good for them. the ONLY reason i have intel is because i got a Z370-P for €20 from a friend. that's the only reason. otherwise i would be on ryzen rn.

updating to a newer distro (Ubuntu 20.04 for example) will likely fix it. 18.04 is much older than your hardware and that can cause issues.

it depends what you have installed. i have a bunch of stuff installed but it's nowhere near the level i would be at if i did IOMMU for example

interesting. yeah, i'm currently 20. when i ran Ubuntu i was 12 to 15, at that age you have no choice but running ancient hardware so i never cared either. now that i have a modern computer i do care though

Yeah, at the moment 20.04 isn't listed as a development version of an LTS available for upgrade (that won't be available until July) so isn't automatically listed there, but I can change that. 
 
Thankfully I'm all good on backups (for a change 😅). Fresh install so all the data has just been transferred across from a backup drive. Easy enough to start again if I have to.

In addition to Twilight's post: have you tried to boot a _recent_ live OS (from USB or DVD)? -> does it boot correctly?
 
besides that: you give like almost to no detailed information as you show little effort by sharing the steps you tried yet by yourself.. I think more people would love to help you but the way you ask your question would most users of stackexchange make drown their kitten

i've never heard of that OS, when i looked it up i landed on a totally broken website.
 
i'm assuming that this is an unknown OS that hasn't been updated in years and therefore does not support a modern graphics card. i highly urge you to use a well-established linux distribution such as Manjaro or Ubuntu.

What don't you like from your current device? Do you prefer ios or are you an android guy? If android, do you prefer the stock version os anything will do? Any particular preference? What carrier?

FYI DDR3L is not the same thing as soldered LPDDR (whether gen 3 or not).
 
LPDDR has a much lower standby power draw compared to DDRxL

The key difference is in the "Approximate relative power" row - DDR3L standby power is 85% of regular DDR3 standby power. LPDDR3 standby power is 10% of regular DDR3 standby power.
 
That's a massive difference. And also as noted, LPDDRx is soldered, while DDRxL can use DIIM's.

Good. Hopefully this minimizes the amount of scam ads we see - even on reputable sites.
 
Summer is right around the corner, so this will happen very soon. Makes me wonder how many ads we won't see anymore.
 
Admittedly, I use Adblock Plus everywhere (except here). I don't see ads, so this won't really affect me. But for the average user, this should be good. Hell, maybe it will reduce the amount of malware infested ads as well.

Exclusive apps and features. 
my list of apps i use that are Mac only and i use almost daily:
Safari iMovie Garageband Pages Twitter (i know Windows has a twitter app but it's garbage) Mactracker Calendar (i know there are apps for other platforms, i just like the macOS calendar) QuickTime (for screen recording) Mail (i know there are apps for other platforms but Apple Mail is my favorite) Terminal (linux has this too, so half a point there) now on to the list of features that are Mac exclusive and i use almost daily:
Spotlight Help menu that guides you to where menu items are Time Machine iCloud integration Continuity AirDrop these are apps and features that i use daily, and that if i switch platforms i need to find alternatives for that work just as well as these, otherwise it's not worth my time.
