This stuff is considered old?! Wow, time flies. Do you still have the old iBook G4? Those are nice machines.

There wouldn't be much reason to get the 4970K as opposed to the 4790 as you aren't going to be overclocking it, and I'm not certain that the 9020 would even run the 4790K. I would go with the RX 580 as it's a fair bit cheaper than the 1070. Just don't pay too much for the computer itself.

I’m pan but usually say I’m bi as it’s more known a term.
Never really had to come out, was never conditioned to think straight was default in the first place. I’m just me.

Honestly not surprised at all. These MacBook Pros are great when they work, but they're plagued with issues like this and the keyboards. But, Apple is Apple and Apple will continue to be Apple. I wouldn't be surprised if something like this happens again in the future.

There is a chance a specialized hard drive recovery company can get data back, but the price will probably be scary.

ProjectBox153 reacted to seon123 in Is this a decent PSU for what I need?
If you know absolutely nothing about what you're talking about, please have the decency to not just say random crap that misleads others. 🙂 Leave that for the 12 year old fanboys out there, and J2C.
The 700W variant in particular is fairly new, with pretty much no useful info on it that I could find. It was 80+ certified in March 2020, vs 2013-2016 for the others. As with any other PSU, assume it's garbage until proven otherwise. According to EVGA themselves, it's rated at 40C, it has a DBB fan, and 700W on the 12V rail, which indicates that it has DC-DC for the minor rails, just like the other PSUs in the BQ series. If it's similar to the other PSUs in the BQ series, it's made by either Andyson or HEC, double forward with DC-DC, and should be okay for entry level systems.
If you want something you can use with higher end components, invest in higher quality, not just higher wattage. There are several good options at ~$90-110. E.g. the MSI A650GF $90, TT GF1 650W $105, Enermax Revolution DF 650W $109, and MSI A750GF $110. Those would be better choices, imo, if you're planning on getting a high end GPU in the future.

ProjectBox153 reacted to pythonmegapixel in How can i enable "New" mode on a android device?
Is whoever you're selling to aware of this predicament?
A less tech-savvy user probably shouldn't be buying a device with a custom ROM on it, and surely a more tech-savvy user would be capable of installing the google apps themselves.
Anyway, as I've said already, I don't think there's any way to do what you're asking on the device itself. If you have access to a PC then you might be able to do it with the ADB; see this Stack Exchange post - however you will probably then lose it on device reboot.
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/67177/how-can-i-get-the-first-boot-android-welcome-screen-again-without-doing-a-factor
Alternatively, you might have luck factory resetting and then installing apps over the ADB before going through the setup procedure, but I imagine there's something to prevent that.

ProjectBox153 got a reaction from captain_to_fire in After more than 8 years the first 13" MacBook Pro with a Retina display has been classified as 'obsolete' by Apple
Exactly. My point wasn't "hey look, another old MacBook is now obsolete", my point was that it's the first Retina 13" model to be obsolete. Apple does do a good job supporting their older products.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with their 2012 MBP. Those shipped with 4GB of RAM and 500GB mechanical hard drives, and they sold extremely well. I still see loads of them in use, and I've even serviced some myself. They're usually alright with Catalina on the stock drives. With an SSD they're even better.

It should work perfectly fine. Just make sure the standoffs are installed in the right spots (they should already be) and you'll be good to go. I'd be interested in seeing a picture of the end result. I love older cases like that. I don't have any full towers right now, but I've been keeping an eye out.

That's odd, I've run an X230 on the latest version Windows 10 and a spinning rust drive without issue. My E6440 (4300M, 16GB of RAM, SSD) is as snappy as my main PC for everyday use.
I've gotta agree with @ProjectBox153, especially since Apple is supposed to be about optimization and stuff.

I admit that the software support of Macs is not up to the same caliber as Windows, but for hardware support....Apple leads the pack there.

Putting this at the top because some people are missing the point of this post:
If this was any other Retina MacBook I wouldn't have even cared. This happens to be the first 13" Retina model though, so that's why I felt like writing something about it. This MacBook changed the field for the 13" MacBook Pro, and we still have the Retina display today. It's now in all of the 13" laptops that Apple offers.
Summary
Released in October of 2012, the 13" Retina MacBook Pro brought some great improvements to the 13" MacBook Pro. It also brought some controversial changes to the smaller MacBook Pro that many people still dislike today. However, after more than 8 years since being introduced, the Late 2012 13" Retina MacBook Pro has been classified as 'obsolete' meaning Apple will no longer offer any hardware service for the device.

My thoughts
Personally I'm not surprised at all given how Apple handles their older devices. This move serves as a reminder for how long the Retina MacBook Pros have been out, and just how much they've progressed. They were definitely controversial when first released. The Retina models didn't have batteries that were officially user replaceable, and more importantly (for lots of people) is the lack of RAM slots. The RAM for the computer is soldered to the logic board, something that continues to this day. The computer also moved to flash storage (mechanical drives were not an option), and the drives were fast but also proprietary. Thankfully third party options became available to allow owners to upgrade their SSDs down the line. The Mid 2017 13" MacBook Pro base model (non-Touch Bar) was the last to include removable storage.

Your CPU doesn't have any specific drivers. You don't need to do anything.
DDU is Display Driver Uninstaller, and it's meant for graphics cards and graphics drivers.

You can't mine without a GPU 😉
Depends how you look at it. You're using an awful lot of power and producing nothing of value, other than the cash.
If you work any job, you're contributing to something somehow. You're not when you're mining.
