stupid question but why do this instead of just buying a used macbook for laptop needs?

i got good deals lol. my Z370-P was €20 from a friend, and the i3-8100 i have was €80 on the used market. 

It's EoL, shouldn't even be considered anymore. It hasn't received any security updates out of Extended support for close to 4 months, that's more than reason enough not to use it.

except that iOS 10 is supported on the iPhone 5, which is an 8 year old device. so app support is longer for a specific device because Apple supports them for so long, by the time they get unsupported they still run recent enough versions to be relevant for a while. 

I'd really just advise upgrading to W10.

And we'll get more of him. He's a busy guy and with COVID-19 its not like LTT is on a regular production schedule. He's probably working on a few projects right now and the new 2020 13" MacBook Pro video.  

ok, you can have problems if you use different cards like that. basically what is happening here is it is rendering the youtube video on the RX560, and displaying it on the 2080ti, and that causes a massive amount of lag. 
 
you can try disabling hardware acceleration in your browser, this will render the video on the cpu not the gpu, which will theoretically fix this problem but i've never personally tried it.

CPU is very much bottlenecking as it's much slower than a modern Pentium, let alone i3 or Ryzen 3

i had a 2017 model and this didn't happen, but like, it was defective in other ways so i won't defend it lol. 
 
it's good that they fixed it in later models but it's scummy not to put the 2017 and 2018 models on the list.... 

if you have a T2 chip you cannot install to the internal drive iirc. 

if you don't have a T2 chip Linux will work totally fine. i've ran it on a bunch of Mac's before with no T2 chip and it ran just fine, no problems at all once i figured out what wifi driver to install. 

this is what everyone wanted, they complained cable and DVDs and blu rays were too pricey. Well THIS IS the cost cables been paying, this IS what buying discs avoided. But when you demand convenience and kill other options well those guys who gave you the option you're using wont care anymore. Everyone things streaming is a cash cow and so they all want a piece. why I still buy discs for some things, and physical books.

i'm hoping someone makes a list of games that use that software so i can stay away from them. 

it depends what year the laptop is and if it's a Pro, Air, etc

It's a great podcast app that I've been using for the past 3 years and it saddens me to say that it's gotten removed for content that is beyond the app's control. As the author of the tweet says, the same podcasts exist on Google's own podcast app. Posting here so it may get some attention, and hopefully get the issue resolved for the sole developer of this app. 

i'm hoping someone makes a list of games that use that software so i can stay away from them. 

@ItsMeRachata buy the Pro for sure. it has a better screen and twice the storage. 
 
the thing about macOS versions is false. i use a 2012 MBP and it still supports the latest version of macOS and is unlikely to be dropped with the new version this year.

at least there aren't apps that contain malware on the front page of the app store.
