Thats the logical side of it, physically we have Cat.6 sockets in every room, Cat.7 cable and everything nice and tidy in a little rack. I have to use my ISPs ONT, not pictured in there (imagine as the cloud). For the AP-AC-LR we have another Cat.7 running in the floor below, as well as a LWL for future use. Also another LWL in the basement, where my future office/studio will be located. The IP camera is just the first one, recording to the QNAP Surveillance Station running on the NAS with more to follow.

High level overview of my home infrastructure:

It's pretty basic in terms of actual networking. Just a few VLANs, some routes, two IPv6 networks, two VPN tunnels and a load of firewall rules.

The unRAID box runs a virtual router that tunnels traffic over a NordVPN link (primarily used for downloading), it's way faster than trying to run OpenVPN on an (already busy) EdgeRouter.

I also have a cloud-hosted VPS for out-of-band management from other networks (that are often IPv4 only), it runs a dedicated IPSEC tunnel over IPv6 to my internal management-host.

Unfortunately my ISP doesn't provide the credentials for their VOIP platform, so I have to use their stupid all-in-one router/VOIP ATA with another ATA right after it to get a usable VOIP line. Migrating the landline to a cloud VOIP provider is on the roadmap for Q4 2018.

I did a bit shopping on eBay and waiting for another Minolta X-700 (I lost my first one to my ex-gf) and a Ricoh KR-10X. Im a bit more excited about the Ricoh and cant wait to see how the first film turns out.

Any analog photographers out here? If I saw right, theres no thread for all the good analog stuff, so time to create a post everything analog related thread.

My gear consits at the moment of a Canon EOS 5000 with the 38-76mm Kit, a Porst Reflex TL and a Voigtländer Vitoret D. I had a Minolta X-700 too, but thats now in the hands of my ex girlfriend. I need to get one again, perfect camera and beatiful pictures. I cant imagine of something better at the moment. I digitalise my pictures with a Canon 9000F Mark II scanner, right now only prints from the photo shop, direct film is still to be tried.

I work as a IT technician so I have a lot of customer contact. Recently I had an mid 2009 Macbook Pro in the shop, the customer said his cursor does funny things like flying around and stuff. I booted it up, which took almost 3 minutes to get to the desktop. The mouse worked perfectly fine, so I called him and he asked after a performance upgrade, because the speed up tools he uses doesn't work for him. I made him an offer for a SSD upgrade but he just refused and said "I think my software can fix that too. Thanks anyway" and was gone. Let's see how long it takes until he comes back and wants a new Macbook.
