  1. From what i've understood is that 1. Fans are controlled by voltage. Unless it's a PWM, where it is then controlled more precisely(?). 2. You need a program to control them, like Speed Fan. This spawns a few questions 1. How are the fans hooked up to the system? Through the motherboard? Does this mean i need to count how many pin connectors there are? 2. Since im running a Noctua for the CPU fan, I am going to be putting SP120's onto the case. I dont exactly want those fans to be running 100% all the time, so does this mean i should invest in a PWM SP120 fan in order to save power, although negligible? I feel it's important to state that this is my first build, so i have no clue how anything sets up. Also the case is a NZXT H440 along with a Motherboard that's going to be an ASUS Z170 Pro. From what i gathered the mother board has these set of pin connectors: 1 x CPU Fan connector(s) (1 x 4-pin) 1 x CPU OPT Fan connector(s) (1 x 4-pin) 2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4 x 4-pin) 1 x 24-pin EATX Power connector(s) 1 x 8-pin ATX 12V Power connector(s) 1 x 5-pin EXT_FAN (Extension Fan) connector 1 x Water Pump header (4-pin) 1 x 14-1 pin TPM connector
  2. I've gained a few questions since i began this thread. If any of one would be so kind and help me through a couple of them. Also I've updated my Build if you guys would kindly check that too. 1. Dizmo offered me a build containing the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ACX 3.0 Video Car, which apparently had good specs and great warranty from the company. However from most GTX 1080 reviews, MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card , offered the best results. Warranty is convincing and all but spec-wise what makes the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card better than the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ACX 3.0 Video Card? 2. I was thinking of changing cases from the NZXT S340 White Steel ATX Mid Tower Case to the NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case. However i want to check the cases' "maximum clearance size" for the PSU, CPU cooler But i dont know where it states the max height on the case's specs(Nor could i find it). 3. Also the Drive bays for the NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case only has 3 external 5.25" drive bays, 6 internal 3.5" slots and a screwless Rail design. But i have a 2.5" SSD card so can i fit it into one of the 3.5" slots? 4. How do i know if my PSU has enough power slots(?) to power both my motherboard, GPU, and my Hard drive? Is it the SATA and PCI-Express Connectors(Labeled on the PSU specs)?
  3. Oh! Thanks for the welcome and the tip. Especially the Office online one! I'm trying my best to ask as many questions as i can but this is a whole new playing field i stepped into. Honestly, i just don't know what to ask since all these brand names are just dizzying. And yes, i do intended to build the desktop myself, that's why im a bit hesitant to touch upon water cooling and the likes.
  4. Oh man, you guys are popping builds faster than i can follow. Still trying to compare the motherboards against one another.
  5. I wonder how i can reply without spamming up the thread. I guess you're right. I'll drop it from the list.
  6. Oh my, that was rather fast. I noticed you included a Liquid Cooler in your build. Since this is probably my only PC in a while, i avoided Water cooling systems since there was that risk factor of it obliterating everything. I'd hate to ask but could you convince me otherwise that watercooling isnt as bad as people make it sound?
  7. Hello, The name's FileLoop. One of the many cringy children that made an account, furthermore I am also new to both the community and the tech world. So feel free to scoff away and shoot down any delusions i may have. Well! Now that introductions are out of the way... After finally being granted a large sum of cash to spend away at my first personal pc, a good $1,500(whew man i can feel the privilege), I've decided to take a step into building my own desktop instead of buying pre-built ones. Now, without much leads as to how to build my own pc and having few tech-savvy friends. I've done QUALITY research (Aka Googling "Help First PC build guide" which lead me to LinusTechTips/NcixTechTips Youtube channel then onto this forum) into the various components of a Desktop Computer! Tl:Dr 1. Budget: $1,500 general price however with a $300 room for performance. So it's a ABSOLUTE cap at $1,800 (With my own personal funds) Location: United States of Trump, thus US Dollar. (no $CAD, or Euros and ESPECIALLY not Yen.) I'll be real with you, I'm currently stuck for a 5 year-old, hand-me-down, on the literal verge of death HP laptop computer. I'm pushing it's lifespan, risking blue screens and its inevitable permanent death. I need a new PC SOON and the 1.5k Grant was a literal godsend. I intend to compile as much expert opinions from the forums in the time span of approximately a week or two then head straight to ordering and building my new Desktop. I know, a selfish time limit but im in dire need of it. 2. Aim: I generally do browsing since games where borderline impossible for my laptop. I do have games like Skyrim(Modded), a few Assassins Creed games and a few new indie games(which i bought from steam, lets be honest most of us buy just because). For the most part I do Digital art, with programs like photoshop, Clip Studio Paint and Sai. The main need i require is the power(vRam?) to open large image files in programs like photoshop and finally see double digit FPS in my games(Imagination does wonders in patching up single digit fps). I would most likely get into more AAA games if i get the chance to. Also I intend to make FULL use of my 1.5k grant, I will NEVER get this kind of chance again. Proposed System: I'll be honest, i just choose most of these parts based off Linus's video about "Viewer's choice Award November 2016" video. Please don't lynch me, i know it was an absolutely thoughtless decision but i really need to stress my time crunch. I am open to any suggestions, I implore you to pulverize my list. I already have some Asus Wireless Network adapter(with wifi, of course) However recently I got a 100 ft CAT7 Rj45 Ethernet cable that goes to my room. Do i need a wired Network adapter? 2. I've been thinking of buying stereo's for my room but i might just use my ear buds and plug that into my soon-to-be desktop. Do i need a Sound card in order to play sound? Saw it as an option on PCPartPicker and it worries me. 3. Monitor: I'm currently running a single monitor, ASUS VK278Q, and using a VGA cable for it(Oh, im such a criminal). I don't believe I'd would have more than this monitor in the future(or the chance to get more), so i dont think i would be intending to run a multi-monitor setup. My operating system is going to be 4. Peripherals: I do wish to get a new keyboard as my membrane one has already hit it's millionth tap. My mouse isn't anything fancy, it's a basic design that's solid and old. However there ar ejust commodities that i'll leave to the spare change i have left(if i do). 5. Why are you upgrading? : For the sake of answering the Q&A guideline. I cant say im upgrading my system, since im starting from scratch and replacing everything. Well i guess in a general perspective I'm upgrading my overall technology? Well regardless, i need a replacement soon before the laptop im typing with dies. #LivingOnTheEdge
