  1. Not a repair tech but I've been an enthusiast for 22 years. I have never seen a CPU that failed on it's own.
  2. This is exactly why I bought a 3400G long before 5000 series got here.
  3. It might help if we knew what you were trying to do exactly. It's not like Raspberrypi has a pci-e slot for a graphics card.
  4. If the fullscreen option in game isn't working you could try forcing it with a launch option. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1040-JWMT-2947 Also, exit steam, open terminal and type: steam to start steam from Terminal. If it throws an error when you start the game it should tell you.
  5. Definitely. Not gonna hold my breath waiting, will probably suffocate to death.
  6. Unfortunately, that's as far back as I have pictures for. My first ever build I did myself was back in high school. It was an Athlon 800mhz slot build in an old tank of a steel case with a 3dfx GPU. Airflow was terrible, thing would crank up over 90c and lock up on the regular. Wish I had pictures.

  8. I agree. As an ethnically jewish person who lost many ancestors this term makes me very uncomfortable. The current political climate doesn't help either.
  9. Not exactly cheap but I love my Titan XL. At 150lbs, you could go with the Omega series from secret lab. Has helped my back immensely. https://secretlab.co/collections/omega-series
  10. I was planning on getting a 6800/XT for my new Ryzen build but had to settle on a 5700XT for now. Literally the only decent card you could buy outright for MSRP or less and now most of those are out stock too. Something tells me my EK Waterblock for Radeon 6000 is going to be waiting in the box for a while.
  11. The corsair water cooling stuff looks ugly IMO. Considering that custom loops are largely for aesthetics (yes, there are some minimal performance benefits over air cooling, and certainly quieter), I'd go EK all day everyday. I do have that Corsair D5 pump res combo in my older build but meh, not impressed with their stuff in general.
  12. Team Fortress 2 was my all time favorite game ever and I've been PC gaming since Monkey Island and Doom on floppy discs. I even used to play TF2 competitively. These days though? All the trading nonsense and 6 year-old's running around on chat ruined it for me. It's a shame really, the community I had playing that game from 2008-2011 made it so much more fun than just the game play itself. These days I spend most of my time on BF1 and Fortnite. Another all time favorite was definitely BFBC2.
  13. I played this just the other day on the system in my sig and performance was great, 200+ fps with settings maxed. However, I bought the game on Steam when it came out and it runs it via Steam so maybe that's the difference?
  14. If I still lived in SoCal I'd be happy to do it for the extra cash but alas, I moved to Philly in 2015. Good luck!
  15. If the new PSU won't fit in the case, you could always run it outside of the case with case panel off. Ugly yes and I'd only advise doing it temporarily. But it should give you an opportunity to see if you can get the PC up and running for the time being until you can get a proper case.
  16. Cablemod is not currently selling their GPU mount as they are fixing bugs with the displayport connector. That said, they told me about a week and a half ago that an updated version would be back up for sale in 2 weeks. Their mount is nice because it doesn't require cutting at all, but it does take up all 7 PCI-E bracket slots. You might be able to fit a small PCI-E card in there but it would more than likely need to be something that could be utilized without the medal support bracket as all those will be taken up by the slots. What PCI-E card are you hoping to use?
  17. I currently have a 27" 2560x1440 Acer Predator IPS G-Sync Monitor. I am currently debating whether to sell this bad boy and replace it with the Acer Predator X34 (or similar) or buy a 2nd 27" IPS (non g-sync monitor most likely). I would like more desktop screen space overall, plus this solo 27" looks rather out of place next to my massive Case Labs SMA8. I mainly play games on this rig but also do photo editing and video editing regularly. Thoughts from folks that switched from dual setups to 34" Ultrawide especially appreciated. Do you feel like your missing out on anything? Is the immersive gaming experience worth any modest trade-offs in productivity? My all-time favorite personal monitor setup was what I had back in 2010, a Dell U3011 paired with dual 20" monitors in portrait mode flanking both sides. However, as much as I love 16:10, g-sync is too good to give up. Also, isn't a new version of the X34 coming out soon? If so, should I hang on to the $$$ and wait for it? Thanks Specs in sig. I have 2 GTX 1080s in SLI, so driving the resolution shouldn't be an issue.
  18. I was really hoping for a Lannister BBQ.
