    That'll be terrible for gaming.

An old i5/i7 optiplex would be a better option, throw in a 1050/ti and you'll have better performance for less cost.

Ashley xD got a reaction from Mark Yapp in Dedicated Video Memory
all he did was reserve memoy for it.

the way it normally works is the gpu can use a certain amount of memory, lets say 4GB. but it will almost never do that, only when neccesary. if you reserve memory for it, that means the system won't put stuff there. that's useful if you often have loads of stuff open and also need the memory for graphics.

but since you have a dedicated card that won't matter much, because that has it own 4GB of memory. and all heavy graphics applications will use that, and usually wont touch system memory.

the point is, Vram is phisical on your machine, it cannot be changed with software.

well 100MBIT is about 12Mbps, so if the drive is faster than that, you're fine.

The Intel HD5500 doesn't have dedicated memory. You can't give it dedicated memory either. It borrows as much system memory as it needs, this is the shared memory value you see. That's what it'll use from your RAM at the very most.

Ryzen is great but if you want to push 165FPS on a 165Hz screen then you will have to go either with 7700k or 8600k/8700k and a Z370 mobo.

Are you sure that it isn't your RAM causing issues?

    i would say no.

Linux does not support Windows applications.

gaming on linux is not great, photoshop is a no-go, etc, etc.

if you have a compatible machine, and all your games and software work with it, then go ahead. but this is very unlikely.

Quite frankly the only reason to run linux being realistic is because you can't afford a Windows license and won't run it inactive because the tiny watermark bothers you.

For someone greatly used to Windows that knows already what to expect from it and edit it to your needs going to Linux can be a bloody nightmare far from enjoyably or fun.

Please download and use the Kaspersky Rescue Disk. It starts as its own OS and will scan everything before viruses have a chance to hide themselves if they have such coding.

Well a PS4 Pro in the UK has just gone on offer most places for £300 with 1 game so I wouldn't say its half. A GTX 1050 is about £115 so again, not sure your calcs are correct.

i don't think you arre a fanboy aas well. there is a difference between being loyal to a brand and being a fanboy.

being loyal to a brand is like me. i use products from certain brands because i have good experiences with them.

being a fanboy is different. an example is someone i know, who recommends linux for gaming pc's... you can see the problem there, i don't have to go into it.
fanboys don't care about facts. they tell everyone everything from the other company's terrible.

in other words, i would consider you a fanboy if you said that intel and nvidia are awful no matter what they release.

Ashley xD reacted to kirashi in Can't boot in to any os
Remove all components from motherboard except for ONE (1) stick of RAM, your CPU / heatsink, and the power supply. I guess keep your GPU installed to, since you have no on board graphics, and only have a keyboard and mouse plugged in. Unplug all other USB devices, all hard drives / SSD's, and any other external peripherals you have. Boot the computer; you should see a "No operating system found / reboot and select proper boot device error" or something similar.

If not, you might need to reset your CMOS by unplugging the computer from power, removing the CR2032 battery from the motherboard, and pressing power to discharge the Power Supply. Then put the battery back and power it on; see if you can enter the BIOS. If you can, start re-adding things to the PC, one component at a time. I'd actually just try booting from a known good working Live Linux USB that you've tested on another system, just to make sure the thing boots. Then start adding hard drives one by one until it won't boot anymore, because I suspect it's a hard drive detection issue.

it'll run games like overwatch on ultra, and games like ARK on high/ultra.
one tip though, you can use the stock cooler to save some money. it's more than fine for that cpu.
no. ryzen 1200 is worse for gaming. jayztwocents proved it. for gaming, the I3 is better.
