  1. I've seen windows 95-98 with a few games, I bet u can even get xp. I bet someone could get modern operating systems to run in a browser as easy as flash games, but if you already have windows you don't need it and if u have Mac you probably don't want it. I would use Windows Vista as a concept, then you don't have legal issues, and you'll get ppl interested enough to do 7 8 and 10 for you.
  2. It's just a Linux USB stick, I was asking if there were any complications with PCI Express storage on old computers. You know because PCI Express should be faster than USB 2.0, and if all the drivers are supported out of the box, then I don't think it's too difficult for Grandma to install PCI Express card. Considering my grandma build her own PC and had seven kids, starting at 17 got 7 kids, and now has 24 grandkids still counting, and on top of that her sisters have plenty of grandkids to. And all of us still live in the state of Maine, I don't think it would be that difficult for Grandma to find someone capable of removing a side panel.
  3. If you're stuck with USB 2.0, and this company is already going to scam you by charging you $40-$80 for a flash drive and tell you it's on sale. I wonder if a Pentium PC is compatible with PCI Express USB expansion cards, or pci Express drives. As long as it's plug-and-play I would pay $40, as long as it was faster than USB 2.0. I imagine this would also be a good option for newer PCS for dead hard drives. I guess my question is is it plug and play, is there any compatibility issues with PCI Express storage devices from the year 2000?
  4. The second time I said it I was talking about an adapter, u know those SD to USB that come for free with like every product that involves an SD card.
  5. What about the SD to USB adapter that come with like everything these days, would one of those work in reverse? Or something less than $5, that would be cheap enough to be worth it. About USB lifespan, is there a $5-$8 USB that probably won't break for 2-5 +years of regular use?
  6. Well it depends of the software you're using, I would just go with whatever you're more comfortable with and whatever most people use with the software you're using. I don't know what media you're storing, but if it requires that you build a server more than $500 then you might consider Google drive, plus leaving everything running costs electricity. And I'm sure you can build a simple check-in system with a Raspberry Pi tablet kit for less than $200, and for that price I'm sure a cheap laptop or Chromebook would be sufficient for just a check in.
  7. That's what I'm asking him to do, just add risc-v at the end of the title, buy new title I did not mean throw away the old one, why would I care about that all I wanted was a little searchability.
  8. thank you for finally someone with some common sense
  9. I was watching a video on Raspberry Pi clusters for entertainment speculating about buying one for myself. I heard again a problem has been around probably for as long as raspberry pies have been around, there's a very low chance that one/ some of the raspberry pies in your cluster won't boot over the network. And SD cards marketing cheaper but replacing them can be tedious, so we don't want to use the default boot method of SD cards. For a while I've been wondering is it possible to plug in a USB device into a SD card slot with an adapter, but when I look it up I get flooded with results of SD card to USB adapters. But I found this video making me think it's possible.
  10. No because u saw the livestream where Linus said he was changing the names, so if Linus sees this he might chance it. And if other people say yeah this firs the requirements to go on the list, and next time Linus gets around to it he might.
  11. I'm hoping for riskV, i refences the vid and i don't want the other person to have to watch the vid before they know what I'm talking about
  12. The point was no screen, like a Chromecast with a battery and wireless HDMI, so you could stream from your pocket to you tablet or phone. You won't need to upgrade as often, and when you want a different screen or 1 breaks it's only $100-$400 not $800-$1000, plus it could be bigger than a phone so it can have laptop/Chromebook specks so you only need to upgrade every 5-10 years. And it's less likely to be broken because it almost never leaves you pocket/ backpack, and it's all metal so no cracked screens. No standards and it can be whatever shape the manufacturer wants, but i think square rectangle and ovel/circle would be the most popular.
  13. I wonder how difficult it would be to have your microphone play directly into someone else's headset? I can't think of everything up top of my head but I'm sure you can find USB pass-through and audio synchronizers. Again the only use case I can think for this is to make sure someone else can hear you in the same room while you're playing video games with headphones.
  14. You could try a Bluetooth walkie-talkie app, I didn't actually read most of which you wrote so I assume that this is for local multiplayer gaming otherwise there would be a wall between you. And I wood check and see if there's a Wi-Fi walkie-talkie app, not internet connection just a local connection, Bluetooth wasn't really designed to connect chains of things together, I mean it can but there's reason you can't use wireless frequencies that are more than capable of the task.
  15. Just because we're physically connected to the internet, does not mean that more connection would disconnect us from reality. For example ar would connect us more with reality, and flagship phones are already better then $400 Chromebooks, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Plus the internet is part of the world as long you're communicating with people, you could actually be communicating with more people than you ever quit in real life, is more having access to e-pals that way if you say or do something stupid the entire school doesn't automatically know. _____ turns into rant_____ Plus whoever said technology was corrupting our children it certainly changing us, but as long as you don't shut off from reality it can actually help, TV doesn't melt your brain and video games can actually improve your reaction time and memory. I forget the name but parents disliking the new thing their kids are doing these days isn't anything new, in the 17th century something similar to fortune cookies was distracting teenagers at the time. Parents preach that it was corrupting their mind and keeping them away from the dinner table. At one point in time books at the same stigma, if all you do is read then I forget how to talk, yes people actually thought this once upon a time before books were super common. And don't even get me started on rock and roll and modern media manipulating rumors.
  16. A first gen quad-core 2.4ghz with 8 gb Ram at 2333, AMD firepro 2270 Graphics adapter, it plays Minecraft okay not great though, and a 240gb SSD along with 1 the hard drive. Well let's just say it's not going to be doing much heavy lifting but it can handle Chrome pretty well, so I can copy everyone's homework on Google docs easy enough. And I can have open like 30 tabs, so I don't have to waste time closing them all so I can reference like 4 tabs have a Linus Tech tips rerun playing in the background no problem. I mean all I have to do is download their work and rewrite it in my own words and make sure I get all of their sources. It's not that demanding, all I need to do is an advanced Google search.
  17. If you have a problem with one of my choices, well I promise I'm not going to start a Kickstarter. please just suggest an alternative and move on.
  18. (Isn't it your job to save me from myself?) Linus [I wish he said this lol] No it's not, plus if I let you take longer and complain about it I get paid more. It's not like you don't get anything out of it, I mean isn't entertaining the viewers your job, you should really be paying me more I mean I am doing your job. I swear there was a Linus memes section, if I'm just an idiot and there is one please move it there.
  19. In hindsight that would explain why doing donuts in the snow is so fun, I mean it does feel like the cars natural state.
  20. all objects that are difficult to recreate IRL, they will be virtual, and spinning out of control is something cars are good at. Yes it would be hard to copy the exact physics of the game, but the overall effects could be accurately and fairly represented. Honestly cars are so good at spinning out of control oh, that it's really designed for, and I'm really starting to question whether vehicles or designed to be operated by humans to begin with.
