Gearing up to resintall windows 10 fresh.

I do it about once every 6-12 months to clear out all the junk programs that i can't be bothered going through a list an uninstalling individually. Also helps get rid of things that i think "i might need that" but never do.

What do you use to backup your files?

    External HDDs and EaseUS

But windows is on it's own SSD anyway, so i'l just reformat that, install then repoint all my user folders to their existing locations and and reinstall a few programs. Can do it normally in a single afternoon

Agree, Im once yearly per PC minimum.  Its simple, and while all the updates take some time (my ISO is right before all of the Intel fixes for Spectre Meltdown etc just incase I don't want the updates) that download process can occur overnight while Im sleeping or a couple hours while Im using a diff PC lol.

It really surprises me when people talk about data but don't understand how simple data is to keep (if you want to)

i used to refuse to reinstall windows back in the XP days because (at least i feel like) it took too long to get everything reinstalled and back to where i like it. now it's just so easy

That's my current stance on the matter; I feel like it will take a long time to setup all my emails, browser bookmarks, third party logins, etc. so I'm still using the same install I made 3 years ago.
