  1. Thanks for the response CorruptedSanity. Hopefully once Nvidia have tested the remaining 150 displays they will update/remove that warning message.
  2. Thanks for replying. The pendulum test is actually what iv'e been using to see if its working or not. I have also enabled the "G-Sync Compatible Indicator" in the Nvidia Control Panel which does indeed display a G-Sync label on screen when running a full screen game. Not sure what you mean by display port 1.2, how can I tell if the port i'm using is 1.2?
  3. Hi guys, I have a double barrelled question to ask regarding the latest Nvidia driver update that allows for G-Sync support on FreeSync monitors. I have an Acer XF240H monitor (running off a GTX 1080) and Nvidia just announced that the Acer XFA240 is now validated as a G-Sync compatible monitor. As far as I can tell these are the exact same monitor with the only distinction being that the XFA240 is sold in America and the XF240H is sold in Europe/UK (where I am). Here is a comparison of the two monitors: https://www.productchart.com/monitors/13180_vs_17240 So I was thrilled to see that my monitor was one of the 12 that passed the tests for G-Sync compatibility however after updating to the latest driver and going into the G-Sync section in the control panel I noticed that it states that it is not validated as a G-Sync compatible monitor. Here's a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/WtEeLxI.png This seems really odd because from my perspective the only thing separating these monitors is the letters "A" and "H" in the name. Hardware wise they appear to be completely identical. Can anyone clear this up for me because I'm a bit perplexed as to why my monitor isn't being recognised as G-Sync compatible. Anyone have the same monitor who can confirm one way or the other? The other part of the question is regarding G-Sync functionality itself. With the ability still there to enable G-Sync even without the official validation I've been running a few tests to put it through its paces and see what kind of an improvement it can offer. The results have been pretty vague and it honestly doesn't appear to have made much (or any) kind of a difference. I am not entirely sure what the adaptive sync range is for this monitor but I have a feeling its 40hz-144hz. That being said frame dips of any kind still stutter just as they did using vsync however there are no issues with tearing of any kind. Is there a definitive way of testing G-Sync/FreeSync/adaptive sync to determine if it is working as it should? I assume vsync should be turned off along with things like triple buffering in order to take advantage of adaptive sync but what about frame rate caps? (currently using a limiter of 120fps in profile inspector). I'd just like to be able to visually identify the difference between the adaptive sync being on or off. Sorry for the long winded questions and thanks in advance for any replies!
  4. I've sent them an email explaining the issue too but I doubt they will even care.
  5. Iv'e come across that article already and tried everything on it XD. I think your right though about moving on to a different brand.
  6. Hmmm, going by the screenshot they posted my issue is very different to that. That gif I posted gives the best impression of what it looks like. It doesn't cover the whole screen only the right side and only when something moves (so it severely effects video/games). Thanks for trying though
  7. I'd love to know what caused this particular issue though with the red trails/after image. It's so weird and iv'e never encountered anything like it before on a display. Doesn't seem to be anything about it online either.
  8. I'm leaning towards a dodgy batch as the monitor itself seems to have plenty of glowing reviews. But honestly it's impossible to say where the issue lies, could be with ASUS directly, with the Amazon warehouse it was stored in or an angry delivery man who threw it into the back of the van!
  9. you're dead on the money there (but replace cat with a cardboard box :P)
  10. Cool thanks for that, it's another ASUS however so i'm very cautious about that. Been eyeing up the Acer Predator XB2 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N5OD4S1/) but it's pretty pricey and there doesn't seem to be many reviews on it (plenty of youtube videos but only 1 or 2 in English).
  11. Well this is my 3rd one now. Each seems to have its own unique issue, whether its severe backlight bleed or something like the weird red trails.
  12. Thanks for replying. Just getting really fed up with RMA'ing monitors on an almost weekly basis now! Seemed like a really decent monitor too from the reviews. Any recommendations for a 144hz 1080p 24" monitor?
  13. Hello,After using my new ASUS VG248QE monitor for a few hours I began to notice a very strange visual anomaly. Whenever anything bright moves against a dark background it leaves a strong red trail/after image that persists for a second or two. This only happens on the right side of the screen in a very specific region (roughly 40% of the screen is affected). Things such as the mouse cursor or the ASUS on screen display leave behind persistent red after images that gradually fade away. When I watch videos or game on the monitor the entire picture is severely affected as anytime something moves on the right side of the screen there are garish red smudges. This issue is very different to "ghosting" and is not effected by slow response time. Instead it appears to be a hardware failure in the panel itself.I have included some photos that show the issue and an animated gif that I recorded to show what the issue looks like in motion:https://i.imgur.com/l6dzC4i.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/1b5stxn.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/d0idS8K.mp4In regards to trouble shooting the problem myself I have tried 3 different cables (2 displayport, 1 HDMI), various refresh rates (144hz, 120hz, 100hz, 60hz, etc) and every setting in the OSD and Nvidia Control Panel but nothing fixes the problem. This is actually my THIRD VG248QE I have received in the past two weeks as the other two were sent back for having horrendous backlight bleed issues. Incidentally this current monitor with the red trail issue also has horrendous backlight bleed too...Here is a photo of the current VG248QE (left) next to a Samsung monitor (right):https://i.imgur.com/i4BSm1R.jpgEach VG248QE monitor I have received has had this same backlight issue where the central portion of the display is clouded by large blobs of light. Initially I felt that this was a one off problem but after going through three monitors that have all presented the same visual defect I have lost faith in ASUS.Do these monitors even undergo any quality assurance tests at all? if so how is it possible that I have received three defective ASUS products in a row! I am thoroughly fed up with the whole situation and at this point am considering giving up on the VG248QE (and ASUS) all together...
  14. Hello,I recently bought a ASUS VG248QE monitor and noticed it had some pretty ugly backlight bleed. However unlike most backlight bleed it didn't appear around the edges of the screen but directly in the centre instead. This cloudy grey oval got gradually more and more severe each day until I decided to RMA the monitor in hopes that a replacement would not suffer the same issue. Today the replacement arrived and I was shocked to discover that the central backlight bleed is even more severe than the first one! It's definitely the worst I have encountered and it makes the entire screen look foggy and washed out. I should mention that the brightness, contrast and colours have all been configured correctly. Here are some photos of the monitors next to my old Samsung display:https://i.imgur.com/PnOd901.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/eqORvE3.jpgBoth of these photos were taken with a completely black background displayed on each screen. This doesn't even do justice to how bad they look in person. This is extremely frustrating as everything else about the monitor is great. The build quality seems decent and having 144hz is amazing. Is this a common issue with the VG248QE or have I just been unlucky and received two bad units? After spending literally months looking for a new display I really thought this was the one...I will definitely send this replacement monitor back but now im wondering if it's even worth getting another replacement if it's going to have the exact same problem.Thanks.
  15. It was a curved Samsung display (Samsung S24E510C).
