, before returning it. It throttled a lot, and the temps were close to 90C, not allowing to go further due to throttle. In the AW I can always do an undervolt. But the GS was really bad in managing temperatures, maybe due to it's size. I am happy with the machine, and it seems to be pretty unanimous that thermal management is good (Dave2D commented about it, and Linus obviously approves of the laptop) I hope my experience can help some shoppers.
  12. Pendragon, what do you mean "not as expected"? I think it is well within the range of temperature, specially because there's no throttling. Could you develop? By the way: Keyboard. Best I've ever used in a notebook. And my main keyboard is a 710+ MX Brown.
  13. Pendragon, I am actually okay with these temps. These are extreme conditions. During gaming I don't get even close to this. I'll post something with rendering, that might tax the CPU and GPU at the same time...let's see how it goes.. EDIT: I made the most taxing sequence I could think of in Premiere. 4K Footage, Color correction, gaussian blur, mosaic, sharpen, etc. 5 minutes sequence. Put it to render with and without GPU acceleration. Without GPU, temps averaging 78C on CPU/ With GPU, temps of 84 average on CPU and 72 on GPU With CPU GPU and AIDA stressing the GPU even more, 90 average on CPU and 80 on GPU. The interesting thing is that on the tests the computer was relatively quiet, which tells me is the way Dell programs their fans not thermal throttling. PS: Turbo was ranging between 3GHz to 3.10GHz in all the tests above.
  14. Pendragon, attached after 10 min of AIDA64 on full load stressing CPU, GPU, FSB, Memory. PS: The 95C was a spike in the beginning as you can see by the average. If I wanted longer the average would probably fall further. Edit: Fun fact that it kept the Turbo at around 3GHz.
  15. It is not a matter of getting it fixed. It is Dell's quality control. It won't change. I've already returned an XPS for the same reason (in that case was a faulty trackpad). Warranties are usually good, but only cover the place where you buy it. So if you buy in US, Dell does not offer international unless you buy the premium support. Other manufacturers vary. MSI and Asus I am aware that do offer, HP I am not quite sure. And lenovo offers for some notebooks. Completely agree, me personally, I'd rather live with that than other problems..but yeah, not designed by Pininfarina. But the thermal management is on point, so I am okay with that. Plus it helps with acoustics and keeps the IO away from me. Which I like. So in the end, its ugly, but so darn functional that Im okay with it.. attached an example...it looks so much cleaner when the lid is open...no cables visible. PS: Sorry for the mouse, G502 coming... Razer Naga epic broken
