Hello all,
when teating my watercooling loop I will use a paper clip and connect two pins on my PSU to power it on without a motherboard. Would anything happen if I was to touch this paper clip? Are there any dangers of runni this for longneck periods of time, to test a loop for several hours for leaks?
thanks,
Andy
Thank you all for the suggestions! I have a lot to think about, but I believe I'm smarter than when I asked the question which is always a positive! If I do go ahead with this, I will consider posting a build log
Okay, I was told for cycles they were a good estimate. However, I know there are standard Blender benchmarks (as I remember Ryzen CPU's being shown). So I will try and find results from there.
Thanks for the idea. I would be buying these parts second hand. Here in the UK I found that with each Nvidia card going back to the 6xx series, I got the most Teraflops for the cost. None of the newer cards really came close due to their increased price.
Oh, that's a great idea, thanks. This is an area I am unfamiliar with, how will be PCIe lanes be shared if I used 4 large lanes, and a couple of risers from x1?
Now i see the motherboard you posted I think I know the answer to what I just asked!
Unfortunately, the software I'm using works a lot better with Nvidia. But is it possible to find a motherboard with 5 physical lanes on?
I should add, I have found that for me, the GTX 770's will offer the best TFlops/Price, ignoring AMD's cards.
I am in the process of planning the upgrade of my gaming rig to a GPU rendering rig (using the GPU heavy blender cycles). I am intending to re-use my 6600k and so am therefore buying a z170 or z270 board.
What is the maximum of GPU's are can fit on a board of this chipset? The best I have seen would be 4 on an E-ATX board. It should be noted that blender cycles does not require SLI or Crossfire.
Thanks,
Andy
