For what it's worth, if I needed a new tablet then I would probably buy one.

@LukeSavenije I challenge you to try to convince me not to buy one.

@AluminiumTech i’m Not looking for a tablet but I am looking for something small to take with me that has a bigger screen than my phone. Currently I use a chromebook for that but it’s not perfect...

In that case I'd go for it.

Android tablets are usually quite a meme in case you haven't noticed. They tend to have bad specs, bad OS support, bad cameras, and they tend to be overpriced for what they are.

459 euros being too much for a tablet regardless of what it's used for is subjective. You could say 100 euros for a nice pair of shoes is too expensive but it all depends on what it's for.

The "thiccc" bezels are perfectly acceptable bezel sizes. Especially considering the user will at one point actually have to hold the tablet and so those bezels help make it easier to hold. In fact, if anything the iPad Mini is burdernsome to hold for extended periods of time because it lacks sufficient bezels to hold onto.

The iPad Pro exists for professional content creators and not for content consumption.

2 in 1 laptops aren't the same. They're primarily laptops which do double duty as a big sad tablet and usually aren't worth it.

The Surface GO exists and is a device for a different type of person. It's a full desktop OS tablet instead of a mobile OS tablet and that won't to everyone's liking.

It's Apple is a positive in some aspects because it doesn't sell user data. And it has really good OS support which even Google struggles to provide among their own flagship built in-house products.

The 7.9" form factor is not for everyone, some people may like it and some might not. I used to think around 10" was a great size but I now think it's a little large.

It runs the full version of IOS and frankly the only things not running the full version of IOS are HomePod which runs a paired down version of IOS and the IOS devices in 2019 which have limited support for IOS 12 aka iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad Air 1 and 2, and iPad Mini 2, 3 and 4.

No native linux support is something almost all tablets have to experience in some form. Granted the iPad can't run Linux while other tablets could run LInux with certain functionality not working or complete functionality but I sitll think this is asking too much for a tablet. Do you really want a tablet running Arch Linux or Ubuntu using the Touchscreen?

Please give me a decent, up to date android tablet.

Considering the hardware it has inside, it really isn't "too much". Granted, it's not cheap expensive but by no means is it overpriced.

It's not too bad and anyway, with a tablet, having a bezel can be pretty nice to hold on to.

Complains about price then mentions something larger and more expensive.

2-in-1 laptops are not tablet replacements. The vast majority are quite heavy and cumbersome or sacrifises too many things.

Now that is actually a decent alternative.

    Not a reason.

Look above, you mentioned 2-in-1s and the ipad pro yet you complain about the size.

How? AFAIK, it does everything its bigger brothers can do.

And windows tablets don't really natively support linux either do they?

Shall I continue with how your points aren't great? Hue hue hue

@LukeSavenije The android tablets of yesteryear are mighty different from those of today. None of the manufacturers took the market for tablets seriously after 2014, and have forgotten how to make decent tablet devices. Whereas tablets used to have decent specs and features in the past, nowadays, they just act as reminders that you could just get a decent phone with a larger screen. If Samsung, ASUS, LG, and others took the time to create decent devices again, we wouldn't be in this situation, where almost no one buys tablets anymore.

@LukeSavenije i don't care about bezels. i love iOS. it's the perfect size because i want to read stuff without getting eyestrain but i don't wanna carry a laptop around all the time. if i need a laptop i have my quad core i7 beast.
