What do you mean by don't have WI-FI? Are you referring to the WIFI built into your motherboard? An External Dongle? If its motherboard. Check the support section for the driver install on the manufacturers website. If its a USB dongle, check the brand website for the installer.

Another solution is to plug an ethernet cable in and wait for windows to detect the hardware and automatically install them for you.

I reinstalled Windows 2 times I think and also made sure that the correct GPU drivers were installed and not just some Windows nonsense. I downloaded the drivers from Nvidia, turned Wi-Fi off, used DDU and then re-installed the driver. So should be alright.

it probably will work fine, but i'd advise against it. i've used a cheap board like that on a 7th gen i5 and that board died after like a year.

wether a board will work is not the only thing to consider. higher end boards in my experience last longer. i'm currently running a 4670K in a Z-series board from the era, still totally fine. that's a 10 year old setup at this point.

for your usecase i'd advise spending a little bit more and getting the next tier up in the intel chipset range, whatever they call it now. super cheap stuff is just... you get what you pay for lol.

If the system lagged on desktop with 7400 & 16GB of ram either you don't know how to install windows or the system has some other issue. My laptop with 6GB (8Gb 2gb gpu reserved) can run windows 11 smoothly and disabling security features for Performance is fun for a while until you get exploited and from my experiance 3rd party Avs use more reasorces that windows defender so in total the resource usage will be worse if you want somewhat secure system. and why the planet caring laptop has 1 ram slot (the rest of the ram is soldered on )That's totally consumer caring and eco friendly and which company don't use Philips (Except apple) and many of them don't have that brittle plastic clips that want to break if you open it up. You can totally take Sponsorships but lying to your viewers i did not expected that from LTT.
And when comes to the pc 7th gen is not old or the system you should have to throw out there is still people buyying 4th gen systems and most of them use clean windows and the systems that need a helping hand (Linux) is systems with core 2 duo or old AMDFx cpus with 2/4Gb of ram. to be completely honest the 69$ pc will be a better contender for E-Waste PC than this. And if you wanted to upgrade on a budget there is Rx 580 for gpu and 256GB sata ssds that is literally 10$. Even though Wd Blue SSD is a good drive it cost way more than that around 30$ there is even cheaper mSATA&Sata SSDs even from WD that cost less than that.

Thanks for the concern everyone. We are still in recovery mode over here and working with YouTube to get everything restored. Will hopefully have a video (or at least an update on WAN Show) to share with you all ASAP, but we want to make sure we get the details right since smaller channels may rely on our experience to help harden their own security.

if you wanna upgrade that's your business. all i'll say is that e-waste is a huge issue, as is climate change. in my opinion if your current machine works totally fine, why not keep it. if you replace it when it breaks or becomes too slow for you, you'll get both a better new system cuz you'll be a few years further on, and it's better environmentally to use older hardware for a bit longer.

this is probably just Windows 11 being Windows 11, aka a buggy OS.

maybe move your stuff over to the other unaffected account and just use that one going forward?

did you do a clean install of the gpu drivers? if you got 240fps with your 1060 in the same system then the new card is the issue, not the rest of your system.

oh also, please whatever you do don't listen to @Somerandomtechyboi's ridiculous "solution". if the same system with the 1060 performed as you wanted there's no need for any of that.

the stretch could be the display, make sure it's not set to auto-scale resolutions. most displays by default will try to fill the entire display no matter what resolution is given to it, which would cause that issue.

assuming your signature is current and you have an nvidia gpu, custom resolutions can be set in nvidia's control panel.

here's an article on it: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/759/~/custom-resolutions

Considering you upgraded your GPU and it is having issues, the first thing I would try is reinstalling drivers. Make sure you're on the latest one. If that doesn't work, you can try DDU. You can also double check your game settings. It is possible the game re-did the settings since it saw a new GPU, so maybe there's a setting that is bogging down the GPU. You can also confirm if the GPU is actually hitting near or above 90% utilization. If you want to go further, you can use HWiNFO to confirm if the GPU isn't hitting any sort of limit or is out of spec.

The other thing I would test is to uncap your FPS and set the "Vertical sync" in Nvidia Control Panel to "Fast". This allows the FPS to be unrestricted, and it simply drops frames that aren't ready by the frame refresh. It removes screen tearing without increasing latency, and allows the game to run over 240 which can improve input responsiveness to some degree.

Besides that, if issues persist, it is possible your GPU is simply damaged. I'm guessing you got it used since it is a 2080 Ti, so who knows what happened to it.

Have you removed your old drivers with DDU and then installed new ones after you upgraded GPU?
